Redmond Police Dept. REDMOND, OR – The Redmond Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who are involved in multiple criminal cases in Redmond. The two suspects, one male and one female are believed to have committed theft related crimes at Wal Mart, Texaco, Wilco, and Rite Aid. The crimes occurred between March 17, 2024, and March 19, 2024.  The crimes have victimized local business as well as citizens shopping at these businesses.    The suspects have been seen driving a red passenger car with a luggage rack on top. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Lane County Sheriff’s Office K9 located a large amount of illegal drugs in a vehicle.   K9 Bear assisted with a traffic stop in the search for illegal drugs. K9 Bear was able to assist in locating a kilo of pure fentanyl and approximately 50,000 fentanyl pills that were located in a hidden compartment of the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle have been referred for prosecution. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Deputies were on the lookout for 56 year old Walter Edward Boss of Junction City yesterday after he made threats to go to a local police station and shoot law enforcement officers.  Boss was observed in his vehicle by a deputy near the town of Coburg.  Boss pulled behind the lone deputy’s vehicle and began chasing him.  The deputy was able to safely disengage and wait for backup.  Other units, including troopers with the Oregon State Police, responded to the area and located Boss still driving in his vehicle at which time a pursuit ensued.  During the pursuit, Boss pointed a rifle and laser at responding personnel. The rifle was later discovered to be an airsoft rifle that resembles a real rifle. The pursuit ended on Powerline Road where Boss got out of his vehicle with the rifle that had the laser attached. After attempting to injure himself, deputies were able to take Boss into custody. Boss was taken to the hospital due to a minor self-inflicted injury

Oregon City Police Dept. UPDATE -Thanks to the public’s assistance Mr. Groat was just located and taken into custody. On March 22 nd , 2024, at about 11:26 p.m. the Oregon City Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Circle K gas station located at 19791 Highway 213 in Oregon City, Oregon.  The employee was not physically injured during the robbery.  A coordinated effort was made to locate the suspect, who was later identified as 42-year-old Thomas James Groat, however, officers were unable to locate him. OCPD detectives continued the investigation during the weekend.   On March 25 th , 2024, at about 10:41 a.m. while doing follow-up on the case, an OCPD detective observed Mr. Groat on foot near Molalla Ave and Gaffney Lane.  Additional resources were called to the scene and a search was done for Mr. Groat.  During this search, a request was made to CCOM (dispatch) to have residents in the search area shelter in place.  Mr. Groat was not located and the shelter in place

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore- On March 22, 2024, Joshua Michael Best pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree with a firearm. Washington County Circuit Court Judge Brandon Thompson sentenced the defendant to 90 months in prison. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted this case.  On August 20, 2022, the defendant went to the Sunset Strip in Washington County with a woman named Heather Lundy. He and Ms. Lundy assaulted a woman inside and were forced to leave by an employee working security. Mr. Best told the employee he was going to shoot up the establishment. As he was driving away, he aimed a handgun in the direction of the employee and fired several rounds before leaving the scene. The defendant is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess weapons.  Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded. Deschutes County Sheriff's Office On March 20, 2024, The Major Incident Team was activated to investigate the officer involved shooting that had taken place on Highway 97 at approximately mile post 136. The Deschutes County Sheriff Office is leading the Major Incident Team. In conjunction with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, the Major Incident Team, and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office the initial investigation has revealed the decedent, Gabriel Platz, brandished a firearm during his contact with the City of Bend Police Department moments before an officer discharged their agency issued firearm.  This investigation is on-going and active at this time, any further information will be released by the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office.                   Click Here To Download Our App

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A Washington State man was sentenced to federal prison today for distributing fentanyl and aiding and abetting the armed robbery of a 14-year-old. Levi Joseph Blomdahl, 38, of Vancouver, Washington, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, in 2021, as a part of an ongoing investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) into Portland area fentanyl trafficking, Blomdahl was identified as a Pacific Northwest fentanyl dealer. In September 2021, Blomdahl was the victim of a drug-related robbery and shooting on Hayden Island in Portland during which he exchanged gunfire with the robber and sustained gunshot wounds. The robber, Anthony Pastorino, 44, also of Vancouver, fled the scene before police arrived and Blomdahl was taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment. Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— After a three-week trial, a Multnomah County judge found Robert Plympton guilty of the murder of Barbara Tucker, bringing to a close a 44-year investigation. The case began in January 1980, when Barbra Tucker’s body was found in a wooded area near Mt. Hood Community College. Several witnesses reported seeing a young woman waving at traffic on NE Kane Dr., before a man emerged from some nearby bushes and led her back towards campus. Investigators determined Ms. Tucker had been sexually assaulted and beaten to death.  In 2000, the Oregon State Police Crime Lab was able to develop a DNA profile from swabs collected during Ms. Tucker’s autopsy. The DNA profile was compared to DNA databases available at the time,  but the search did not produce any matches.  The case remained open and was assigned to several detectives over the decades, before being assigned to Detective Aaron Turnage in 2015. Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on March 20, 2024, at 10:58 p.m., the Linn County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a male shot in the 300 block of NW Alder Street in Mill City. Deputies responded and found Brian Rendon, 52, of Mill City, deceased on scene.  Preliminary information has revealed Benjamin Harris, 50, of Mill City, shot Rendon while at Harris’s home.  Harris and Rendon knew each other and had been roommates at the location. Harris has been lodged at the Linn County Jail on charges of Murder II. Detectives are continuing to conduct interviews, gather evidence and investigate the homicide. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team initiated a rescue operation following reports of a missing family of hikers in the Mt. Hood National Forest. At approximately 7:30 p.m., a member of the party contacted dispatch using the Emergency SOS feature on an Apple iPhone. This feature sends text messages and other vital information via satellite, such as detailed location information, to emergency dispatchers. Search and Rescue personnel deployed all-terrain resources to locate the family who had started their trip on the Salmon River Trailhead, but due to conditions, they were unable to reach the family comprised of four adults (ages 19, 32, 47, and 52) and two juveniles (ages 9 and 11). Ground crews were deployed and were able to reach the family around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. The family was cold, wet and dehydrated, but otherwise OK. Sweet Home Fire Dist. Sweet Home Fire District and the Oregon Department of Forestry respond to a large brush fire. Both Sweet Home Fire District and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a large brush fire just outside of Sweet Home. The fire was reported around 3:20 Wednesday March 20th. Sweet Home Fire and ODF responded to the Wiley Creek area with initial reports indicating there was a large fire on the Wiley Creek 240 road, at approximately the 8-mile marker. When the first responding units arrived, there was approximately 5 acres on fire burning in logging slash. The fire was located on a south aspect and on steep terrain. Sweet Home Fire District and ODF were in unified command and were working with local industry partners. There are no structures threatened. Washington Co. Sheriff's Office The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested a student from Aloha High School for his involvement in drug distribution and illegal possession of firearms. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office were assisted by the Westside Interagency Narcotics Team and detectives from the investigation division. Investigators had information that the student had been posting photos on various social media platforms showing themselves with large amounts of cash, illegal narcotics, and firearms. On March 12, 2024, investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1200 block of SW 163rd Ave. The student was the driver of the vehicle. Upon stopping, the student fled on foot from the traffic stop.  Despite the student's attempts to escape, investigators were able to locate and apprehend them quickly.
