OSP SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING A PERSON- WASCO COUNTY

Oregon State Police The Oregon State Police is working with The Dalles Police Department, Wasco County Sheriff’s Office on an incident that occurred this morning November 13, 2021, around 8:47 A.M. in Wasco County involving shots fired.   The Oregon State Police SWAT team searched a residence near Shaniko earlier today in an attempt to locate Cantwell.  Highway 97 was shut down for several hours to collect evidence and document the scene. Law Enforcement is currently asking for the public’s assistance for information on the where abouts of Logan Cantwell (23).  Logan Cantwell may be using the alias Logan Taylor or Kendall Myers.  If seen, do not approach him.  Any information regarding Logan Cantwell’s current location should be immediately reported by call by calling 911 or the Oregon State Police Dispatch at 800-442-0776 or *OSP (*677) from your mobile phone.   Reference case #SP21319426

Fatal Crash Involving Vehicle, Bicycle in Central Point

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case #21-5991 CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – This evening Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a fatal crash involving a vehicle and bicycle on the 6000 block of Crater Lake Avenue in Central Point.  At 5:10 p.m. ECSO dispatch received a call for a motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle. EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful. All involved parties have been identified and are on scene. The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team is investigating. Victim’s identification will be released pending notification of next of kin. Crater Lake Ave. will remain closed between the 5700 to 6100 block while investigations are ongoing. STAR team is made up of investigators from JCSO, Medford Police Department, and Ashland Police Department.

Sheriff's Office ** UPDATE **  Trinity has been located and has been reunited safely with her family.  Deputies, Search and Rescue as well as Fire personnel are searching the area of the 400-block of Stouts Creek in Days Creek for a missing 9 year old female juvenile named Trinity. Sheriff's Office LCSO Case #21-6369 The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating 54 year old Abdul Lamont.  Lamont was reported missing by his roommate on 11/10/21.  Lamont unexpectedly left his address in the 83300blk of Enterprise Rd. in Pleasant on foot on Sunday (11/0/21).  Lamont left behind most of his personal property and did not appear to make any preparations for travel.  This type of behavior is not typical of him. Although Lamont’s destination is unknown, he is believed to possibly have friends in the McKenzie Bridge and Creswell areas.  He also has previously frequented the Saturday Market in downtown Eugene.  Lamont has a cell phone but it has not been active since he was reported missing. Lamont is described as a black male adult standing approximately 5’08” and weighing approximately 145lbs.  He has black/gray hair and brown eyes.  He was last observed wearing a brown cord aroid jacket, jeans and gray slippers. ROCKSLIDE CLEANUP WILL KEEP OREGON 138 WEST CLOSED THROUGH THE WEEKEND

ODOT: SW Oregon ELKTON -- Oregon 138 West (Elkton to Sutherlin Highway) is expected to remain closed until Tuesday due to a rockslide 10 miles south of Elkton. During the closure, traffic will detour nine miles along Bullock Road, which runs parallel to the highway but on the opposite side of the Umpqua River. Detour signs are in place. ODOT has contracted with Weekly Bros. of Glide to remove the rock and debris. The contractor is expected to take over cleanup operations from ODOT crews this afternoon. Weekly Bros. estimates they will be able to remove the slide material and any loose rock on the hillside by early next week. The highway has been closed since 6 a.m. today when a rockslide was reported at milepost 10.8, about one mile north of the Yellow Creek day use area. The slide involved an estimated 7,000 cubic yards of rock and debris, blocking both lanes. A typical dump truck can carry 10-15 cubic yards of material. Oregon State Police The Oregon State Police Trooper, who was injured in the police incident on highway 30, has been identified as Trooper John Jeffries.   Trooper John Jeffries started with the Oregon State Police in March of 2021, after retiring from the FBI after 20 years of service.  Trooper Jeffries is currently duty stationed at the St. Helens worksite. Trooper Jeffries and his wife have spent the last 25 years in Portland, Oregon where they raised their two sons.  Trooper Jeffries has spent his life in service to the public.  The Oregon State Police asks that you respect the family’s privacy at this time.  We also ask for your prayers for Trooper Jeffries, his family, his friends as well as the entire OSP family.

