Man Arrested After Taking Children Hostage in Ashland Apartment Leading to Multi-Hour Standoff

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   ASHLAND, Ore. - Two children are safe, and a Central Point man is in jail today after Ashland Police Department (APD) responded to a call for a suicidal, potentially armed man taking children hostage in an Ashland apartment last night. The call came into ECSO Dispatch at 5:53 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 with information the man was holding two children, ages 4 and 7, hostage in an apartment in the 300 block of Engle Street in Ashland. After a nearly 7-hour standoff with police, the man is in the Jackson County Jail, and the children are safe.    APD lodged the suspect, Erik Macias, 36, of Central Point, on charges of felony fourth-degree domestic violence assault, domestic violence menacing, coercion, and driving while suspended. OSP INVESTIGATES OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING- LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 8:16 p.m., Linn County Deputies were dispatched to 29380 Speasl Rd, near Lebanon, in response to a reported domestic dispute- which involved a firearm. While on their way to the residence, a firearm was reportedly discharged at the residence. Deputies arrived and located the reported suspect, Gino Anthony Marcoccia (49) of Lebanon, outside the residence. Marcoccia was armed with a rifle and advanced aggressively towards one of the responding deputies. Marcoccia did not comply with any commands given by the deputies to drop his rifle. Marcoccia with the gun in hand, advanced directly towards one of the deputies, closing the distance with him.  That deputy discharged his firearm and Marcoccia fell to the ground and dropped the rifle. Deputies immediately removed the rifle to a safer distance and began providing emergency medical aid to Marcoccia, however, he was declared deceased at the scene. BEND MAN ARRESTED AS A RESULT OF TIP TO DESCHUTES COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN DETECTIVES

Deschutes County Sheriff's Office In March of 2024, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an IP address that was actively distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material through Peer to Peer (P2P) networks in Deschutes County. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) out of Eugene, Oregon was able to connect directly to a computer that was actively distributing this material and shared this information with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit. ICAC detectives initiated an investigation and obtained a large amount of evidence over the next two months. On May 30th, 2024, detectives determined that the IP address that was distributing this Child Sexual Abuse Material was operated by Jack Bergeron of Bend. Detectives also learned that the residence where Bergeron resides, and the distribution of this Child Sexual Abuse Material was occurring, also operated as a licensed childcare facility. GRESHAM FIREFIGHTERS INJURED DURING INCIDENT RESPONSE

City of Gresham GRESHAM, Ore. –  At approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, Gresham Fire Department and Portland Fire and Rescue responded to the reports of a duplex on fire at the 1300 block of Southeast 182 nd  Street. Due to the quick work of the responding crews, the fire was able to be contained to a single duplex unit and no civilians were injured.    This was a complex response as the nature of the fire evolved rapidly. During the incident, three Gresham Firefighters sustained injuries and were transported to the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Two of the Firefighters have been treated and released. However, Firefighter Spencer Tejedas remains hospitalized at this time.    Firefighter Tejedas suffered severe burns on over 45% of his body. FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO CAR DEALERSHIP FIRE IN BEAVERTON

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue On Wednesday just before midnight, firefighters were dispatched to a reported commercial fire in the 9100 block of Canyon Road in Beaverton. Multiple 911 callers reported seeing flames and smoke coming from a large garage at a car dealership. Additional reports indicated the fire had reached the roof. Upon arrival, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews discovered flames coming through the roof and heavy black smoke billowing from the two-story garage. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene. Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the fire while initiating a search of the commercial space for occupants. No victims or occupants were found during the search.  TVF&R crews were assisted by firefighters from Portland Fire & Rescue. FIRE CREWS RESPOND TO COMMERCIAL FIRE IN SPRINGFIELD

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire crews are on scene of a commercial structure fire at 4660 Main St in East Springfield.  Engine 14 was notified of a fire alarm at 7:47 PM on Thursday May 30th.  Arriving in under 4 minutes, Engine 14 found an alarm sounding with smoke from a roll up door.  The crew called for a full commercial alarm assignment bringing 3 additional engines, 2 trucks, 2 BCs and an ambulance.  Fire crews made entry in to the building confronted by heavy smoke from a fire within a machine shop.  Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire which was held in check by the sprinkler system.  Crews are working to clear smoke and overhaul the fire. OREGON STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE MURDER IN CLACKAMAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Wed., May 29, 2024, at 5:43 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to the report of an adult male lying on the right shoulder of Interstate 5 southbound near the Charbonneau offramp (exit 282).  The initial reports indicated the victim was possibly struck by a vehicle.  OSP responded to the area and discovered Oscar Lizardo Chaidez (42) of Salem deceased.  A subsequent investigation by OSP and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed Chaidez was the victim of a homicide.     At this time, further information is unavailable due to the ongoing investigation.    Any person with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Oregon State Police Dispatch at 1-800-452-7888 or *OSP (*677)- Reference case number SP24168806.                   Click Here To Download Our App

GRESHAM POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING 10 AND 12-YEAR-OLD SIBLINGS

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance with locating missing 10 and 12-year-old siblings who didn’t return home from school yesterday. They live in the 1200 block of NW Wonderview Dr., in Gresham. ALexander “Alex” Lewis, 10, was last seen at Glenfair Elementary School in the 15300 block of NE Glisan St. Alex is described by his family as a Black male who is approximately 5-feet and 4-inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Alex was last seen wearing a grey and white Tupac shirt and blue jeans. Alissa was last seen at H.B. Lee Middle School in the 1100 block of NE 172 Ave., Alissa is described by her family as a Black female who is approximately 5-feet and 6-inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU REQUESTS PUBLIC HELP IN LOCATING MISSING MAN

