TYLER CHRISTOPHERSON PROMOTED TO FIRE CHIEF

Roseburg Fire Dept.

We are very excited and pleased to announce that Tyler Christopherson has been promoted to Fire Chief, effective November 1, 2022.  He will be replacing retired Chief Monte Bryan, who retired June 30, 2022.

Chief Christopherson was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon.  Shortly after graduating from Churchill High School, he began his career in the fire serve as a volunteer Firefighter for Santa Clara Fire District in the Eugene area.  In 1999, he began study at Chemeketa Community College and then graduated with an Associate’s degree in Fire Science in December of 2000.

In January of 2006, Chief Christopherson joined the City of Roseburg Fire Department as a Firefighter.  He has climbed the ladder since starting with the department and has served in all online rank positions including Firefighter, Driver/Engineer, Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, and most recently as Assistant Chief of Operations.   While working for the City of Roseburg Fire Department, Chief Christopherson obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University in the summer of 2019.

In his free time, Chief Christopherson enjoys traveling and spending time with his beautiful wife Autumn, three children, and two dogs.  His years of experience, calm demeanor, team attitude, and knowledge of the fire service will be appreciated in his new role as Fire Chief.  He brings to the organization a culture of safety and leadership that will be valuable as both the City of Roseburg and City of Roseburg Fire Department grow and transition in the future. Please join us in wishing Chief Christopherson great success in his well-deserved and newly appointed position as Fire Chief.

We would like to thank Chief Gary Garrisi, who graciously stepped out of retirement short-term to assist while the City of Roseburg conducted a search for the position of Fire Chief.
