Child Dies in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Gresham, Ore.— On Jan. 6th around 8:30 a.m., Gresham police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car on SE Hogan Rd. and SE 5th St.  The pedestrian was deceased at the scene.  The pedestrian is an 11-year-old male who was on his way to school.

Next of kin have been notified and at this time the juvenile’s name will not be released.  The driver is identified as 26-year-old Garrett Bergquist of Gresham.  He cooperated with the investigation.  The investigation showed the pedestrian had the right of way and the driver ran the red light.  There was indication of impairment and the driver has been arrested.