Portland Police Bureau UPDATE- The Portland Police Bureau is relieved to report that Khamphoun Vongkhamchanh was found safe. PPB thanks the community for assistance. The Portland Police Bureau’s Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing endangered man. Khamphoun Vongkhamchanh was last seen on Monday, May 27, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., walking westbound on Southeast Harney Street from Southeast 77th Avenue in the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood. Khamphoun’s family says that he will typically walk around the block and then return home. Khamphoun is 4’11 tall and weighs approximately 120 lbs. Khamphoun is 90 years old, and his native language is Lao. Khamphoun was last seen wearing a plaid white or grey flannel shirt, slacks (possibly blue), blue shoes and maybe wearing a beanie. SUSPECT FACING ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES AFTER SHOOTING, STABBINGS

Portland Police Bureau On Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 8:42p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a report of a shooting in the 10400 block of Southeast Clinton Street. When they arrived, officers learned that an adult male victim had been shot by a known suspect. The suspect then slashed a female adult neighbor in the hand and menaced another neighbor with the knife. They also learned the suspect was still in the area. Officers quickly located the suspect, who tried to flee police on foot. While running away, he used a knife to stab another neighbor in the neck. Officers deployed a Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW, or Taser), which was effective, and arrested the suspect. The victim who was shot was struck in the shoulder and went to the hospital by ambulance. He was released after treatment. 16-year-old Shot at Classic Car Show

Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— A 16-year-old was shot at a classic car show in North Central Gresham. At approximately 3:15 p.m., 911 calls started coming in reporting a shooting in a parking lot in the 1800 block of NW Fairview Dr. Officers quickly responded to the location of the car show which is just a few blocks from the Gresham Police Department. Upon arriving, officers located the juvenile with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided medical care after a bystander began providing initial care and applied a tourniquet. Responding paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital for further treatment. The victim is expected to survive. Officers collected evidence of the shooting and interviewed witnesses. They are working to determine what led up to the shooting and identify those involved. The parking lot has since been re-opened to the public. OSP TRAFFIC STOPS RESULT IN SEIZURE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

Oregon State Police LINN, MARION, & DOUGLAS COUNTIES, Ore. 23 May 2024  – Four Oregon State Police traffic stops along Interstate 5 (I-5) have yielded significant drug seizures in the last month. Oregon State Troopers seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, PCP, and other illegal drugs bound for Oregon streets. The targeted operations are a collaboration among Oregon State Police patrol, K-9, HIDTA Investigation Team (HIT), and Criminal Apprehension through Patrol Enforcement (CAPE) programs.  OSP Capt. Kyle Kennedy said, “Oregon State Police is diligently working to stop the flow of illegal drugs to our communities. DEADLY CRASH INVOLVING A MOTORIZED SCOOTER

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of  Liberty and River STS NE  at approximately 9:45 a.m. today on the report of a collision involving a person riding an electric-powered chair and a car. The initial investigation by the Salem Police Traffic Team determined a woman on a motorized chair was attempting to cross Liberty ST from east to west when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Liberty ST. Witnesses reported the scooter operator entered the roadway close to oncoming traffic when the crash occurred. The woman operating the motorized chair is identified as Lois Marie Randall, age 70. Randall was transported to Salem Health where she later died from injuries received in the collision. The driver of the vehicle, Jami Lee Duhrkoop, age 36, remained at the scene after the crash. FATAL CRASH- HWY 126- LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police Lane County, Ore. 19 May 24-  On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy-126, near milepost 21.5, in Lane County.  The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Honda CRV, operated by Joella Ann Ewing (83) of Eugene, left the highway for unknown reasons, struck a tree, and landed in an adjacent creek. The operator of the Honda (Ewing) was injured as a result of the crash and transported to an area hospital. A passenger in the Honda, Ruth Anne Romoser (80) of Springfield, was declared deceased at the scene. The highway was impacted for approximately 6 hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. OSP was assisted by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, Eugene Police Department, Western Lane Medics and Fire, Lane Rural Fire, and ODOT.                  Click Here To Download Our App

DETECTIVES ARREST ONE AND SEIZE DRUGS, DOZENS OF GUNS WHILE EXECUTING SEARCH WARRANT

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — An Aumsville man was arrested as part of a search warrant served early Tuesday morning.  Joseph Wallace Blades was arrested without incident at his home in the 11000 block of Silver Falls HW SE after Salem Police Felony Crimes Unit detectives served a search warrant at the location with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team. The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 250 M30 pills suspected to be fentanyl. Also seized were 36 firearms of varying types, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, as well as body armor and ammunition. A stolen vehicle was also located on the property. Jesse & Karissa Reigard Are Both In Custody On Several Charges After An Extensive Search

Coos County Sheriff's Office In early 2024, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division began an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse on Big Creek Lane near Myrtle Point.  This investigation led Deputies to serve a search warrant at a home on Big Creek Lane in April 2024, where Deputies recovered several firearms and other evidence associated with the alleged crimes.  Probable cause for the arrest of Jesse F. Reigard (42) on the charges of Rape I, Sodomy I, and Unlawful Sexual Penetration I and Karissa D. Reigard (32) on the charges of Unlawful Sexual Penetration I, Sodomy I, Rape I, and Sexual Abuse I was issued.  After an extensive search, Karissa Reigard was located and arrested in Arizona, where she is currently in custody and going through the extradition process.
