MARIJUANA SEIZURE

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) In the evening hours of Thursday, April 7th, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) executed a search warrant on 3 warehouse buildings in the 300 block of Hayward Lane, in Glendale.     There had been ongoing suspicious activity at the location to include high volume of workers coming and going, and materials and personnel trucked in and out during late night hours.  The buildings had been modified with air filtration systems, water lines running inside the building, all the windows boarded up, and the overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from inside, among other things.   Detectives attempted to contact the occupants of one building by knocking on the doors, but an unknown person locked the doors and hid inside, ignoring all attempts to communicate.  Detectives surrounded the location and applied for a search warrant.  Detectives obtained, and then executed the search warrant at approximately 7:00 PM.  Upon entering the

COMMERCIAL FIRE ON MAIN ST

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene Springfield Fire crews are on scene of a commercial fire on Main St in Springfield, between 20th and 21st.  On arrival crews found heavy fire inside and outside multiple businesses. Main st is closed in both directions until further notice.  The Fire Department is asking people to avoid the area. Cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries have been reported. 

MARIJUANA SEARCH WARRANT

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On April 7, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) conducted a search warrant in the 300 block of Lindy Lane regarding an illegal indoor marijuana growing operation. During the execution of the warrant approximately 750 marijuana plants being grown in the residence were seized and destroyed.  Yongming Chen, 44, Jiankang Chen, 66, and Liuyue Xie, 65, were arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of marijuana.    At the time of this press release the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released.

SEARCH IN PROGRESS FOR MISSING SNOWBOARDER (UPDATE)

Hood River Co. Sheriff's Office MOUNT HOOD, ORE. - Searchers worked throughout the day Wednesday, in an effort to locate missing snowboarder Ryan Mathers on Mt. Hood.  Mathers, who was reported missing to the Sheriff's Office on April 5, was not located during today's operations.  In addition to ground resources, air asset's from the Oregon Army National Guard and drones operated by Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue were utilized to supplement efforts.  More than forty ground searchers in fourteen teams covered a significant amount of area throughout the day.  Ground crews had to contend with increasing avalanche dangers in much of the search area as temperatures rose in the afternoon.   Additional search efforts are planned for April 7, continuing to search the vast terrain accessed from the Shooting Star chair lift at Mt. OSP Troopers seized suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl pills in Linn County

Oregon State Police On March 29, 2022, an OSP Trooper stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation northbound on Interstate 5 in Linn County. During the traffic stop, the Trooper noted indicators of criminal activity. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 47,000 suspected fentanyl pills and 23 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. The driver, from California, and the passenger, from Washington, were both taken into custody.    The Oregon State Police was assisted by the DEA.

Gresham Police Dept UPDATE: Karen was found around midnight, is safe and is now back home. Thanks MCSO! Gresham, Ore.—Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance with locating a missing 62-year-old female, Karen Elaine Panos. Karen was last seen in downtown Portland, near SW 3 rd  Ave. and SW Main St., at approximately 10:00 a.m.  Karen resides in a care facility in Gresham and is in need of medication. She is describe as being 5-feet-4-inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, and weighs 200 pounds. She was last seen wearing a dark winter jacket, black plants, and black/white shoes. Anyone who knows of Karen’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 or non-emergency at 503-823-3333.

Hood River Co. Sheriff's Office MOUNT HOOD, ORE. -  On April 5, 2022 around 9:30 p.m., the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office received information of a missing snowboarder at Mt. Hood Meadows.  The missing subject, identified as Ryan Mather, 30 years old, of Aloha, was reported overdue by his girlfriend at that time.  Mather had been snowboarding at Mt. Hood Meadows during the day and had failed to return to his residence.  Mather’s vehicle was located at Mt. Hood Meadows prompting personnel from the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, Hood River Crag Rats and Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Patrol to initiate an immediate search for Mather.  Overnight operations to locate Mather were not successful.  Search operations on April 6, 2022 will focus on areas around the Shooting Star Express chair lift, which was Mather’s last reported location as of late morning on April 5, 2022, and includes access to some back country areas. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has been notified by Lumen Technologies & Reliance Connect of a telephone service and disrupting the ability of those affected to dial 9-1-1 from their landline telephones. The outage began roughly around 7:18 am on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Residents in the communities of Drain, Yoncalla, Elkton and Scottsburg are experiencing the effects of the telephone service outage. Residents who have cellular telephone service may be able to dial 9-1-1 from their cellular telephone to summon emergency services.  At this time, the telephone providers are unable to provide an estimated time of repair.