OREGON 138 WEST WILL REMAIN CLOSED ALL DAY DUE TO ROCKSLIDE 10 MILES SOUTH OF ELKTON

ODOT: SW Oregon ELKTON – Oregon 138 West (Elkton to Sutherlin Highway) is expected to remain closed the rest of the day due to a rockslide 10 miles south of Elkton. An estimated 7,000 cubic yards of rock and debris slid into the roadway earlier this morning and will need to be cleared before the highway can be opened. The rockslide is located about a mile north of the Yellow Creek day use area. WATER RESCUE ON SANTIAM RIVER IN STAYTON

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office At 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, November 11, 2021, workers from a Knife River facility called 911 after hearing a woman calling for help after she became trapped in the current of the Santiam River near the 1 st  Street Bridge in Stayton.  When first responders arrived at the scene, the 32-year-old woman was clinging to brush in the water, unable to safely get to shore. Workers from Knife River were on the bridge trying to throw a flotation device out to the woman. Deputies threw a rescue line to the female from the bridge and used it to get a personal flotation device out to her while waiting for additional help to arrive.  The Jefferson Fire District put a boat out onto the water and had a swimmer help the woman to safety. Responders learned the woman had been living in a camp near the river and became stuck in the current while attempting to leave due to the rising water levels.  She was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation. OREGON STATE POLICE TROOPER CRITICALLY INJURED IN A POLICE INCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 30 -- COLUMBIA COUNTY

Oregon State Police Today, November 11, 2021, at around 3:31 P.M., OSP Troopers were involved in a police incident involving a fleeing suspect on Highway 30 milepost 31 west of St. Helens, when the suspect vehicle rammed an OSP Patrol car and struck an OSP Trooper.  The Trooper was taken by ground ambulance to Emanuel Hospital in critical condition.  The investigation is being handled by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.  The Oregon State Police will not be releasing any information about the incident.  The identity of the OSP Trooper is not being released at this time.

OSP SW Region Drug Enforcement Team served a search warrant on illegal marijuana grow- Jackson County

Oregon State Police On October 28, 2021, the Oregon State Police Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section team served a search warrant in the 12000 block of Modoc Rd. Central Point, Oregon, for illegal marijuana manufacturing.  Law enforcement encountered 62 large, outdoor grow-houses which contained both illegal marijuana plants (1,193) and previously harvested, drying marijuana.  In total, 18,360 gross pounds of illicit marijuana, to include the marijuana plants and processed marijuana located on the property, were seized and destroyed. Also seized in the operation was over $80,000.00 US Currency and four firearms.  Multiple occupants on the property were detained, identified and interviewed during the investigation. Missing Mushroom Picker Jesse Valles' Body Found And Recovered

Coos County Sheriff's Office It is with great sadness that I have to report the lost subject, 77 year old Jessie Valle was found after passing away at the scene of the search, less than 500 meters from the point last seen.  It’s believed Mr. Valle succumbed to the elements shortly after becoming lost.  While it’s certainly not the outcome we had hoped for, the search concluded yesterday, 11-9-21 at about 11:30, giving the family some closure. We would like to thank family and friends of Mr. Valle, volunteers and Search and Rescue personnel from Douglas, Jackson and Coos Counties as well as the US Coast Guard that assisted in the search in cold, wet and windy conditions.  We would also like to remind anyone going into the woods to please use a GPS if able, as well as to bring equipment for warmth and sustenance.  It’s easy to get turned around, please make sure someone knows where you are going.  If you find yourself lost, please shelter in place and listen for searchers.

CREWS RESCUE ONE FROM SPRINGFIELD HOUSE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire crews rescued one victim from a house fire in the 700 block of G Street Wednesday night.  Arriving crews found a resident outside reporting smoke from a room with one victim inside.  Crews rescued the victim and a waiting ambulance transported them to River Bend for treatment.  A cat was also rescued after the fire was extinguished.  The cause is under investigation.

