SEARCH FOR MISSING BOATER RESUMES

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has identified the missing male from Fern Ridge Reservoir as 38 year old Kevin Carlile of Junction City.  Carlile was boating recreationally with his wife and two children at the time of the incident.  Conditions included high winds and very rough water.

Family reported that at least one of the children ended up in the water without a life jacket.  Carlile and his wife jumped in the water to assist.  Due to the heavy winds and rough water, the family was having difficulty making it back to the boat.  Carlile’s wife and the children were eventually able to make it to the nearby shore.

Carlile was last seen about 150 yards away from the shore near the dam along the north side of the reservoir.  He is not believed to have been wearing a life jacket at the time.  Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue personnel, which includes the Sheriff’s Dive Team, along with marine patrol deputies are continuing to actively search in what is now presumed to be a recovery operation.

More updates will be provided as they become available
