Bend Man Arrested After Several Hit & Run Crashes and a Pursuit

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On July 31, 2019 at approximately 1:12AM, Deschutes County 911 received calls about a Chevrolet truck that crashed into parked cars in the area of the Tumalo Tavern. The 911 callers reported the driver of the truck fled the parking lot after the crashes and provided updated locations to dispatchers as it drove through Tumalo. About 30 minutes earlier, the Bend Police Department was also investigating another hit and run crash at Jake's Diner in the City of Bend. The victim in that crash provided a description of the truck and driver that matched this same truck in Tumalo. During the investigation, it was determined this was indeed the same truck and driver. A DCSO Deputy Sheriff attempted to stop the Chevrolet and a pursuit ensued through Tumalo and onto southbound Highway 97 from Tumalo Rd. Gresham Police Dept UPDATE :  8-month-old Kahlani Crane Chavez has been located.  She is safe and has been reunited with mom.  Thanks to everyone that assisted in locating her. Gresham Detectives are continuing to search for Crane and are seeking the public’s assistance. Gresham Police Seeking Welfare Check On 8-Month-Old Girl

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – Police are seeking a welfare check on an 8-month-old girl who was last seen in Gresham on the evening of July 26th, 2019 with her father, 27-year-old B.J. Crane Jr. of Portland.   Crane was supposed to return his 8-month-old daughter, Kahlani, to her biological mother, 23-year-old Alondra Chavez, on July 27th. Crane has not been in communication with his family or law enforcement and his whereabouts are unknown currently. Gresham Detectives are continuing to search for Crane and are seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone with knowledge of Crane or his whereabouts is encouraged to call the non-emergency police dispatch line at 503.823.3333.

Two Arrested at Illegal Marijuana Grow

Sheriff's Office GOLD HILL, Ore. – Two men are in custody following a raid on an illegal marijuana grow near Gold Hill.  Detectives with the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) seized more than 1,000 marijuana plants at two rural properties.  On the morning of Tuesday, July 30, 2019, IMET detectives served a search warrant at a property in the 900-block of Upper River Road.  A second search warrant was served at a neighboring property in the 600-block of Upper River Road.  Detectives located indoor and outdoor grow operations.  Detectives characterize the collective grow as a “black market” operation; the suspects did not have any permits to grow or process marijuana for recreational, commercial, or medical purposes.  In addition to the plants, detectives found a laboratory that produced butane honey oil (BHO), a concentrated form of cannabis.  Detectives arrested two suspects who were present at the time the warrants were served:  Michael Glen Newmann

Sheriff's Office CANYONVILLE, Ore.  - The Sheriff's Office and Milepost 97 Fire managers have reduced the evacuation notice for residents living in the 100-300 block of Ritchie Road from a Level 3 "GO!" to a Level 2 "Be Set" effective Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:00 am.  The reduction is largely due to firefighting progress in the area of the homes which have reduced the imminent risk. However, homeowners should still be ready to leave at a moment's notice should conditions deteriorate. Human Remains Located Six Miles West of Sunriver on National Forest Land; Investigation Underway

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On July 28, 2019, at approximately 11:55am, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Deschutes National Forest land approximately 6 miles west of Sunriver after a camper in the area reporting possibly finding a decomposed body.  Arriving deputies did locate and confirm human remains alongside a forest road.  The Oregon State Police Crime Lab was called out to the scene to assist with the investigation and recovery of evidence.  An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, July 30th, 2019.  Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working with the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine identity and cause/manner of death.  Detectives do believe foul play occurred in this case.  The investigation is active and ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - Through a partnership with Douglas County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management, Milepost 97 Fire Managers and Josephine County Emergency Management, residents affected by the Milepost 97 Fire can now visit an interactive map to see exactly what evacuation zone they are in.  The website  https://tinyurl.com/y696vqhq , is now operational. Douglas County Emergency Management and Milepost 97 Fire managers provided information to Josephine County about the evacuation zones and the fire. Using specialized software, Josephine County was able to produce the map for our community to use. RADE arrest(s) / Search Warrant

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On July 17th, 2019, RADE Detectives executed a search warrant regarding a drug investigation at 1297 Flower Lane in Grants Pass. The subject of the investigation/search warrant was Robert Goodlette. Due to information Goodlette possessed firearms and Goodlette’s history of violent crimes including assaulting a peace officer, a small GPDPS SWAT element was included with the execution of the search warrant. Goodlette was located at the residence and taken into custody. Also located was Brandon Fernandez and Britney Williams. This investigation continued for several days after the search warrant execution and the following items were seized during the investigation: 471.1 grams of heroin 404.4 grams of methamphetamine $6319 in cash. 9mm pistol with ammo. 186.6 grams of suspected “Cut” for drugs Other controlled substance pills, digital scales and packaging materials. SINGLE VEHICLE

Roseburg Police Dept. On July 28, 2019 at approximately 2030 hours, the Roseburg Police Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Garden Valley at the intersection of NE Cedar.  A motorcycle operated by Jeffrey Lynn Shipman (59 years of age), left the roadway and collided with a building at this location.  Shipman sustained life threatening injuries during the collision and was transported to Mercy Medical Center and then life-flighted to Sacred Heart for treatment.  Shipman is currently in critical condition. Officers spoke with witnesses who heard the motorcycle accelerating, and then saw the rider lose control as he attempted to negotiate the turn from westbound Garden Valley to southbound Cedar Street and ultimately into the wall of 161 NE Garden Valley. The investigation is ongoing, however, alcohol is believed to be a factor. 

Officers Interrupt Robbery

Medford Police Dept. On July 27th, 2019, at 9:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Golden Wok, 718 S. Riverside Avenue for an armed robbery in progress. It was reported that the suspect was purporting to be armed with a firearm. Officers arrived in less than one minute and found the robbery was still in progress. Three officers entered the business and confronted the suspect. The suspect did not obey commands and challenged the officers. The officers tased the suspect which had the desired effect. He was taken into custody and determined he did not have a weapon during the robbery.  He was lodged in jail for Robbery 2nd Degree, $100,000 bail. Suspect: Shriven, Richard Eric 57 years old
