FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On June 10, 2021 at 12:50 am, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash in the 5900 block of Takilma Road.  Personnel from Illinois Valley Fire District and American Medical Response responded as well. Upon arrival, Deputies located a heavily damaged vehicle crashed into a tree.  The vehicle had two occupants trapped inside.  The two occupants of the vehicle were determined to be deceased upon arrival.  The occupants of the vehicle were identified as 23-year-old female Aubrey Nolan of Cave Junction, Oregon and 32-year-old male Jaime Navarrete of Spring, Texas.  The next of kin of both occupants have been notified.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.  

Police arrest two suspects for Arson and Assault following tent fire at Washington Jefferson Park

Eugene Police Department ​​ On June 3, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Eugene Police and Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a tent fire at Washington Jefferson Park, and found that two people had been in the tent at the time of the incident, including a 76-year-old woman who was transported to the hospital with serious injuries from the fire, and a 46-year-old man. During the investigation, police determined that the fire had been started intentionally by two suspects, a man and a woman, who were observed yelling from outside the tent at the two occupants before dousing the tent with a liquid and it bursting into flames.   Eugene Police detectives were able to identify the two suspects, Christine Alice Reyes, age 43, of Eugene, and Shelby Louis Smith, age 26, of Eugene, and on June 9, police located their described motorhome in the area of W 13th Avenue and Chambers. Sheriff's Office Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2021,  detectives  and deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Human Trafficking Team and  Adult Sex Crimes Unit  arrested 40-year-old  Vitaliy Yasinskiy  and booked him into  Clackamas County Jail  on the following charges: 4 counts of Rape in the 3rd Degree 5 counts of Sex Abuse in the 3rd Degree 5 counts of Sodomy in the 3rd Degree 7 counts of Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the 1st Degree 6 counts of Prostitution The Sheriff's Office investigation revealed Yasinskiy was using Snapchat to communicate with and lure his underage victim. RYAN JAVIER GONZALEZ SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON IN CHILD SEXUAL PREDATOR CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On June 9, 2021, Ryan Javier Gonzalez, age 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree online sex corruption and two counts of luring a minor. Judge Erik Buchér then sentenced the defendant to five years in prison. Deputy District Attorney Matt Wise prosecuted the case against the defendant. In March of 2020, Beaverton Police Detective Chad Opitz created a profile on a social networking site known to be associated with illegal activity. The profile purported to belong to a mother of a 10-year-old girl. That same day, Mr. Gonzalez, who was already a convicted sex offender at the time, messaged the account. The defendant offered to be the girl’s “teacher” and described in graphic detail the sexual activities he wanted to subject the child to. Gresham Police Dept Using DNA technology not available to detectives in the 1980s, Gresham Police have identified a  Troutdale man as the suspect  in the city’s oldest cold case homicide.  Robert Plympton, 58, was arrested by detectives during a surveillance mission earlier today. Investigators allege Plympton is responsible for the murder of 19-year-old Barbara Mae Tucker, 41 years ago.   Tucker was a sophomore at Mt. Hood Community College at the time, studying business.  Walking to an evening class on January 15, 1980, she was seen running onto Northeast Kane Dr. from the wooded area on the west edge of campus. At the time, multiple witnesses  driving by recalled thinking the young woman was waiving at someone and trying to get people’s attention, but did not stop. A witness saw a man emerge from the shrubs and led her back toward campus.  A fellow student found Tucker’s lifeless body in some nearby bushes the following morning.  The medical examiner determined Tucker had been sexua

Galice Resort Fire

Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County  At 10:32 this morning Rural Metro Fire was dispatched to the Galice Resort after 911 received a call reporting smoke in the building.  The resort staff was instructed to evacuate.  Management turned off the electrical systems and closed all the doors and windows in hopes of reducing the fire’s spread.  Fire activity was observed in the floor as the last staff members exited the building.   As first units arrived on the scene it was determined the fire had “vented”, making its own holes in the building, allowing the fire to burn freely, now having an unlimited oxygen supply.  A second alarm was immediately requested to bring additional resources.  Structural crews worked on the fire while the Oregon Department of Forestry worked to mitigate any spread to the wildland.   Water supply was established using the boat ramp below the deck of the restaurant.  A type 2 helicopter was requested, dropping water on the building and nearby natural vegetation, ke

