GRESHAM POLICE ASKING FOR PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING SUSPECT IN MURDER OF 17-YEAR-OLD FROM AUGUST

Gresham, Ore.- On Aug. 24, 2021, Gresham Police responded to multiple “shots fired” calls in the area of NE 9th St. and NE Hood Ave. When officers arrived, they quickly located evidence of a shooting but did not find a victim.  A short time later, 911 callers reported a vehicle stopped near SE Division St. and SE 182nd Ave. and it appeared someone inside was injured. 17-year-old Seneca Xavier Alexander, of Portland, was located and found to be injured from multiple gunshot wounds.  He was immediately transported to the hospital, but pronounced dead soon after.  The medical examiner’s office determined Seneca died as a result of being shot and ruled the death a homicide.

Gresham Police detectives and members of the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team (MCT) working the investigation have identified 26-year-old Isaac Cortez Bynum Jr. as the suspect. Mr. Bynum currently has an arrest warrant for Murder in the Second Degree issued by the Multnomah County Circuit Court.
