DEPUTIES ASK FOR THE PUBLIC'S HELP LOCATING A MISSING AND ENDANGERED MAN

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies serving the city of Cornelius learned 76-year-old Ralph Brown was missing. Mr. Brown was last seen leaving his home near the 600 block S 12th Avenue in the City of Cornelius shortly before deputies were called. Family told deputies Mr. Brown left in his 2014 Blue Nissan Sentra (Oregon Plate: 319KQV). Mr. Brown is approximately 5'10", 210 lbs., has gray hair with blue eyes, and is missing the tip of his right-hand index finger. Mr. Brown's family says he has memory issues and may struggle to find his way home. If you know of Mr. Brown's whereabouts, please call non-emergency dispatch at (503) 629-0111.

ADULT IN CUSTODY WALKS AWAY FROM TRANSITION CENTER

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office Deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating an Adult in Custody (AIC) who walked away from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Transition Center. Jonathan Alan Goolsby, 22, walked away from the facility around 4:59 p.m., on Friday May 14, 2021. Goolsby was in custody for a Parole Violation; his scheduled release date was May, 21, 2021. Goolsby is a white adult male with hazel eyes and brown hair. He is 5’11” tall and weighs 170 lbs. The Marion County Transition Center prepares AICs for re-entry into the community prior to release from custody. AICs are allowed to leave the facility for pre-approved treatment or medical appointments.   Deputies are asking anyone with information about Goolsby to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 503-588-5032.

FATAL CRASH ON INTERSTATE 5 - LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police UPDATE The operator of the Honda Civic - Bradley Letsom (33) of Eugene. On Sunday, May 16, 2021 at approximately 10:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 208. Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Civic was the subject of several complaints for poor driving northbound on I-5.  As troopers were still responding to the area the Civic turned around and proceeded southbound in the northbound lanes.  The Civic collided with a northbound semi-truck operated by Surjit Singh (38) of Live Oak, CA. The operator of the Civic sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  The name will be released when appropriate. Singh was not injured in the crash. OSP was assisted by Linn County Sheriff's Office, Harrisburg Fire Department, and ODOT.

SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING ROSEBURG MAN NEAR TWIN LAKES

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office IDLEYLD PARK, Ore.  - The search efforts for Harry Burleigh who was reported missing on Friday, May 7, 2021, are continuing today.  69 year-old Burleigh failed to return from a fishing trip and was reported as missing by his wife. On Saturday, May 8, 2021, a deputy located Burleigh's vehicle at the Twin Lakes Trailhead. Burleigh had filled out a form and left it at the trailhead indicating he was entering the Twin Lakes area on Thursday, May 6, 2021 and intended to be out that evening.  Searchers have been scouring the area for any signs of Burleigh and had come up empty handed until yesterday, Sunday May 16, 2021. Searchers located a makeshift shelter and a tackle box belonging to Burleigh in the Calf Creek area; however the man is still missing.  The efforts continue today in hopes of finding additional clues. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has been utilizing search teams and resources from multiple counties as well as partner agencies. 

INVESTIGATION ONGOING [TOXIC EXPOSURE SICKENS 26 PATIENTS]

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue At approximately 9:15 am this morning, a caller to 911 reported a strong smell inside Shari’s Restaurant located at 2185 NW 185th Avenue in Hillsboro. Rapid onset of symptoms was reported including coughing, burning sensation, and dizziness. It was initially reported that 25 people were inside the restaurant when people started experiencing symptoms.  Given the number of patients, the incident commander upgraded to a second alarm medical incident. All persons inside the restaurant were able to evacuate safely. There were no reports of smoke, flames, or active fire. First arriving crews entered the building in protective gear with gas monitoring equipment to assess the exposure level and try to determine its source. Other firefighters accessed the roof of the restaurant to assess the HVAC equipment as a potential source. Those initial investigations were inconclusive. It was confirmed to be contained inside the restaurant so there was no risk of outside exposur

DRIVER ARRESTED IN FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— On May 13, 2021, Gresham Police arrested 20-year-old Cameron A. King for Criminally Negligent Homicide and 2 counts of Assault IV. He was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.   On March 6th, 2021 around 5:50 p.m. Gresham police officers responded to a report of pedestrians hit by a car on NW Eastman Pkwy and NW 3rd St.  When police arrived, they found 9-year-old Baylei Bissonette deceased at the scene and two other pedestrians were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  King stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.        No further information is available at this time.

