JAIL OVERDOSE

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office

On July 21, 2022 at approximately 10:25 AM, an Adult In Custody (AIC) at the Josephine County Jail was found to exhibit signs of fentanyl ingestion and potential overdose.  Deputies and medical staff within the jail began immediate treatment at which time a second AIC was found to have symptoms consistent with fentanyl overdose.  Immediate care was also provided to the second AIC and both were transported to an area hospital.  Both AIC’s are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.

It has been determined that drugs were smuggled into the facility by an AIC who shared them with a second AIC.  Criminal charges will be sought for all parties involved with introduction of contraband into the jail and possession of controlled substances.

This incident remains under investigation and additional details are not available.
