Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office - 09/24/18

ROGUE RIVER, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies have released the name of the man who died in a motorcycle crash over the weekend.  Deputies say Adam Christopher Haupt, 23, of the 700-block of Covered Bridge Road, died when his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the roadway in a curve and crashed into a concrete block wall.

On Friday, September 21, 2018, at 10:56 p.m., JCSO deputies responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the 3500-block of East Evans Creek Road.  Passersby stopped to render aid shortly after the crash and called 911.

Haupt was found to be beyond help due to extensive injuries to his head and body.  The force of the crash had caused Haupt's helmet to come off.

Personnel from the Rogue River Police Department and Rogue River Fire District #1 assisted at the scene.  The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while deputies investigated the crash.

Deputies are unsure whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.  A routine toxicology screen will be conducted as part of the medical examiner investigation.  Results are typically available in several weeks.

Haupt’s next-of-kin in Pennsylvania was notified of his death.
