Road Rage Incident Leads To Arrest After Driver Brandishes Handgun

Lincoln City Police On Tuesday April 9, 2024, Lincoln City Police arrested 61 year old Gregory Valdivieso after he brandished a gun during a road rage incident. At around 2:46 PM, Lincoln City Police Officers responded to a report of a driver who brandished a handgun at another driver while they were traveling through Lincoln City. The victims reported that the suspect initially pointed his fingers at them in the shape of gun as he passed them outside the south end of town. Once in the city, the victims began passing the suspect driver and as they did he brandished a handgun so they could see it. The victims advised they had recorded this on their cell phone.   Lincoln City Police Officers located the suspect vehicle at the south Circle K Store parking lot. The driver was contacted and identified as Gregory Valdivieso of Toledo, Oregon. Valdivieso initially denied having or brandishing a gun during the incident, but after being confronted that there was video evidence of the incident,

15-YEAR-OLD ASSAULT SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— The person who hit a man on the head with a skateboard in Gresham on Sunday evening has turned himself in to police.  Patrol officers responded to a report that a person had been assaulted in the area of NE Second St. and NE Roberts Ave., on Sunday. Yesterday, investigators released a photo of the suspect, asking for the public’s help with identifying him. At approximately 6:30 p.m. last night, a 15-year-old came to the Gresham Police Department, with his parents, to turn himself in. He was lodged at the Donald E. Long home on suspicion of Assault in the Second Degree. Detectives are still looking to identify and speak with others involved. FATAL CRASH - HWY 260 - JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, April 8, 2024, at 6:05 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 260, near milepost 20, in Josephine County. The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Dodge Ram 2500, operated by David Scott Anderson (39) of Wilderville, left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck trees, and overturned.  The operator of the Dodge (Anderson) and passenger, Shelby Mckenzie Spliethof (28) of Wilderville, were both declared deceased at the scene. MAN CONVICTED IN CRESWELL ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On the evening of April 25 th , 2022, a Lane County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to the Creswell contract responded to a dispute in the 700 block of N. Mill Street in Creswell. A witness contacted the deputy in the driveway and they rushed into the house. The deputy observed a male covered by a tarp with a cord tied tightly around his neck.  There was also severe trauma to both sides of the male’s head.  The deputy quickly cut the cord from around the victim’s neck and called for an ambulance.   Detectives responded to investigate.  They determined Steven Daniel Wages, 59, was responsible for the injuries to the victim.  Wages was located the next day almost 4 hours away in Brookings.  He was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit by Brookings Police officers.   On 01/25/2024, Wages was found guilty on two counts of Assault in the First Degree and one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.  On 03/25/2024, Wages was sentenced to 230 months in the Oreg

FATAL CRASH -- INTERSTATE 5 -- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, April 6, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-5 southbound near milepost 125 in Douglas County.  The preliminary investigation indicated that a blue Chevrolet S-10 was traveling southbound when an object flew out of the back of the truck bed. The driver, Evan Nile Cookman (70) of Winston, pulled onto the right shoulder and exited the vehicle. While attempting to retrieve the object from the interstate, he fell into the left lane of traffic. A black Ford F-550 traveling in the left lane attempted to avoid the subject (Cookman); however, was unable to avoid a collision and struck Cookman.  Cookman was pronounced deceased at the scene.  OSP was assisted by the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.                   Click Here To Download Our App

FATAL CRASH -- HWY. 38 -- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, April 6, 2024, at approximately 5:26 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 38 near milepost 30.5 in Douglas County.  The preliminary investigation indicated that a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound when the operator lost control while negotiating a curve. The motorcycle struck the guardrail before coming to an uncontrolled rest in the westbound lane of travel. Multiple motorists stopped and rendered first aid prior to the arrival of emergency services.  The motorcycle operator, Christopher Rein Schuerger (40) of Springfield, was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving measures by a responding trooper and good Samaritans.  Speed and wet roadway conditions contributed to the crash.  OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, North Douglas Ambulance, Elkton Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO SHOOTING NEAR LASSEN LANE

Sheriff's Office On April 6 th  at about 3:30 a.m., deputies and a Junction City Police officer responded to the area of Lassen Lane and River Road for a report of a gunshot wound.  One person was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The suspects fled immediately after the shooting, which appeared to be a targeted attack by individuals known to each other, and are still outstanding.   Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150, option 1.                    Click Here To Download Our App

FATAL RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - 737 W. WHARTON STREET

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 7:53 p.m. on April 5, 2024, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a residential structure fire with a known rescue at 737 W. Wharton Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-family residential structure with heavy fire and smoke coming from the left, front corner of the home with smoke alarms sounding. Upon arrival, a female resident informed fire crews that her husband was still inside the structure near the front of the home. Fire crews entered the single-family residence in rescue mode. Crews were able to quickly locate the seventy-one year old male resident near the front of the home and found him to be unconscious.  Crews quickly removed the victim through the front door of the home.  The patient was transported to a nearby hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Crews extinguished the fire and completed overhaul of the structure.  The single-family residence sustained structural, smoke, and

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEIZURE OF FENTANYL AND METH - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police A recent traffic stop on Interstate 5 near Roseburg led to the seizure of large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl headed for the streets of Portland.    On April 1, 2024, just after 9 a.m. an Oregon State Trooper stopped a black Chevrolet sedan near milepost 149 on I-5 north for a traffic violation. The trooper suspected criminal activity and received consent to search the vehicle.    During the search, the trooper located 62 pounds of methamphetamine and 22,000 suspected fentanyl laced pills inside the vehicle. The suspect acknowledged the illegal substances were headed to Portland.    Due to the large quantify of substances seized, the suspect, Oliver Raul Alvarez Beltran (21) of Phoenix (AZ), was arrested and federally charged with attempted delivery of a controlled substance.    The investigation is on-going and no additional information is available for release at this time.                                     Click Here To Download Our App

WINSTON WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ANIMAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office Winston woman has been arrested on charges of animal abuse and neglect. Douglas County Sheriff's Office Animal Control deputies began an investigation early this week after receiving a tip of a horse that was reported to be mistreated at a property in the 600-block of Longhorn Lane. During the investigation, deputies learned the horse and property owner had no connection. Deputies discovered a 3-year-old mixed breed horse, named Ace, who was found to be severely malnourished and in neglectful conditions. Ace's owner, 24-year-old Morgan Faith Fowler of Winston, surrendered the horse to deputies on Wednesday who took it to a veterinary hospital for examination and later to Strawberry Mountain Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. Overnight, Ace's condition declined to the point that euthanasia was necessary for humane care. Kelly Estella O’Brien was last seen at the Super 8 Motel in Redmond on April 4 th , 2024, at approximately 3:40 pm. O’Brien was last seen wearing a green jacket and tan ball cap. O’Brien is believed to driving her 2014 Toyota Rav 4 SUV, bearing Oregon license plate 969 KXT. FATAL CRASH - INTERSTATE 5 - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 3:00 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 5, near milepost 99, in Douglas County. The preliminary investigation indicated a pedestrian, Sally Kaye Bidlake (82) of Canyonville, was kneeling in the slow lane when she was struck by a northbound Toyota Sienna, operated by Miguel Santos (54) of San Mateo (CA).  The pedestrian (Bidlake) was declared deceased at the scene. The operator (Santos) and passengers in the Toyota were not injured. The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