Jackson County Sheriff's Office Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is working alongside Oregon State Police (OSP) Medical Examiner Division and Ashland Police Department (APD) to identify the remains of the final unidentified victim of the Almeda fire (aka Glendower fire). On September 8, 2020, the remains of an unidentified black male were found at the 8.9-mile marker of the Bear Creek Greenway in Jackson County between Ashland and Talent, Ore. The victim was an adult male, approximately 5’8” – 5’11” with black hair and brown eyes. Eyeglass frames and a multi-tool were found near the remains. OSP Medical Examiner Division is attempting to obtain a positive scientific identification of the victim while working with the DNA technology company, Parabon Nanolabs to process potential DNA matches and create the attached victim composite. SHOOTING INCIDENT

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On June 7, 2021 at 4:26PM the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting shots fired in the 3000 block of Lakeshore Drive, Selma, Oregon.  Josephine County Deputies and Troopers from the Oregon State Police responded and located a male adult with a gunshot wound to the chest.  The male was transported to Rogue Regional Hospital in Medford, Oregon by Mercy Flights where he underwent surgery to address his injuries.  The Josephine County Major Crimes Team consisting of members from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety and the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office was activated.  The investigation culminated with the arrest of a 37-year-old female, Ricki Warren on the above listed charges.  Ms. Warren is currently lodged in the Josephine County Jail.  As the investigation is ongoing, no further details will be released at this time and all future inquiries should be

MAN ARRESTED FOR SEX ABUSE, ADDITIONAL VICTIMS SOUGHT

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office In March 2021, Washington County Sheriff’s Office detectives opened an investigation into 58-year-old Henry Stephen “Steve” Bauer after receiving a report from a woman that Mr. Bauer sexually abused her when she was a child. On May 27, 2021, a grand jury indicted Mr. Bauer on four counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. On June 2, 2021, detectives with the sheriff’s office Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) arrested Mr. Bauer at his home. He was lodged at the Washington County Jail. During their investigation, detectives learned that Mr. Bauer has a lengthy history of volunteering with various organizations where he had access to children. Mr. Bauer’s concerning behavior with children dates back to the late 1970s. He was removed as a Boy Scout leader in 1993 amid allegations of abuse to a young boy. Mr. Bauer also has ties to the Rockaway Beach community, as well. Detectives strongly believe that Mr. Bauer has other victims that have not made reports to l

UPDATE-SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Roseburg Police Dept. The individuals involved in yesterday's shooting have been identified as 37 year old Terrence Wade Beason and 59 year old Gregory Allen Bennett, who passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The investigation is continuing and there is no continued threat of harm to the community.

MAN MISSING FOR NEARLY 9 MONTHS LOCATED DECEASED

Portland Police Bureau A man who has been missing and considered endangered for nearly 9 months has been located deceased in the Willamette River. On Thursday, June 3, 2021, a private dive team with the firm “Adventures with Purpose” located the vehicle in about 25 feet of water off the Cathedral Park Boat Ramp. It was determined to be the Toyota SUV belonging to Richard Ritz, 74. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Dive Team recovered the body, which was tentatively identified as Ritz, and turned him over to the Medical Examiner. Confirmation of his identity, and cause and manner of death will be determined at a later time. At this time there is no sign of foul play. Ritz's family has been notified. The Portland Police Bureau is grateful for the public's efforts to look for him.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH (FATAL) 93000BLK OF RIVER RD. - JUNCTION CITY

Sheriff's Office On 06/04/21 shortly after 6:00am the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a crashed motorcycle in the 93000blk of River Rd.  An area resident called to report that while retrieving his mail he came upon a single crashed motorcycle and its two occupants in a nearby field.  The motorcycle’s two occupants were pronounced deceased on scene.  Their names are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.  Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.  If anyone has information related to this crash please contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 138E - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Thursday, June 3, 2021 at approximately 5:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 138E near milepost 28. Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford Taurus, operated by Adam Sherman (47) of Roseburg, was westbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Sherman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. A juvenile passenger was transported by air ambulance to the hospital. SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Roseburg Police Dept. On June 3, 2021, at approximately 6:59 P.M., officers and deputies from the Roseburg Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency personnel from the Roseburg Fire Department and ambulance services responded to the 2500 block of NE Stephens (Rose Villa apartments) after receiving multiple calls of shots fired at the location. Based upon the initial investigation and available information, two Roseburg men were identified as being involved in the shooting. Both males were life-flighted to Legacy Emmanuel to be treated for their injuries.  One male succumbed to his injuries and the condition of the other male is unknown. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available.  Names of the involved are not being released as the investigation continues, but it is believed they were known to each other and there is no continued threat of harm to the public. 

