LOCAL BARBER ARRESTED IN SEX CRIMES INVESTIGATION

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — Salem Police Special Victims Unit detectives arrested a local barber in connection with a sex crimes investigation. Eron David Griffin, age 42 of Salem, became the focus of an investigation that began in October 2023 after teen victims reported being subjected to sexual contact during visits with him. Griffin was subsequently arrested on several charges, including three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and commercial sexual solicitation.  Based on the investigation, detectives suspect there may be other minors who were victimized by Griffin who ran the barbershop from his residence. Anyone who has had similar incidents involving Griffin, or who may have information relevant to the case, is asked to contact Detective Sabrina Hunter at 503-588-540-2443. SEARCH WARRANT SERVED RESULTS IN ONE ARRESTED, GUNS AND DRUGS SEIZED

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — A 32-year-old Salem man was arrested today during the service of a warrant at a home in southeast Salem. Tyler Joel Alvis was arrested this morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. by Strategic Investigations Unit detectives at a residence in the 5000 block of Coloma CT SE. The detectives were assisted by a small contingent of tactical officers and agents from the  Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives  (ATF) and the  Federal Bureau of Investigation  (FBI). The search of the home resulted in the seizure of four firearms (two semi-automatic AR style rifles and two handguns), a small quantity of suspected fentanyl, and associated paraphernalia. Alvis was lodged at the  Marion County Jail  on the  charges  of felon in possession of a firearm (four counts) and an outstanding parole violation warrant. CORVALLIS FARMING ACCIDENT TAKES LIFE OF DALLAS, OREGON MAN

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office Corvallis, Ore.  – On February 1, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Corvallis Fire Department, responded to a tragic incident at a dairy farm south of Corvallis, in which a male lost his life.  Deputies arrived and located David Breyman III, 56, of Dallas, who was unconscious, not breathing, and did not have a pulse. Deputies and citizens on scene attempted lifesaving efforts but were unsuccessful.  Corvalis Fire Department personnel arrived soon after and were able to assist getting Breyman unpinned by removing part of the wall. They also attempted life saving measures without success. The incident involved a truck carrying 27 tons of corn meal feed. Breyman was alone and in the process of unloading the feed by using the trailer’s unloading mechanism. It appeared the feed caused the gate to swing open and push him against the barn wall, causing him to be pinned.  A farm worker was nearby and heard Breyman y

UPDATE: LOCAL PODIATRIST FACING NEW SEX ABUSE CHARGES, ADDITIONAL VICTIMS SOUGHT

Portland Police Bureau Since December, seven women have come forward and reported Dr. Brian M. Bowen, 49, sexually abused them. The alleged abuse happened between August 2022 and October 2023, during podiatry exams at Eastside Foot & Ankle, located in the 1800 block of Northeast 44th Avenue. In total, there are now nine victims involved in the December 2023 and January 2024 indictments. Dr. Bowen is now indicted on the following charges: two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, one count of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, nine counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, and two counts of Sex Abuse by Fraudulent Representation. The final two counts stem from a new law that went into effect in July 2023, aimed at medical professionals that commit sexual abuse through fraudulent representation. This is an ongoing investigation, and the DA’s Office and Portland Police are asking any other patients who have had similar experiences with Dr. Bowen to come forward. His photograph

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Just before midnight, a Lane County Sheriff’s Sergeant on patrol in the Pleasant Hill area noticed a vehicle drive slowly through an intersection, then accelerate away when he turned to follow. The Sergeant quickly found the vehicle in a driveway near Enterprise Road and Hendricks Road. Knowing the residents, he confirmed the vehicle did not belong. The vehicle was associated with Cecil Rae Needham, 49. Needham, known to be a felon on post-prison supervision, had a warrant out for his arrest for Theft 2 and a Deputy had probable cause for arrest on an unrelated Theft 2 case. Needham is well known to Deputies for his attempts to elude arrest and hide from law enforcement. They also had recent information that Needham was armed with a handgun. A female, Alexis McKenzie Roccaforte Porter, 22, was contacted in front of the house. Porter said she had just been dropped off to see a friend who lived in an RV trailer behind the house. FATAL CRASH AT HIGHWAY 20/HIGHWAY 180

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore.  – On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputies responded to a two-vehicle single-fatality crash on Highway 20 near Blodgett, Oregon. A Ford F150 pickup was stopped on Highway 180 waiting to turn eastbound onto Highway 20. For an unknown reason, the driver of the pickup pulled out in front of an unloaded log truck, traveling westbound on Highway 20. The driver of the log truck tried to avoid the collision with the Ford but was unable to.  The driver of the log truck, 36-year-old Edwin Sondenaa from Siletz, was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with minor injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck, 61-year-old Michael Fetch from Hubbard, was pronounced deceased at the scene. ANA MERCEDES MIRANDA SENTENCED TO 100 MONTHS IN PRISON IN CHILD ABUSE CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore- On January 30, 2024, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Chris Colburn sentenced Ana Mercedes Miranda to 100 months in prison. On January 12, 2024, the defendant pleaded guilty to four counts of Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Tampering with a Witness. Senior Deputy District Attorney Andy Pulver prosecuted this case. The defendant, age 68, gained custody of the victim children in 2017. Beginning in 2018, she began subjecting them to emotional and then physical abuse. One child in particular, aged younger than 10, was regularly deprived of proper nutrition and sometimes tied to his bed during the night. She also regularly inflicted physical abuse upon that child and his siblings. As time progressed, the defendant began using a metal chain and padlocks to bind the child to furniture.  Authorities became aware of the abuse in April of 2023. EASTERN OREGON DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—An eastern Oregon drug dealer identified by law enforcement as part of an investigation into a fatal overdose on the Umatilla Indian Reservation was sentenced to federal prison today, announced the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon. Ulises Echevarria-Molina, 40, of Pendleton, Oregon, was sentenced to 75 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, on May 15, 2021, officers from the Umatilla Tribal Police Department responded to a suspected fatal drug overdose at the Wildhorse Casino in Pendleton and located several counterfeit Oxycodone pills believed to contain fentanyl near the deceased victim. Toxicology reports later confirmed the victim had consumed fentanyl and cocaine prior to their death.  Further investigation revealed that the overdose victim likely obtained the fentanyl pills from a family member’s supply and the family member had recently purchased fe

