WILLAMETTE RIVER DROWNING

CORVALLIS, Ore. – On September 2, 2022, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Marine Deputies located the deceased body of a male from the Willamette River near downtown Corvallis.

BCSO Detectives responded and during the course of the investigation were able to identify the remains to be those of 45-year-old Jeffrey Alan Pearce, of Corvallis.

Benton County Deputies worked with the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office and Pearce’s cause of death was determined to be from drowning. Pearce was not wearing a life jacket.

At this time, Deputies believe he had been in the river for several hours and do not believe the death was related to a criminal act.
