Man Dies After Raft Flips in Rogue River

GOLD HILL, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and fire personnel responded to a call for a water rescue yesterday around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Ti’lomikh Falls on the Rogue River near Gold Hill. Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon ECSO 911 Dispatch received the call after a local guiding company raft flipped in the rapid and a 69-year-old man had a medical emergency. Bystanders started CPR until first responders from Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights Inc arrived and took over. A Jackson County Fire District #1 rescue boat transported the patient to an awaiting ambulance. The ambulance brought the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 4:50 p.m. Our condolences go out to his friends and family. Out of respect during this difficult time, we will not be releasing the name of the deceased. JCSO is conducting further investigations and there is no more information available for release at this time.