Illinois Man Indicted After Sexually Victimizing 29 Minor Females Through Facebook, Including Several Oregon Victims

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 20-8521 JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – A Jackson County Grand Jury indicted a man from Illinois today for forcefully coercing minor females to send sexually explicit images through Facebook and Facebook messenger. The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) began the investigation after receiving a report from a local minor child victim. Through further investigations, SOCET discovered 29 minor child victims throughout the United States and Canada. SOCET worked with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to identify the out-of-state victims and build the federal case. Locally, the case is being prosecuted by the Jackson County District Attorney’s office. The suspect, Michael Anthony Ferris, 43, of Mill Shoals, Illinois, is charged with three felony counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, and coercion. COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE FIRE -- 610 W. LUELLEN DRIVE

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 11:07 a.m. on April 5, 2022, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure at 610 W. Luellen Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a garbage can on fire that was quickly spreading to a nearby commercial structure.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and stopped the forward spread to the remaining portion of the structure.  The commercial structure, currently houses the Hair Affair.  A fire investigator was on scene and the fire was determined to be accidental in nature due to discarded material.  Damage was contained to the garbage can and the exterior siding of the structure. 

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REQUESTS HELP IDENTIFYING DECEASED MALE

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on March 31, 2022, deputies responded to the report of a suspicious wooden box located at a rural cemetery in the 24000 block of Powerline Road near Harrisburg. The caller reported a wooden box about the size of a casket lying on the ground.  Deputies responded and located the box, which appeared to be a hand-built casket, left behind a tree in the cemetery. Investigators spoke with the Board of Directors for the cemetery who stated there were no scheduled burials and could not explain why a casket was left at the location. Upon opening the casket, investigators located a deceased unidentified male.  There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body. The unidentified male is described as a white adult between 30-60 years old, 5’10” tall, weighing 350 pounds, brown and gray hair, wearing size 10.5 shoes and has a healed surgery scar on his lower back.  The investigation is ongoing. FATAL CRASH INTERSTATE 5 -- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On April 5, 2022, at about 5:42AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash on Interstate 5 NB near milepost 132, north of Roseburg.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a Dodge utility truck operated by, Garry Davis, age 57, of Roseburg, was traveling northbound and collided with a pedestrian who was walking in the travel lanes of the freeway.   The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.  The pedestrian was identified as, Anika Jamison, age 24, of Florence.  OSP was assisted by Sutherlin Police Department, Douglas County Fire District 2, ODOT and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office -Medical Examiner’s office.

Reedsport Drug Bust

Reedsport Police K9's On 04/02/2022 at approximately 0034 hours, Officers, Davis and Sparks, conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota Sequoia in result of an ongoing investigation lead by Corporal Snyder and Officer Davis.  Through the investigation, reasonable suspicion was developed resulting in the deployment of K9 Penny. Penny gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.  A search warrant was obtained by Corporal Snyder, which was executed resulting in the seizure of 30 grams of heroin, 20 grams of cocaine, over 500 counterfeit fentanyl laced oxycodone tablets, and 1.25 pounds of methamphetamine.  The sole occupant, Jesse Coleman Spencer of Eugene, was subsequently arrested for possession and delivery of illicit narcotics. Task Force Undercover Operation Identifies Suspects Victimizing Children Online, Arrests Five for Child Sex Crimes