Seeking tips after 21 bikes stolen from local Hutch’s bike shop

Eugene Police Department At around 8:13 a.m. today, November 10, Eugene Police were called to investigate the theft of approximately 21 bikes from locally owned and operated Hutch’s Bicycles, 960 Charnelton. The bikes were stolen during the night and the estimated cost of the theft so far is around $100,000, including several very expensive and specialized bikes.  The magnitude of this theft is unusual and it’s a big hit to the local business.  EPD Property Crimes Unit and Forensic Evidence Unit were called out to investigate the case, and EPD Patrol has also been on scene. Robbery with Shots Fired

Medford Police On November 10th, 2021 at about 2:19 a.m., several Medford Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired during a Robbery at the 7-11 store, 1723 E. McAndrews. While en-route to the call, witnesses provided a direction of travel for the three males suspects, who fled on foot eastbound.  A Medford Police K-9, “Bones”, led the search and at 2:51 a.m., the three suspects were located in a backyard in the 1100 block of Wabash Avenue. The stolen property, as well as the handgun used during the robbery were recovered. The investigation revealed the three suspects entered the store and stole beer and cigarettes before fleeing. The clerk followed the suspects into the parking lot and one of them fired several rounds towards the employee.  No one was struck during the shooting. FATAL CRASH HIGHWAY 42S-COOS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On November 9, 2021, at approximately 4:30 P.M., OSP Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a submerged vehicle on U.S. Highway 42S near milepost 10 near Coquille.  Preliminary investigation indicates a Nissan Armada driven by, Tina Schuhrke (53) of Langlois, was traveling east on highway 42S when she failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the westbound lane of travel crashed through a phone pole and guardrail before continuing down the embankment into the Coquille River.  The vehicle was completely submerged in the river. OSP Was assisted by Coos County Sheriff’s Office Marine Deputies, Bandon Police Department, Coquille Fire and Rescue, Coquille Ambulance, Brandon Fire and Rescue, Bandon Dive Team, Coos County chaplains, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office In partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, the Washington County Sheriff's Office asks for the public's help with the investigation into Jessica Hart's death. Investigators learned one of Hart's friends also died in California around the same time. On October 7, 2021, the Chico (California) Police Department found 32-year-old Syah Redbird had shot and killed herself after driving there from Oregon. Redbird's death was ruled a suicide. Redbird, who stayed at various addresses around the Portland metro area, was driving a white 1994 Ford Ranger. The Chico Police Department is not releasing additional information about their case at this time. Detectives from both agencies began working together after connecting the cases.  The investigation showed Hart and Redbird spent considerable time together in Oregon in the days and weeks before their deaths. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has a new K9 on patrol and would like to introduce the community to K9 Eros. Eros, a 3-year-old German Shepherd from Germany was acquired by DCSO last week after testing several available dogs in California. Funding for the new K9 was made possible to a generous gift by an anonymous member of the community. Deputy Oscar Rosas, an experienced K9 handler, and Eros will be partnered together. “The team will bond and train together over the next several months before beginning to patrol together,” Lt. Brad O’Dell said. “For now, the team will focus building a bond and interacting with each other. Deputy Rosas and Eros will then undergo a several week training program with a master trainer to become certified by the Oregon Police Canine Association,” O’Dell added. TEEN IDENTIFIED AFTER FATAL ACCIDENT AT A TROUTDALE PARK

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, November 6, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies and medical responders were dispatched to the report of a young person being struck by a fallen tree limb in the area of Thousand Acres Dog Park at the Sandy River Delta in Troutdale. The incident took place about a quarter-mile from the main road. Despite lifesaving efforts, the teenager did not survive their injuries. The teenager has been identified as 14-year-old Christopher Kelly of Portland. Kelly was a freshman at Central Catholic High School. The teenager was in the area with a volunteer group planting trees. “Our thoughts are with this young man’s family during this tragic time,” said Undersheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell. “This weighs heavy on all of us in the first responder community.” MCSO would like to acknowledge the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office, Corbett Fire, AMR and TIPNW for their assistance.
