Missing child alert -- Nova Millsap and Artimay Millsap are missing and believed to be at risk

Oregon Department of Human Services (Salem) – Nova Millsap, age 13-months, and Artimay Millsap, age 7-weeks, went missing with their father, Charles Millsap and their mother, Kayle Spills from Bend on July 7. The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Child Welfare Division believes that Nova and Artimay may be at risk and is searching for them to assess their safety. ODHS asks the public to help in the effort to find Nova and Artimay. Anyone who suspects they have information about the location of Nova and Artimay, or their parents should call 911 or local law enforcement.  They are believed to be in the Redmond, Terrebonne or Prineville areas of Oregon. There is also a chance they may travel out of state. They are suspected to be traveling together in a white Honda Accord with Oregon license plate #SBD139. Six-Year Nationwide Manhunt Ends as Local Task Force Arrests South Carolina Murder Fugitive in Medford

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case #22-4188 MEDFORD, Ore. – The United States Marshals Service led Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) tracked down and arrested a South Carolina murder suspect on Lincoln Street in Medford yesterday afternoon, putting an end to the man’s six-year run from the law. U.S. Marshals along with Central Point Police Department (CPPD) arrested the fugitive, John Tufton Blauvelt, 33, following a lead provided by a cold case team of investigators at the U.S. Marshal’s headquarters in Arlington, Va. Medford Police  Department (MPD) assisted with the investigation. Blauvelt is being held in the Jackson County Jail pending extradition to South Carolina to face the charges against him. Blauvelt is wanted in connection with the murder of his estranged wife, Catherine “Cati” Blauvelt, who was found stabbed to death in an abandoned home in Simpsonville, S.C., on October 26, 2016. Officer observance & community assistance lead to burglary arrest

Springfield Police Department On 07/19/22 at 1321 hours, Officers responded to a burglary at a residence on Summit Blvd. The victim reported the suspect had just left the residence and the house was ransacked. Several Officers responded to the area and conducted a search for the suspect, but no one was located initially. Eventually a neighboring resident flagged down an Officer and advised they heard about the burglary and their security camera captured images of the suspect. The video and photos were shared with responding Officers along with a detailed vehicle and suspect description. While responding to a separate call on 40th St., Animal Control Officer Brian Austin (also a Reserve Police Officer) observed the suspect vehicle at the same residence as the ongoing call. Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-0837 GOLD HILL, Ore. – The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) joint inter-agency task force alongside Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Patrol deputies and Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives, served a search warrant this morning at a residence on the 9900 block of Old Stage Road in Gold Hill. Investigators from JCSO, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Jackson County District Attorney’s office, and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force (SOHTCTF) served the warrant this morning after discovering numerous images of child exploitation were uploaded from the residence. RV FIRE DAMAGES TWO WEST EUGENE HOMES

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported RV fire at 2580 Haig St in West Eugene.  Crews arrived to find a fully involved RV fire that had spread to two homes and near by trees.  Firefighters were able to stop the fire’s spread shortly after arriving.  High temps and and wind fueled the fire spread. There were no reported injuries and the cause is under investigation.  

Sheriff Crisis Negotiation Team Talks Barricaded Suspect into Surrendering Peacefully

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-4156 RURAL JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) peacefully resolved a potentially volatile situation yesterday afternoon. JCSO Patrol deputies responded to a domestic violence assault call on the 14000 block of Upper Applegate Road outside of Jacksonville. When JCSO deputies contacted the reportedly armed suspect, he slammed the door and barricaded himself inside his residence. The victim was able to safely exit the residence. CNT was activated and made phone contact with the suspect at approximately 2:18 p.m. After establishing an open dialogue, the crisis negotiators convinced the suspect to leave the residence unarmed with his hands up and surrender peacefully to the awaiting deputies. Hanks was reported missing on July 8, 2022, by her family after she didn't arrive home from her place of employment. Hanks was last seen walking past B&D Meats on Highway 42 near Grange Road at approximately 4:00 pm. Since her disappearance, the Sheriff's Office has been tirelessly searching for information. Local Illegal Marijuana Task Force Identifies Medford Black-Market Cannabis Shipping Business, Seizes $1.19 Million, 16 Firearms

