Graves Creek Road Evacuations Reduced to Level 2

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 07/25/18  Update 7/25/18 at 2:40 p.m.:  Following the recommendation of fire officials, the evacuation level on Graves Creek Road, north of Ditch Creek, has been reduced from Level 3 (Go) to Level 2 (Be Set).   If residents in this area have registered for Citizen Alert since the original evacuation, they will receive a notification at some time today.   No other evacuation levels for the Grave or Pleasant fires have changed.  For information about evacuation levels and other preparedness information, go to  www.rvem.org  .   Information related to the Garner Complex fires can be found at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5935/ . ### Update, 7/20/18 at 4:40 p.m.:  Due to increased fire behavior, the Graves Creek Road area previously designated as a Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation has been upgraded to a Level 3 (Go).  Residents should leave the area immediately.  Others should avoid the area to make room for emergency vehicles. Climber from Texas Rescued on Mount Jefferson

Linn County Sheriff's Office  - 07/25/18  Linn County Undersheriff Paul Timm reports on July 24, 2018, at 2:45 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call that a hiker on the Pacific Crest trail was vomiting, cramping, and severely dehydrated. The Sheriff’s Office determined that 35-year old, Rudy Santiago Moreno of Edinburg, Texas, was hiking the Pacific Crest trail and was on the second day of a planned ten day trip.  The injured subject was at 6000 feet elevation and 9 miles from the Pamelia Lake trailhead. The Linn county Sheriff’s Office sent Search and Rescue teams to the Pamelia Lake and Bingham trails.  While rescuers were en route to Mr. Moreno’s location it was learned that his condition was not improving and a request for air assets from the Oregon Army National guard was made.     At approximately 7:45 p.m., a helicopter from the Oregon National Guard hoisted Mr. Moreno from the trail and took him to the Salem Airport.  An ambulance was requested to meet the Blackha

Smith Rock Climber Rescued After Being Struck in Head by Rock

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 07/25/18 On 7/25/28 at about 1:00 PM, Deschutes County dispatch received 911 calls from multiple subjects at Smith Rock State Park regarding a climber, later identified as Shawn Snyder, that had been struck in the head by a rock while climbing near Monkey Face. The rock was reported to be “plate sized” and “about 2-3 inches thick”.    12 Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue volunteers and one DCSO Deputy responded to the scene to assist. Due to the nature of the incident, Redmond Fire units were also dispatched to the call and were the first to make contact with Snyder, providing him care until DCSO SAR units could arrive on scene. With the assistance of Redmond Fire, SAR units conducted a steep angle litter rescue down the hillside south of Monkey Face and then transported Snyder down the Mesa Verda trail in a wheeled litter.
