TWENTY GRADUATE THE FROM SEARCH AND RESCUE ACADEMY

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office

Yesterday, June 12th, 2021, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office graduated 15 search and rescue volunteers and five overhead deputies from the 2021 Search and Rescue Academy.  Over 10 weeks, participants received over 75 hours of training including survival skills, wilderness first aid, communication, Incident Command System, map and compass, and GPS.  Attendees participated in training on evenings during the week, on weekends, and on overnight training exercises.

Marion County Search and Rescue volunteers are vital to the services the Marion County Sheriff’s Office provides to those that recreate in the outdoors and missing persons. We appreciate their service.

If you are interested in volunteering with Marion County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, applications will be accepted beginning in November 2021.  Our next Search and Rescue Academy is scheduled to begin in April 2022.
