POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE IN WEST GRESHAM NEIGHBORHOOD

Gresham Police Dept Gresham Oregon- At approximately 7:00 am, officers responded to the report of a stabbing at a residential care facility located at 945 NE 165th AVE. When they arrived, they discovered a female employee who was deceased. From there, the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team was activated. This afternoon, detectives arrested 59-year-old James Smith of Gresham. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for Murder in the 2nd Degree.

Gresham Police Dept Gresham Oregon- At approximately 7:00 am, officers responded to the report of a stabbing at a residential facility in the 900 block of NE 165th AVE. When they arrived, they discovered an adult female who was deceased. The East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team was activated, and the investigation is ongoing. At this time there is no one outstanding and no active risk to the public.  

Flat Fire Update-July 16, 2023

US Forest Service - Rouge River - Siskiyou National Forest Current estimated size for the Flat Fire, which is located in Oak Flat, which is two miles SW of Agness is 2000-3000 acres.  Due to high winds and steep terrain, the fire grew rapidly since reported at around 6:00 p.m. yesterday.  Numerous ground resources and a robust air response engaged the fire, but despite these efforts, fire behavior was extreme with ¼ mile spotting and fire spread on both sides of the Illinois River.     Last night we worked on the east flank with a CFPA dozer, engines and a handcrew to protect the community of Oak Flat.  The Incident Commander (IC) and engines were engaged on the fire throughout the night.   Additional resources will be arriving this morning and throughout the day.  A Type III IC will be taking the fire this morning and NW Team 6 is enroute to the fire with an inbrief scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today.   Extensive air resources will be utilized throughout the day, as well as an aggressive r

GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— The Gresham Police Department and the East County Major Crimes Team (MCT) are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 300 block of SE 162 Ave. Officers received a 911 call at 3:23 p.m., on reports of a shooting. Officers, along with Portland Fire, responded to the location and found the subject was deceased inside an apartment. Officers located two subjects related to the shooting that were taken into custody. This is an active investigation, and no further details are available at this time. Based on preliminary information, we do not believe there is a danger to the public. HIT AND RUN CRASH INVOLVING SERIOUS INJURY

Sheriff's Office UPDATE  07/14/23 Deputies located the suspect vehicle from this case in the Cottage Grove area and determined it to be a gray 2009 Honda Civic.  Deputies also identified the driver as 24-year-old Modesto Ramos-Lopez. Deputies contacted Ramos-Lopez yesterday afternoon and took him into custody without incident.  He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including Assault in the 2 nd  Degree, Hit & Run, Reckless Driving, and Assault in the 4 th  Degree. GRESHAM MAN CAUGHT TRANSPORTING METHAMPHETAMINE TO CENTRAL OREGON SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon EUGENE, Ore.—A Gresham, Oregon man with a lengthy criminal history was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Wednesday after he was arrested transporting methamphetamine in Deschutes County. Dennis Richard DeChenne Jr., 39, was sentenced to 130 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, in April 2020, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team began investigating DeChenne after learning he was involved in transporting large quantities of methamphetamine and heroin from the Portland area to Central Oregon for resale. Investigators determined that DeChenne, after transporting the drugs, would stay in a Bend, Oregon hotel for several days at a time and use local runners to sell the drugs. Near midnight on August 19, 2020, CODE team members located DeChenne at a casino in southern Oregon. He was arrested the next day by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies. District Attorney's Office In a case prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Devin Franklin, yesterday Davonte Arnez Donahue, 30, pled guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree Constituting Domestic Violence and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Weapon with a Firearm Constituting Domestic Violence; he also pled no contest to two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree. Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Marshall sentenced him yesterday to 25 years in prison. Intoxicated knife-wielding man arrested for State Parole Warrant

Coos County Sheriff's Office On July 10 th , 2023, around 10:34 pm, the Coos County Dispatch Center received a 911 call for a disturbance on East Bluebird Lane in North Bend. While en route to the location, Deputy Z. Smith was informed that a male behind the residence was hitting the building with a knife. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith learned from the property owner that the parties causing the disturbance had been separated. However, the male, identified as Joel Smith (44), was still behind the residence. It was confirmed that Joel had active warrants for his arrest, including a State Parole Warrant. Deputy Smith tried to make contact with Joel, but he ran through the back door of the residence.  Deputy Smith located Joel hiding in the bottom of a closet in the residence. After being ordered out of the closet, Joel was arrested for his warrants. Joel was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged for the State Parole Warrant and a Misdemeanor Probation Viola

FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH ON LONDON RD.

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office This morning shortly after 3:00am, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a two-vehicle traffic crash on London Rd. near milepost 11.  Preliminary investigation reveals that a white Ford pickup had been driving southbound on London Rd. when it failed to negotiate a curve.  The pickup crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound Dodge pickup head-on. The driver of the Dodge pickup died at the scene.  The driver of the Ford pickup was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.  This crash is still under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4179 opt. 1.