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING INVESTIGATION - MARION COUNTY

Oregon State Police Yesterday’s officer involved shooting incident began at approximately 4:45 P.M., when Gervais Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Depot Ct. in Gervais.  Upon arrival they located Arik Reed (22) of Gervais with a gunshot wound.  Reed was transported to Salem Hospital.  Officers were able to determine that Kenneth Peden III had kidnapped a 17 year old female after the shooting and left the area in a Ford F-150.  An attempt to locate was broadcast to all Marion County law enforcement and, shortly afterward,  a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy located the pickup occupied by Peden and the female kidnap victim.  Peden fled from law enforcement when they attempted to stop his vehicle.  The pursuit continued to Hwy 214 at about mile post 37, where the officer involved shooting event reported yesterday occurred. SKELETAL REMAINS FOUND IN UNINCORPORATED CLACKAMAS COUNTY; TIPS SOUGHT

Sheriff's Office Please reference CCSO Case # 21-009188 Clackamas County Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking  tips  after the location of skeletal human remains on May 4 near SE Causey Avenue and SE Fuller Road in unincorporated Clackamas County. Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, deputies responded to  Clackamas Fire District #1 's Fuller Road Station in Happy Valley. A person had gone there to report finding a partial human skull nearby. Firefighters called the Sheriff's Office to assist. Detectives  soon responded to the scene. The person led them to the location of the remains -- a wetland area near SE Causey Avenue and SE Fuller Road. Responding detectives found additional skeletal remains in the area and secured the scene, contacting the Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner and  CSI  forensic experts to assist in the recovery and examination of the remains. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon Kingpin Act Sanctions Oregon Defendant and his Construction Business PORTLAND, Ore.—Acting U.S. Attorney Scott Erik Asphaug announced the unsealing of an indictment today against a Sinaloa-based drug trafficker for his role in trafficking fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine from Mexico to the Pacific Northwest. Efrain Mendivil Figueroa, 41, of Sinaloa, Mexico, has been charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The announcement of charges against Figueroa follows the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)  designation  of Figueroa as a Specially Designated Narcotics Trafficker pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (Kingpin Act). Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) In the evening hours of Tuesday, May 11th, 2021, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2300 block of Cannon Avenue, in Roseburg (Green District).  This residence is alarmingly close to the entrance of Sunnyslope Elementary School.     DINT and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office have received multiple complaints in recent months about the obvious drug activity taking place at the residence.  Due to those complaints, as well as the proximity to the school, DINT conducted a targeted investigation and developed information indicating both methamphetamine and heroin trafficking taking place at the residence.   A search of the residence revealed more than a quarter pound of methamphetamine, approximately 18 grams of black tar heroin, a small amount of suspected fentanyl, a large amount of cash, a firearm, and a substantial amount of evidence of distribution.     42 year old

Medford Police Thirteen year old Kail Schmalz has not been seen or heard from since May 4, 2021.  He was last known to be at a residence on Dead Indian Memorial Rd.  It is believed that Kail is in the Ashland area with his 16 year old girlfriend.  Kail is described as being 6’00”, 160 lbs with blond/brown hair and blue eyes.  He was last seen wearing a green/black psychedelic sweatshirt, white sweatpants, and black high-top shoes.  A missing person report was filed today by his family.  Please call 541-776-7206 with any information.

QUICK THINKING NEIGHBORS SLOW SPRINGFIELD HOUSE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported house fire in the 1800 block of F St. in Springfield Monday afternoon.  Neighbors saw the fast moving fire and grabbed a garden hose to slow the spread of the fire prior to the first arriving fire crews.  On arrival, crews found a partially extinguished fire in an attached out building that had also extended to the exterior and eves of the home.  Given the wind conditions and fire spread, had the neighbors not acted quickly, the fire could have been much worse. Crews finished extinguishing the fire and any hot spots. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause.  

EUGENE SPRINGFIELD FIRE CREWS BATTLE TRAIN TRESTLE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR. Eugene Springfield Fire crews are currently working to extinguish a large fire involving the Union Pacific Rail Road trestle at South 2nd Street in Springfield.  The fire was threatening Hexion Chemical and crews were able to stop the spread of fire toward the plant.  Rail traffic is stopped and the cause of the fire is under investigation.  

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

  Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, May 9, 2021 at approximately 12:01 AM Deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported shooting incident in the 1300 block of Rockydale road in Cave Junction, OR.  Information reported to Deputies was that a person had been shot at a concert.  Upon arrival, a deceased person was located at the concert.  Detectives from the Oregon State Police responded to the Sheriff’s Office request for investigative assistance with this incident.  The above listed subject was arrested by Oregon State Police for the charges of 1st Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  The name of the victim will not be released at this time.  Oregon State Police personnel along with Sheriff’s Office personnel continue to investigate this incident.  ARRESTED:  Trenton Cole Kepple, 27 year-old-male  No other details are available at this time.
