TWO LOCAL MEN ARRESTED AS RESULT OF INTERNET CHILD-LURING INVESTIGATIONS

Lincoln City Police Lincoln City Police Officers have been conducting several online child-luring investigations over the past few months, which have resulted in the recent arrests of two local men. During the investigations, officers posing as underage children on various online social media platforms were contacted by adult men who offered to meet up with a person they believed to be a minor for sex or used online communications to solicit a child to engage in sexual contact or sexually explicit conduct. The following arrests were made during the course of these investigations. On November 9, 2023, 56-year-old Scott Anthony Cotter of Lincoln City, Oregon, was arrested after he arrived at an undisclosed public location to meet up with a minor for sex. Cotter had been chatting on social media with undercover officers and during conversations had sent graphic messages depicting various sexual acts along with sending nude photos of himself. SOUTHBOUND I-5 CLOSED AFTER FATAL CRASH ON MARQUAM BRIDGE

Portland Police Bureau On Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 9:46a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a crash on southbound I-5 midspan Marquam Bridge (lower deck). When they arrived they found a motorcyclist down with passers-by engaging in first aid efforts. The rider, an adult male, was transported to a hospital by ambulance. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died. Preliminary investigation suggests the crash involved only the motorcyclist and no other motorists were involved. The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to investigate the crash. During the investigation, all lanes of I-5 southbound are closed. The ramp from northbound I-405 Fremont Bridge to southbound I-5 is closed. The westbound I-84 to southbound I-5 ramp is also closed. Eagle Point Couple Arrested for Child Sex Crimes, Special Victims Unit Detectives Looking for Other Underage Victims

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives arrested an Eagle Point couple last Thursday, November 16th for multiple sex crimes involving a child under the age of 12. The suspects are Colton Joseph Thornton, 28, and Elizabeth Nicole Shockey-Rydall, 31, both of Eagle Point. Thornton is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual penetration, first-degree sodomy, and first-degree sexual abuse. Shockey is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. They are both lodged in the Jackson County Jail.   JCSO SVU detectives believe Thornton may have other juvenile victims. CRASH INVESTIGATORS RESPOND TO SECOND FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN SIX DAYS

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—A traffic crash resulted in Gresham’s 12th traffic fatality this year. Shortly before 7:00 p.m., Gresham police officers and medical personnel responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and minivan, in the 17600 block of SE Division St. When medical personnel arrived, they determined the motorcycle rider had died as a result of the crash. The driver of the minivan stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The East Metro Vehicular Crimes Team (VCT) responded to the scene and is investigating the crash just 5 days after responding to another fatal motorcycle involved crash on 181 Ave. near Wilkes Rd. DETECTIVES SEEKING WITNESSES IN AFTERNOON STABBING

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation of a stabbing that occurred at NE Hogan Rd and NE 19 St. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man had been stabbed just before 3:45 p.m. and provided care to the victim before medical responders arrived. Available Gresham Police officers and assisting Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies surrounded the area while a MCSO canine deputy searched the area with a tracking dog. Despite a large police presence and a canine search, the suspect was not located. The victim was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.   Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation. JESSE D HOLT SENTENCED TO 41 MONTHS IN PRISON IN BURGLARY CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore- On November 21, 2023, Jesse D Holt pleaded guilty to one count of Burglary in the First Degree with the intent to commit Sex Abuse. Judge Eric Buchér sentenced the defendant to 41 months in prison. Deputy District Attorney Alyssa Camp prosecuted the case. On June 2, 2023, the defendant smashed a window and broke into a home in Hillsboro, Oregon. The homeowners had just put their two young children to bed. One of the victims heard a noise but didn’t realize anything was wrong until she saw the defendant coming up the stairs towards her bedroom. She began screaming as the defendant approached her in her bed, at which point her husband made his presence known and chased the defendant from the home.  The victims found the broken window and saw that the defendant prepared his escape by unlocking their back door. Coos County Man Arrested After Domestic Violence Incident

