Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/25/18  GOLD HILL, Ore. – A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy responding to a report of noise at the Gold Hill Little League fields Saturday night caught a suspect in the act of burglarizing the concessions stand.  On June 23, 2018, at 9:37 p.m., a neighbor called to report a banging sound coming from the concessions stand area. Chase Alan Martin, 18, was inside the building when the deputy arrived.  Deputies found that Martin had caused extensive damage to the concessions stand and another small building.  The air conditioning until had been removed to gain entrance and the inside of the concessions stand was ransacked.  Damages total at least $2000.  Martin was apparently under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.  Martin was initially uncooperative with deputies, but they were able to take him into custody.  The incident occurred two days after Martin’s 18th birthday, however he was lodged at the juvenile detention center in Medford

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/25/18  GOLD HILL – A motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 58-year-old man in Gold Hill on Saturday night.  No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.  On June 23, 2018, at 9:08 p.m., bystanders called 911 to report a crash involving a single motorcycle.  Callers reported the motorcycle operator was injured and unresponsive.  The motorcycle operator, later identified as Gary Patrick Hansen, of the 85000-block of Lorane Highway, was pronounced dead at the scene by Rogue River Fire District medics.  Hansen also reportedly had ties to the Jackson County area. Witnesses told deputies they saw the motorcycle, a red 2017 Harley Davidson FLH, headed north on Second Avenue.  For an unknown reason, the motorcycle veered off the pavement and hit the gravel shoulder.  Deputies say the motorcycle and rider crashed in the gravel and came to rest approximately 50 yards from where they left the roadway.  Hansen was wearing a helmet, but it ca

Newport Police Dept.  - 06/25/18  On 06/21/18, at approximately 1:46 p.m., in the area of Sam Case School, a Newport Police K9 Officer witnessed Douglas Graham operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The Officer conducted a traffic stop for the violation and identified the passenger in the vehicle as Athena Watkins, both are residents of the Newport area. The K9 officer discovered that Newport Police Department had been receiving information over several months, that Graham was actively involved in the sale of illegal narcotics. The K9 officer then deployed NPD’s Narcotic Detection K9, Nero, on Graham’s vehicle.  Nero positively alerted to the presence of an illegal narcotics odor coming from Graham’s vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle produced a large amount of Methamphetamine, packaging materials, digital weigh scales, various paraphernalia items and a sum of U.S. currency. Salem Police Dept.  - 06/24/18  On Sunday, June 24, 2018 at approximately 9:13 pm, Salem Police officers were called to the Walmart at 3025 Lancaster Drive NE on the report of a shooting. Officers learned that one male adult had been shot and seriously injured. The victim was transported to Salem Health by a witness prior to first responders arriving on scene. At this time no suspects are in in custody. Detectives have been called in and are responding to the scene to take over the investigation. No further information will be available until detectives have had more time to investigate the incident.   

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/24/18  On Sunday morning Marine Patrol Deputies were dispatched to an abandoned boat in the Willamette River near the Sportcraft Landing in Oregon City. Deputies arrived to find a sinking 1988 Bayliner covered in a silver tarp. The rear transom of the boat was cut our below the water line and the engine was removed. The boat was filled with household trash and construction debris. Someone had attempted to grind off all of the identifying numbers on the boat. They removed the boat from the water and are asking for any witnesses who might have seen someone launching this boat to call the tip line. Witnesses reported the boat may have been launched at the Sportcraft Landing boat launch Saturday afternoon. Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/24/18 Based on video surveillance recovered from the area around the time of this crash, the Deschutes County County Sheriff’s Office is releasing three images this afternoon of a vehicle of interest in this crash.   The vehicle was observed on video surveillance in the area and matches the description of the suspect vehicle as described by a witness.    Anyone with information as urged to call Deschutes County non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911.    Updated by: Sgt. Oregon State Fire Marshal  - 06/24/18  As fire suppression tactics have increased containment and lowered the risk to structures, the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s resources will be released around noon today.  The Oregon Department of Forestry team will remain with local resources to continue mopping up and monitoring any remaining hot spots.  Resources on the fire today are: 7 Hand crews, 6 Helicopters, 33 Engines, 1 Dozer, 8 Water tenders and 395 personnel.  The estimated containment is 60% and 2,143 acres.   Today’s warmer temperatures and lower relative humidity may cause the fire to show more activity.  Fire fighters are seeing juniper trees torch in the interior of fire.  Air attack resources are available today to drop water on those trees if needed. Sheriff's Office  - 06/24/18 On June 23, 2018, at approximately, 1030 hours, deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office responded to area of Skyline Ranch Road and Macapline Road for a report of a Hit and Run, vehicle versus bicyclist. .  Information gathered from witnesses on scene found a blue mid-sized pick-up truck with a white canopy had stuck a bicyclist and fled the scene.  The make and model of the vehicle is unknown but reported to be similar in size to a Dodge Dakota.  There were no other physical observations made in relation to the vehicle. The suspect vehicle was last seen northbound on Skyline Ranch Road towards Skyliners Road.  The vehicle was reportedly occupied by two subjects, with the passenger having long hair.  No other description was obtained on the subjects involved. Oregon State Police  - 06/24/18  On Friday, June 22, 2018 at about 7:45 am, an Oregon State Police Trooper and emergency personnel responded to a report of a traffic crash on US Highway 101 near milepost 76.5, north of Beaver. Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2003 Saab, operated by Mikayla Michelle HOWARD, age 18, of Beaver, was traveling northbound when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane of travel for an unknown reason.  The vehicle struck a southbound red 2018 Kenworth log truck with a bunked trailer head on.  The Kenworth Tractor was driven by Howard Edwin RHOADES, are 64, from Toledo. HOWARD was transported by ambulance to Tillamook Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.  She was later transported by Life Flight helicopter to Oregon Health Sciences University for further treatment.  HOWARD died from injuries sustained during the crash.  RHOADES was not injured as a result of the crash.  US Highway 101 was closed for approximately two h