Jackson County Sheriff's Office MPD Case 22-4457 MEDFORD, Ore. - Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force (SOHTCTF) served two search warrants on a black-market marijuana shipping organization the morning of May 13. The search warrants were part of a yearlong investigation into the illegal shipping of black-market marijuana and other illicit substances from Southern Oregon throughout the United States. The investigation identified a local business, residence, and multiple suspects involved in the illegal activity.  Detectives identified multiple suspects during their investigation. Jonathan James Quintero, 53, was contacted and interviewed at the business and criminal charges are pending further investigation. Barricaded menacing suspect arrested safely

Eugene Police Department   On July 17 at 11:11 p.m., a Eugene Police officer was dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 3100 block of Duke Snider Avenue in Eugene. Prior to police arrival, the male suspect, James Scott Sanders, age 50, had left the residence and gotten into his van, which was parked nearby. There was probably cause for Sanders for Menacing APA (Abuse Prevention Act).   Sanders barricaded himself inside the van and refused to exit. He was armed with a knife and was making threats. After negotiation attempts failed, officers broke out a side window and deployed pepper balls inside. Sanders grabbed his knife and a blanket, came outside and advanced on officers while making suicide-by-cop statements. Less than lethal options were deployed including tasers, pepper ball, and 40-millimeter sponge rounds to gain compliance and disarm Sanders safely. Update, man sentenced in murder of his grandparents

Eugene Police Department Eugene Police Violent Crimes detectives continued detailed and thorough work on the case of two elderly person’s deaths by their grandson. Nicholas Kenneth Borden-Cortez was arrested and VCU’s primary detective submitted the case to the Lane County District’s Attorney.  On June 14, the investigation reached a conclusion when Borden Cortez pled guilty in Lane County Circuit Court to the murder of his grandparents. He was sentenced on July 13 to two life terms, one for each victim. He could be eligible for parole after a minimum sentence of 50 years in Oregon Department of Corrections.    Previous Information:    At 10:25 a.m., on May 7, 2021, Eugene Police responded to a suspicious conditions call at a home in the Falconwood Mobile Home Park at 1475 Green Acres Road. ADULT IN CUSTODY WALKS AWAY FROM DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS WORK CREW VAN

Oregon Dept. of Corrections Adult in custody (AIC) Jay Boyd Marsh walked away from a Department of Corrections (DOC) van while being transported back to Santiam Correctional Institution (SCI) from a work crew assignment. While the van was stopped at a stop light outside Lebanon at Berry and Main Streets, Marsh opened the door and ran away from the van. Marsh was last seen at approximately 2:46 PM. Marsh was working on an Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) work crew. Marsh, 57, is a white male weighing 165 lbs., 5’ 9’’ tall, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. Marsh entered DOC custody on April 19, 2022, on one count of unauthorized vehicle use out of Linn County. His earliest release date is November 22, 2023. The DOC Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Lebanon and Albany Police, and the Oregon State Police are investigating. FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On July 16, 2022 at approximately 12:55 PM a Deputy from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a motor vehicle near the 5500 Block of Rockydale Road in Cave Junction.  The vehicle sped up attempting to elude law enforcement.  The vehicle began driving recklessly and the deputy terminated the pursuit in the interest of public safety.  Shortly after, the vehicle was found crashed through a power pole, fence and into trees on the roadside.  The driver James Scott Mattox 38-year-old male and sole occupant was conscious but trapped inside the vehicle. Illinois Valley Fire, American Medical Response and Pacific Power responded to the scene and extricated the driver.  The driver was subsequently transported to Rogue Regional Hospital in Medford where he later died from his injuries.  Next of kin have been notified.  This case is still under investigation and additional details are not available. 

