DROWNING AT APPLEGATE LAKE

APPLEGATE LAKE, Ore- On 072122, at 2033 hours, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon-911 received a report of a possible drowning at Applegate Lake. Applegate Fire District #9 personnel and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and Marine units responded.

Deputies learned that a group of teenage males had been jumping into the lake off of the dam. When one jumped and entered the water he did not return to the surface. The others attempted to locate him in the water and contacted 911. Deputies searched the area and suspended the search after a few hours due to darkness. 

On 072222 at 0924 hours, deputies found the victim in the lake.

The victim is a 16 year-old male from Central Point, Oregon.
