SEARCH FOR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN HOLLYWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD

 Portland Police Bureau

Officers from the Special Emergency Reaction Team are searching for multiple armed suspects in the blocks around the Hollywood Neighborhood.

On Friday, January 1, 2021 at 1:46p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery involving multiple suspects armed with guns at a marijuana dispensary business in the 2800 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Information was broadcast on multiple police radio nets describing the suspects and the vehicle in which they were seen leaving the scene.

At 2:00p.m., an East Precinct officer located a vehicle matching the suspect description in the area of Northeast 99th Avenue and Northeast Prescott Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not pull over. Due to the serious nature of the crime, the officer initiated a pursuit. The vehicle drove onto Interstate-84 westbound and increased speed to an estimated 100 miles per hour. The suspect vehicle exited at Northeast 43rd Avenue. The suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

Officers were able to arrest two suspects. Investigators believe three other suspects are still outstanding. They're described as young males in their upper teens.

A perimeter was established on Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast Broadway between Northeast 41st Avenue and Northeast 48th Avenue. Because there were possibly armed suspects hiding, supervisors activated the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). They have done specialized training for block searches of this nature.

Emergency information was released via PPB's Twitter page (@portlandpolice) and over Flashalert.net. Neighbors within the perimeter were asked to stay where they are and lock doors. If anyone sees anyone suspicious in their yard or property, they're asked to call 911.
