Fatal Motorcycle Crash OR-74 Morrow County

Oregon State Police  - 06/26/18  On Sunday, June 24, 2018 at about 2:18PM, Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on OR-74 at milepost 22. The preliminary investigation revealed that a purple, 2005 Harley Davidson, FXD motorcycle, operated by Gordon Wayne Smith, age 68, of Boardman was traveling east bound on OR-74 failed to negotiate a curve in the Hwy and veered off of the road.  Mr. Smith suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. OR-74 was closed for approximately 3 hours following the crash.  OSP was assisted by the Morrow County Sheriff's Office, Ione Ambulance, Heppner Ambulance and ODOT.

Oregon State Police  - 06/26/18  Update on passenger Karen Mae Andrehsen, age 62, from Warren, has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash that occured on June 10, 2018. On Sunday, June 10, 2018 at about 3:20pm, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a two vehicle, head on crash on Highway 6 near milepost 24. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 1996 Saturn SL, operated by George MADSEN IV, age 33, from Tillamook, was traveling westbound on SR Highway 6.  A silver 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van, operated by Debra Ann FRAPPIER, age 60, from Scappoose, was eastbound.  Other occupants of the Chrysler van included, Geraldine Mae MURPHY, age 84, from Warren, Kathy Marie THOMAS, age 56, from Columbia City, and Karen Mae ANDREHSEN, age 62, from Warren.  The Saturn entered the oncoming lane for an unknown reason and struck the Chrysler van head on.  The Saturn came to rest in the eastbound lane against the guardrail, facin

UPDATE-Deputies Investigating Suspicious Death (Lyons)

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/25/18 Detectives have identified the man found dead Saturday as Jonathan Liesch, 27, of Lyons. Mr. Liesch was found in a pond on property he was living on in the 20000 block of Fern Ridge Road SE. Detectives are still investigating the man's death. The Sheriff's Office is looking to speak with anyone who may have spoken with or seen Mr. Liesch over the last weekend. There are currently no additional details available at this time. Today at 2:20 p.m., deputies were called to the 20000 block of Fern Ridge Road SE near Lyons after a man was found dead in a pond near his residence.  Detectives have been called to the scene to investigate as the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are suspicious.  It is very early in this investigation and no additional information will be made available until an autopsy can be performed, that time frame is not yet known.

RPD Arrest Fleeing Suspect With Help From Downtown Businesses

Redmond Police Dept.  - 06/25/18  Redmond, OR – Today, June 25, 2018, at approximately 11:24 AM Redmond Police Officers were called to Satterlee Jewelry, at 513 NW Fir Ave, after employees discovered an unknown male in a restricted area of the store.  The male left with two other people when confronted by staff. Redmond Officers located the group of three in the area W Antler Ave and NW 5th Street.  When an Officer attempted to initiate contact, one of the males fled on a bicycle.  Officers gave chase, and with significant help from three different downtown business employees, the suspect was caught and arrested in the alley-way behind Kobold Brewing, and Westside Taco Company. Other Officers also gave chase to the two other people who also ran.  They were eventually contacted as well.  A downtown business employee alerted Officers that the suspects attempted to hide property from a backpack in some landscaping nearby.  That property has recovered and is currently in our p
