Gresham Police Investigating Shooting in Neighborhood

Gresham, Ore. - Gresham Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early evening hours of Monday evening. Around 5:40pm, several residents in the area of NE 189th/NE Hassalo called police to report the sounds of gunfire in the area. While police were enroute, another caller said a car had crashed into another car in that area and multiple people were fighting outside of the cars. Prior to police arriving, people ran off on foot in multiple directions.

Police located a 21-year-old male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound nearby who was taken by ambulance to a local trauma hospital for treatment. Detectives and crime scene resources were called to the scene to piece together what happened, and to see if the car crash is related to the shooting, and if so, how the two events are related.

As of this writing, there have not been any arrests made, but police are interviewing multiple people as possible witnesses, or involved parties. Investigators would like to talk with anyone who witnessed the crash or the shooting or if anyone has any knowledge about what lead up to these incidents.