Oregon State Police DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. 31 Jan. 2023  – On Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at 1:22 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 42 near milepost 75 in Douglas County.  The preliminary investigation indicated a Freightliner tanker truck was pulling into the center turn lane to merge onto Hwy. 42 to travel eastbound. A Jeep Liberty, operated by Bronwyn Gnagy (19) of Winston, was traveling eastbound and abruptly stopped in the left lane as the tanker merged into the center turn lane. A bunked Mack log truck, operated by Christopher P. Morgan (28) of Roseburg, was traveling behind the Jeep Liberty. The log truck operator braked; however, was unable to stop in time and struck the Jeep Liberty from behind. The Jeep Liberty sustained heavy rear end damage.  Two passengers in the Jeep Liberty, Tabitha M. Medford Police Investigating Armed Robbery on Stewart Avenue

Medford Police Dept.   At about 1:58 AM on Wednesday, January 31, the Medford Police Department responded to the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Time Out Sports Bar in the 1200-block of Stewart Ave. Upon our arrival, the suspect had fled on foot. Officers learned that an unknown subject displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, who was in the process of closing the business for the night. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.  Officers used a police K9 to track the suspect through nearby neighborhoods but were unable to locate them. We are releasing a photo from the businesses video surveillance system in hopes that a member of the public may have some information about the suspect’s identity. Please keep in mind that colors, height, and weight may be distorted in these photos. We do believe the suspect to be a younger white male of slim build. The suspect is wearing all dark clothing, a hood, gloves and a black and white face mask.

FATAL CRASH -- HWY 99W -- LANE COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at 3:49 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 99W, near milepost 109, in Lane County.     The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Mitsubishi Montero, operated by Kimberly Michelle Pratt (33) of Eugene, left the roadway on the west side of the highway for unknown reasons. The vehicle rolled onto its top and stopped off the roadway in a residential driveway.    The operator (Pratt) was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene. GRESHAM POLICE K9 RECON RETIRES/NEW K9 IN TRAINING

Gresham Police Dept On Monday, Jan. 29, one of Gresham Police Department’s (GPD) longest serving K9s, Recon, formally retired. Recon began his career in Gresham in spring 2015 and worked his last shift in fall 2023. He worked with two handlers during his tenure, first with Officer Jason Justus and later with Officer Jarred Hansen. In 2017 he became a dual-purpose canine, utilized in both patrol operations and narcotics detection. Alongside his handlers, Recon worked to protect and serve his community and the surrounding area, capturing suspects and helping ensure community safety.  Over the course of his career, Recon assisted with more than 140 captures and more than 500 surrenders. Recon can look forward to a well-earned retirement and will be staying in the Gresham Police Department family. REDMOND POLICE AND CERT RECOVER $50,000 IN STOLEN ITEMS - TWO SUBJECTS ARRESTED

Redmond Police Dept. Redmond, Oregon  – The Redmond Police Department (RPD) executed a search warrant on a camp located on BLM land east of the city today. Following the completion of an investigation which began on January 16, officers, with the assistance of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) executed the warrant at 8:00 a.m. 50-year-old Ryan Pooschke and 26-year-old Breann Sullens were taken into custody and lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on multiple charges to include; Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated First Degree Theft, First Degree Criminal Mischief, Second-Degree Criminal Trespass, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon and Probation Violation. CERT was activated based on the criminal history of Mr. Pooschke along with information he may be in possession of a firearm. SHOOTING IN STORE PARKING LOT LEAVES THREE INJURED

Salem Police Department The three people injured in yesterday’s shooting incident have been identified.  The woman, 30-year-old Julia Thea Dora Dorfler of Eugene, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and remains hospitalized. Two men, 30-year-old Jamie Eugene Thomason and 28-year-old Chance Taylor Brason Towlerton, both of Springfield, also sustained gunshot wounds. Thomason remains in the hospital, and Towlerton was treated and released. Detectives have arrested Robert Josh, Jr., age 62 of Springfield, for his suspected involvement in the shooting. Josh was lodged today at the  Marion County Jail  on the following  charges : Second-degree attempted murder First-degree assault Unlawful use of a weapon, firearm Andrew William Beebe, age 28 of Eugene, was also arrested on an outstanding parole violation warrant.  All individuals in this incident are known to one another.  Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further information is being released at this time.