DUII CRASH RESULTS IN INJURIES AND ARREST

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A Roseburg woman was seriously injured in a vehicle crash Tuesday night.  On June 1, 2021, shortly before 9:00 pm, 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of an injury vehicle crash in the area of Cleveland Rapids Road and Garden Valley Road. Deputies arrived on scene to find a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup which had rolled several times.  The driver, 30 year-old Cody James Lancaster of Roseburg, showed signs of impairment at the scene. Lancaster's passenger, 29 year-old Tristan Del-Marie Harding also of Roseburg, was unresponsive and pinned under the vehicle. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center and later flown to an out of area hospital for further care.  Lancaster was also transported to Mercy Medical Center and later released. Sheriff's Office Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives continue to search for 76-year-old Ralph Brown, who has been missing from Cornelius since Sunday, May 16, 2021. On the evening he was reported missing, deputies immediately entered Mr. Brown into local and national law enforcement databases identifying him as missing and endangered. Mr. Brown's vehicle, a 2014 Blue Nissan Sentra with Oregon plate 319KQV, was also listed in the same databases. If any law enforcement officer enters Mr. Brown's name, driver's license number, vehicle's license plate, or vehicle identification number (VIN) into one of the databases, they will be notified that Mr. Brown is a missing and endangered person. Each missing person case is unique. WCSO personnel has canvassed Newberg, Oregon, Mr. Brown's last known location determined by GPS signals from his cell phone (map attached). INTERSTATE 5 NORTHBOUND CLOSED SOUTH OF ASHLAND DUE TO COMMERCIAL TRUCK FIRE

  ODOT: SW Oregon ASHLAND - Interstate 5 northbound traffic remains closed tonight near the California border after a commercial truck caught fire near milepost 11, just south of Ashland.  ODOT, OSP and Ashland/Jackson Co. Fire District 5 fire crews responded to the truck fire shortly before 6 p.m. The truck trailer contained paper products and appears to be a total loss. Crews are attempting to clear the burning debris and get a single lane of northbound traffic open by 7:30 p.m. It will take some time for the traffic back-up to clear as it extends from milepost 1 and into California. 

MCMINNVILLE BANK ROBBERY

McMinnville Police Dept. On 6/2/2021 at 11:55 am McMinnville units were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at Chase Bank in McMinnville, 1675 N. Hwy 99W.  The suspect entered the bank and presented a note demanding money from the teller.  The suspect received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the bank on foot.  The suspect was described as a white male in his 20’s, wearing a bright yellow shirt.    The first patrol unit arrived in the area less than a minute after being dispatched. Alert witnesses outside of the bank were able to let officers know that the suspect had taken off his shirt and went south on McDaniel Lane.  Shortly after, officers contacted the suspect in Wortman Park and took him into custody without incident.  The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Ashton Lay of McMinnville.  Lay was lodged at the Yamhill County Jail on one count of 2nd degree Robbery and one count of 1st degree Theft pending arraignment.   We would like to express our appreci

MAN CONVICTED OF SEX ABUSE SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports Brandon Dale Morgan, 45, from Lyons, was sentenced today after being found guilty in a jury trial on May 15, 2021 of three counts of sex abuse-related crimes.  Linn County Detectives investigated the case back in 2019 that led to his arrest and conviction for two counts of Sodomy in the First Degree and one count of Attempted Sex Abuse in the First Degree.  Morgan will serve 25 years on each Sodomy charge, which will run concurrently and 18 months for the Attempted Sex Abuse in the First Degree, which will run consecutively.    

Mehl Creek Fire Update

Douglas Forest Protection Association Crews have completed the construction of fire lines around the perimeter of the Mehl Creek Fire.  Portions of the fire line are “indirect fire line” meaning there is still pockets of unburned fuel between the edge of the fire and the fire line.  In these areas, crews are going back and constructing additional fire line by hand along the edge of the fire.

Mehl Creek Fire Update

DFPA Wednesday, 1:00 AM Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Elkton Rural Fire Department responded to a fire Tuesday evening around 8:25 PM, located three miles southwest of Elkton near Mehl Creek Road.  Upon arrival to the incident, the fire was estimated to be 40 acres in size, burning in an area that had previously been logged.  The fire was quickly spreading up a steep hillside, burning through heavy brush and residual logging slash. Strong, gusty winds resulted in numerous spot fires around the main body of the fire.  Additional resources were requested from the Kellogg Rural Fire Department, North Douglas County Fire & EMS, Oakland Rural Fire Department, and contract firefighter resources. As of midnight, the Mehl Creek Fire was estimated to be between 150 and 200 acres in size with zero percent containment.  Four bull dozers are working to construct containment lines around the fire while 12 engines and five water tenders work to cool the perimeter of th