Coos County Sheriff's Office   On November 21st, 2023, at approximately 2:30 am, Coos County Dispatch received a distressing 911 call from a victim of domestic violence, urgently requesting the presence of law enforcement. The victim reported that Alejandro Lopez (34), the suspect, had left the residence in a green Subaru Legacy.   Responding swiftly to the call, Deputy B. Freerksen arrived at a residence on Tom Smith Rd in Bandon to commence an investigation. During the investigation, Deputy Freerksen gathered crucial information, revealing that Mr. Lopez had physically assaulted the victim by forcefully kicking them off the bed and subsequently placing his arm around their neck, causing a restriction of their ability to breathe or call for help.   Fortunately, the victim was able to get out of his grasp and yell for help. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office RIDDLE, Ore.  - A Grants Pass man is dead and another is wounded after a shooting on Monday night in Riddle. On Monday, November 20, 2023, shortly after 11:30 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received information about a shooting which had taken place in the area of Main Street / E. Third Avenue in Riddle. Deputies arrived on scene to learn that one victim, 20-year-old Devonte Lovell Clark of Grant Pass had died at the scene. A second Grants Pass man, 29-year-old Killian Mavity, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. Mavity was transported to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of his injuries. Detectives are currently seeking information as to the whereabouts of 19-year-old Gauge Douglas James Main of Riddle. ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CAVE JUNCTION SHOOTING

Sheriff's Office On November 21, 2023, at 12:28 PM, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle of interest regarding a shooting incident that occurred on November 19, 2023, on S Kerby Avenue in Cave Junction.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jessy J Forrest, a 21-year-old Cave Junction resident.  As a result of the investigative efforts of Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Forrest was arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the charges listed below. Deschutes County Sheriff's Office The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office has recently received a report of a missing Bend area woman.  The reporting party states Kasie Marie Mae Jones was last seen around June 2023.  The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating and checking the welfare of Jones.  She was last known to be living off the east side of Hwy 97 near mile post 132, just north of Bend.  Jones is described as a white female, 5’1”, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.  A photo of Jones from 2018 is attached to this press release.  Anyone with information or that may have seen Jones is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911 and ask for Detective Bryan Morris.                       Click Here To Download Our App

FEDERAL CHARGES FILED AFTER "FENTANYL PRESS" FOUND IN GLADSTONE APARTMENT

  U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—An 18-year-old drug trafficker with ties to a recent fatal overdose is facing federal charges after he was caught transporting several packages of powdered fentanyl and a 20-ton shop press used to manufacture fentanyl bricks was found in his apartment. Cristhian Martinez, 18, of Gladstone, Oregon, has been charged by criminal complaint with possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. According to court documents, in September 2023, members of the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force (CCITF) were called to investigate a fatal overdose in Clackamas County. While processing the scene, investigators discovered numerous counterfeit M30 Oxycodone pills believed to be manufactured with fentanyl. FATAL CRASH - HWY 238 - JACKSON COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, November 17, 2023, at 3:15 p.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 238, near milepost 25, in Jackson County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Ford Aspire, operated by Seaven James Wyatt (79) of Jacksonville, made a left turn onto Upper Applegate Road.  The Ford crossed into the path of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma, operated by Ramon Rios Duran (70) of Medford, causing a side-impact collision.   The operator of the Ford (Wyatt) was declared deceased after transport.   The operator of the Toyota (Duran) suffered reported minor injuries.   The highway was impacted for approximately 2.5 hours during the on-scene investigation.   OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Applegate Valley Fire, Mercy Flights, and ODOT.                Click Here To Download Our App

FATAL CRASH - HWY 26 - TILLAMOOK COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 5:12 a.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 26, near milepost 33, in Tillamook County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Kia Optima, operated by Isaiah Rasheid Edlin (23) of Hillsboro, crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Toyota Corolla, operated by Carole Ann Klages (77) of Warrenton, head-on.   A witness reported the Kia had been observed traveling at high speeds and making unsafe passes prior to the crash. The witness did not observe the crash itself.   The operator of the Kia (Edlin) was declared deceased at the scene.   The operator of the Toyota (Klages) was declared deceased at the scene.   The highway was impacted for approximately 6 hours during the on-scene investigation.   OSP was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Banks Fire, and ODOT.                   Click Here To Download Our App

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 3:44 PM, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from Oregon State Police responded to the 1700 block of White Schoolhouse Road, Cave Junction, for a reported shooting incident.  Upon arrival, Deputies and Troopers located two deceased males with apparent gunshot wounds.  Due to the nature of the incident and the lack of investigative resources, the Sheriff’s Office requested the Oregon State Police investigate this incident. The Oregon State Police has assumed the investigation, and our office will have nothing further to report. On November 19, 2023, at 12:44 PM, Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from Oregon State Police responded to a call regarding shots fired in the 100 Block of S Kerby Road, Cave Junction. Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On November 17, 2023, at 9:49 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a report about a person jumping off of Robertson Bridge.  A citizen driving their vehicle across Robertson Bridge reported seeing a person dressed in all black who jumped from the bridge.  The age and sex of the person who jumped is unknown. Deputies responded to the area and searched for a person in or near the water. Rural Metro Fire Department and American Medical Response also assisted with searching the area however nobody was located.