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Cases 22-1740, 22-1743, 22-1744, 22-1763, 22-1768  JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – A months long undercover operation to identify suspects victimizing children online has led to five arrests for attempting to meet and have sex with juveniles in Jackson County. The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) joint inter-agency task force made the arrests over a two-day period this last weekend. The suspects arrested spanned the ages of 35 to 72 years old, and traveled from throughout Oregon including Warren, Redmond, and Klamath Falls, as well as Montague, California. One suspect local to the Rogue Valley was arrested in Gold Hill. Sheriff's Office On the morning of 04/04/2022, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the location of a murder suspect from an overnight shooting in Portland. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office detectives learned the murder suspect and former Bend resident, Keenan Harpole, was at a family property on Homestead Way in Bend, OR 97707.  Detectives contacted Harpole and he agreed to turn himself in. Harpole was taken into custody without incident.  Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies transported Harpole to the Portland Police Bureau and turned him over to their detectives. SHOTS FIRED AT RIVERSIDE PARK

Grants Pass Police Department On Monday, April 4th, 2022, at 8:45 am, a resident across the Rogue River from Riverside Park called 911 to report a male along the riverbank shooting a rifle. The man with the firearm was yelling at someone; however, no other people were seen in that area of Riverside Park. While on the phone with a witness, the 911 dispatcher could hear gunfire over the phone. Police officers converged on Riverside  Park, coordinating their response to ensure a perimeter of safety was established. Police formed two contact teams of officers, and a coordinated approach was conducted. Additional police officers provided real-time updates from their vantage point on the opposite side of the Rogue River. Officers evacuated occupied tents as they continued searching for the gunman. The suspect was located and contacted by police near the Vista Street boat ramp, and when confronted by police, the gunman, later identified as 38-year-old Tyler Watsabaugh surrendered. Watsabaugh

FLEEING SUSPECT RAMS DEPUTY'S PATROL CAR, DISABLING IT AND CAUSING INJURY TO THE DEPUTY

Sheriff's Office A Lane County Sheriff’s deputy attempting to stop a vehicle for traffic violations was injured Sunday night after a suspect used his vehicle to ram the deputy’s patrol vehicle.  Shortly after 9:00pm, a deputy observed a vehicle on Territorial Hwy. near Hwy. 126 driving without a front license plate. After passing by the deputy, the vehicle accelerated to approximately 80mph and began passing unsafely in a no passing area.  At one point the vehicle turned around and started driving back towards Hwy. 126 to which the deputy followed with lights and siren activated.  Near the intersection of Hwy. 126 the suspect stopped his vehicle and turned it into the direction of the pursuing patrol car. The suspect accelerated and smashed into the front of the patrol car, disabling the patrol car and injuring the deputy’s shoulder.  The suspect then sped away eastbound on Hwy. 126.  A short time later, Eugene Police Officers located the suspect vehicle unoccupied at an a

The City of Roseburg Fire Department, in conjunction with Douglas County Fire District #2, will be conducting training exercises at the site of the Old Logger’s Pizza, located at 2060 NW Stewart Parkway, from April 4 to April 15, 2022. OSP SEEKING WITNESSES TO A DUII CRASH HIGHWAY 372- DESCHUTES COUNTY

Oregon State Police On April 1, 2022, at approximately 4:45 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 372 (Cascade Lakes Hwy) near milepost 7. Preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound gray Subaru Crosstrek, operated by Forrest Anton-Erik (23) of Bend, crossed over a double yellow line and collided head-on with a westbound blue Toyota pickup, operated by Catherine Hane (27) of Weaverville, CA. Hane was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Anton-Erik was also transported to the hospital with injuries. Anton-Erik’s blood alcohol content was .14% and he was cited in lieu of custody for DUII, Assault III, and Reckless Driving. This DUII motor vehicle crash occurred within 1 mile of another DUII motor vehicle crash that occurred on August 10, 2021, in which a bicyclist was killed by an intoxicated driver. Oregon State Police On April 3, 2022, at approximately 3:13 P.M., a Toyota Tacoma operated by Paul T. Wells (57) of Roseburg was westbound on Highway 138, when for an unknown reason, it crossed over the eastbound lane and then left the roadway.  The vehicle hit a tree after going down an embankment.  The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.   OSP was assisted by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Forest Services, National Park Ranger, Glide Fire, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, and Reach Air Medical.
