OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING LEADS TO DEPUTY SHOT

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office

UPDATE -  Suspect has been located, there is no further danger to the public. Sheriff Pat Garrett will update media on the wounded deputies’ conditions at a news conference scheduled for 1:45pm at Legacy Emanuel.

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at approximately 9:34 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were serving a civil eviction at Forest Rim Apartments in Tualatin, Oregon.

At 10:21 a.m., deputies advised dispatch that they were attempting to detain a person when that person opened fired on the deputies. One deputy was struck by gunfire and was evacuated from the scene and transported to an area hospital where they are undergoing treatment. The deputy is listed in critical condition at this time. It is unknown if deputies returned fire.

Multiple partner agencies responded to the scene along with the Washington County Tactical Negotiation Team (TNT). This is an active scene, and we are asking people to stay out of the area.

Additional information will be released when available.
