PPB OFFICERS STOP STABBING ASSAULT IN PROGRESS, SUSPECT BOOKED ON CHARGES

A suspect in a stabbing involving two victims in the Mill Park Neighborhood is facing felony assault and other charges after a domestic violence investigation.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 12:10a.m., a 911 call taker from the Bureau of Emergency Communication received a call from an apartment in the 1900 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue where sounds of a disturbance were heard. A minute later another caller indicated that someone had been stabbed and the suspect was still there. Numerous officers were dispatched and began arriving within 5 minutes. The officers approached the apartment and could hear the disturbance still underway and through the open front door could see the suspect standing over a victim. The officers challenged the suspect, who immediately turned his attention away from the victim and toward the police. He rushed the sergeant and punched him in neck area before officers could get the suspect under control and in handcuffs.
The two stabbing victims, a 42-year-old pregnant female and a 44-year-old male, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. They were stabilized and are expected to survive. The police sergeant did not suffer any serious injuries.
The case involved a domestic relationship between the suspect and the female victim. The Portland Police Special Victims Unit responded to investigate the assault. They recovered a knife as evidence (photo). They also recovered brass knuckles believed to have also been used in the assault on the female and the police sergeant.
Detectives booked Justin G. Barrera-Guild, 21, in the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Domestic Violence Assault in the First Degree, Domestic Violence Assault in the Second Degree, Domestic Violence Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Assault on a Public Safety Officer.