OREGON STATE POLICE IS REQUESTING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN A HIT AND RUN- JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On July 18, 2022, the Oregon State Police responded to a report of a hit and run crash involving a bicyclist that occurred on U.S. Highway 199-mile post 27, just south of Kerby, Oregon.  The crash occurred sometime between the late evening hours of July 17, or the early morning hours of July 18. The victim was discovered in a ditch by another person at which time emergency services were notified and responded.  The victim suffered severe injuries and was transported to an area hospital.  The driver of the suspect vehicle did not stop after the crash and continued traveling north on Hwy 199.  An investigation into the crash is underway. Troopers did locate potential evidence related to another vehicle at the scene that will be analyzed to determine the vehicle's make, model, year, and potential involvement in the crash. Man Sets up Roadblock, Shoots Theft Suspect on Public Roadway; Charged with Attempted Murder

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-4098 JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – A suspect is in the Jackson County Jail this morning after shooting an alleged theft suspect last night on Thompson Creek Road near Jacksonville. The shooting victim was shot three times while driving past the suspect on a public roadway. The suspect, Douglas Brinton Walker, 64, of Williams, Ore., has been charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree attempted murder. The victim is in a local hospital and currently out of surgery and in recovery.  Just before 10 p.m. last night Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies received a report of shots fired and a car speeding off northbound on the 6000 block of Thompson Creek Road. Around 45 minutes later, the victim knocked on a resident’s door on the 17000 block of Highway 238 and reported being shot. Oregon State Police, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and JCSO responded. FATAL CRASH HWY 226- LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, June 6, 2022, at approximately 6:22 p.m., Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 226 near milepost 21.  A grey Infiniti was traveling southbound when it drove off onto the right shoulder for unknown reasons. The driver, Oksana Titarenko (24) of Keizer, overcorrected and went across the northbound lane and onto the northbound shoulder before it rolled at least twice. A passenger, Mikhail Ermolenko (30) of Salem, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Titarenko was transported to a local area hospital for precaution and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Titarenko was subsequently arrested and transported to the Linn County Jail, where she was lodged. OSP was assisted by Lyons Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

SUSPECT INDICTED ON NINE SEX CRIME CHARGES

Sherwood Police Dept. Detectives believe Barry Collins Jr, age 32, committed several acts of sexual abuse against a child victim over the course of several months. The victim recently disclosed the abuse to a family member and Sherwood Police Detectives conducted an investigation.  Based on that investigation, Mr. Collins was indicted by a Washington County Grandy Jury on 9 felony criminal charges: Sodomy in the First Degree (Felony) – 6 counts Sex Abuse in the First Degree (Felony) – 2 counts Incest (Felony) – 1 count Following the indictment, a Washington County Circuit Court Judge issued a Secret Indictment Arrest Warrant. Mr. Collins was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on a bail of $2 Million. CREWS RESCUE PETS FROM BURNING EUGENE HOME

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene, OR. Eugene Springfield Fire crews rescued 3 cats and 3 dogs from a burning home on the 100 block of Maynard Ave in Eugene Saturday morning.  Arriving Firefighters found fire burning in the kitchen and attic area of the home with the owner safely outside reporting trapped pets.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-4007 CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives including Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and Medford Police Department (MPD) officers served a search warrant on a marijuana grow site on the 4100 block of Corey Road in Central Point early yesterday morning. An armed suspect attempted to flee the scene but was quickly detained hiding at a nearby property on the 3400 block of Randall Avenue. The suspect was armed with a pistol and has been charged with interfering with a peace officer, resisting arrest, second-degree criminal trespass, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful carrying or concealing of a firearm, and unlawful manufacture of marijuana. The suspect was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. The property contained approximately 2,748 illegal cannabis plants in seven greenhouses, as well as approximately 1000 lbs. of processed black-market marijuana, and seven firearms.  One of the seized r
