Child Exploitation Operation Nets Five Arrests

Hood River Co. Sheriff's Office  - 07/24/18  On July 17, 2018, the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office and the Portland FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force conducted a joint operation with assistance from the Columbia Gorge Major Crimes Team and Hood River County District Attorney’s Office, to identify and apprehend individuals seeking to commit sexual acts with minor children.  The operation resulted in the arrest of five males ranging in age from 16 to 44 years of age.  All suspects were lodged at NORCOR.  The arrestees’ identities, ages and charges were as follows (Juvenile’s name withheld per ORS 419A.255) -  Brandon David Backman, 44, Hood River, OR Online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree Francisco Ramirez Rendon, 27, The Dalles, OR Online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree John Grover Morgan III, 30, Rhododendron, OR Online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree Luring a minor Daniel Garcia, 23, The Dalles, OR

Hillsboro Fire Reaponds to Truck Rollover

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue  - 07/24/18 Hillsboro Firefighters were dispatched to a Report of a cement truck rollover at the intersection of NE Walker Road and NE Stucki Avenue just before 2pm. Arriving crews on arrival found a loaded cement truck on its side with the driver still entrapped inside the cab of the truck. Firefighters used heavy cutting and extrication tools to remove the driver.  The driver of the cement truck was transported by Metro West Ambulance to Emanuel Hospital with unknown extent of injuries.  The cause of the crash is being investigated by Hillsboro Police. The intersection will be closed for an unknown time. A crane  is being called to assist with getting the truck upright. 

Eugene Woman Rescued from Tamolitch Pool

Linn County Sheriff's Office  - 07/24/18  Linn County Undersheriff Paul Timm reports on July 23, 2018, at 3:43 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call that a female had fallen and broken her ankle at Tamolitch Pool on the Mckenzie River.  This area is also known as “Blue Pool”. The Sweet Home Fire Department was the first to arrive and discovered that 18-year old Sarah Grace Shepler of Eugene, Oregon, was attempting to reach the pool on a very steep trail when she fell and injured herself.  The female could not put any weight on her injured foot.  Sweet Home Fire Department with the assistance of McKenzie Fire Department was able to set up a rope system to move her to the trail.  Once on the trail 18 Search and Rescue members from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office carried her in a wheeled stretcher to the trailhead.  Once at the trailhead, Mrs. Shepler refused transport in the ambulance.