 COOS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY R. Paul Frasier June 23, 2018 At approximately 6:44 AM this morning there was an officer involved shooting near the residence located at 475 Johnson Avenue, Coos Bay, Oregon. It appears at this time that the police were attempting to arrest an individual named Eric Sweet for Felony Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. It is my information that police attempted to stop Mr. Sweet on two occasions sometime between 6:00 AM and 6:44 AM this morning. Both pursuits were discounted for safety reasons. Mr. Sweet apparently drove from the last pursuit to his home at 475 Johnson. Officers went to his home to see if that was where he had gone. The first officer at the residence found the vehicle parked several feet from the curb and with the driver’s door open. Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/23/18 The Deschutes County Sheriff's office is currently seeking information about a canoe located just after 1:15 pm this afternoon submerged in the Deschutes River above Pringle Falls, west of La Pine.  The green canoe was found pinned up against a log with gear still inside, including one lifejacket, packed lunches and an electric motor that was still running. Deputies, U. S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, Bend Police Department (drone and pilot), La Pine Fire, and Deschutes County Search and Rescue personnel spent the afternoon searching the Deschutes River from the Wickiup Reservoir Dam down to La Pine State Park for anyone who may be associated with the canoe.  Drones were also used to search the river and river bank, however search efforts have offered no additional information.   We are still working to determine if the canoe was occupied when it became submerged.  We currently do not have anyone reported missing or unaccounte

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/23/18  Today at 2:20 p.m., deputies were called to the 20000 block of Fern Ridge Road SE near Lyons after a man was found dead in a pond near his residence.  Detectives have been called to the scene to investigate as the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are suspicious.  It is very early in this investigation and no additional information will be made available until an autopsy can be performed, that time frame is not yet known.   The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been in the area and saw anything suspicious to please call our tip line at 503 540 8079. 

COOS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY June 23, 2018 At approximately 1:33 AM this morning Coquille Valley Hospital reported to Coquille Police Department that a male individual subsequently identified as 51 year old Coquille resident Michael Lucas had presented himself to the hospital with stab wounds and significant blunt force trauma injuries to the face. Coquille Police responded to the hospital. Subsequent investigation revealed that the incident occurred at a residence on South East Third Avenue in the City of Coquille. Officers responded to that residence, but the house was secured and no one answered the door. Officers then applied for and obtained a search warrant for the residence. The search warrant was granted by the Court and officers entered the residence at approximately 8:30 AM. When they entered the house they found a deceased male adult. The body has not been identified at this point. The cause of death has not been determined but it appears that the person has died from

Oregon Dept. of Forestry  - 06/23/18  Prineville, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Forestry Type 1 Team and Oregon State Fire Marshal Green Team took unified command of the fire on Friday at 6 p.m. Fire crews have made good progress battling the Graham Fire. The fire is estimated at approximately 2,055 acres and is burning in brush, timber and grass south of the Metolius River arm of Lake Billy Chinook near Culver, Oregon. Fire crews completed a burnout operation yesterday and will began mop up operations on Saturday. Today’s firefighting resources include: 7 hand crews, 26 Engines, 2 dozers, 4 water tenders, approximately 375 personnel and containment is estimated at 50%. Aircraft resources assigned to this fire are available to all fires in the area as needed.  Crews have set up fire camp at the Sisters Rodeo Grounds. Please use caution on Highway 20 near the rodeo grounds due to the additional fire traffic in the area. The fire burned two residential structures and five out buil
