Amanda Wydur was arrested yesterday in Tualatin, OR and is currently in custody at the Douglas County Jail where she has been charged with Theft in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree. UPDATE 07/22/21 11:30 AM The Roseburg Police Department is seeking the publics’ assistance with locating 29-year-old  Amanda Wydur,  as investigation has established her as the suspect in this case.    Amanda is known to wear wigs and attempt to change and/or disguise her appearance. Joint Task Force Sweep Arrests Six Local Suspects for 61 Felony Counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse, Investigations Uncover Nearly 7000 Explicit Images

Jackson County Sheriff's Office Rogue Valley, Ore. – The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) joint inter-agency task force arrested six separate suspects Thursday on 61 Encouraging Child Sex Abuse felony charges. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and the US Marshals’ Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) along with Central Point Police Department (CPPD), and Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) assisted with the operation that included warrants served throughout Jackson and Josephine County. Although the cases are not connected, in total investigations uncovered nearly 7000 images of child exploitation among the six suspects. Felony charges include 44 first-degree, and 17 second-degree Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse. Out of those arrested, one-third had local child victims. Investigations led the task force throughout the Rogue Valley including addresses in Ashland, Central Point, Grants Pass, Medford, Talent, and White City. Th

Mystic Mountain Fire Update

Douglas Forest Protective Association Firefighters assigned to the Mystic Mountain Fire continue to make good progress toward full containment of the incident.  Overnight, crews completed the construction of fire trails and installed hose lays around the perimeter of the fire before shifting their efforts to mop-up operations.  Today, 70 firefighters are assigned to the fire and are working to extinguish the smoking and smoldering materials within the burned area.   Mapping of the Mystic Mountain Fire was also completed today using GPS coordinates which put the final fire size at 55 acres.  The increase in acreage is due to more accurate mapping rather than additional fire growth.   Tonight, two engine crews will be patrolling the Mystic Mountain Fire.  These crews will utilize handheld infrared cameras to help locate hot spots that are still smoldering inside the fire area.  Hot spots that are located will be flagged and mapped for day shift resources to work on. SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO RECOVERY OF STOLEN FIREARMS AND ARREST

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office CANYONVILLE, Ore.  - A Drain man was arrested and stolen firearms were recovered on Saturday following a theft investigation. On Saturday, September 4, 2021, deputies began the investigation after receiving a report of a theft from a rental vehicle parked at a local business in the 100-block of Chief Miwaleta Lane in Canyonville. The caller reported two firearms and several thousand dollars’ worth of firearm accessories had been stolen from the vehicle. Through their investigation, deputies discovered the theft occurred shortly before 1:30 am and developed a suspect identified as 24-year-old Charles Elroy Brabender of Drain. As the investigation continued, deputies served a search warrant at a property associated with Brabender in the 600-block of Irving Drive in Myrtle Creek. MYSTIC MOUNTAIN FIRE UPDATE #2

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore . - Fire crews made significant progress on the Mystic Mountain Fire this evening, allowing the Sheriff's Office to reduce or eliminate the previously issued evacuation notices.  All homes on Mystic Mountain Road have been reduced to a  Level 2 “BE SET”  evacuation advisory.    All homes on Little River Road starting at Mystic Mountain Road up to the Peel Store, including all homes located between these two points are  no longer under an evacuation advisory .  An interactive evacuation map can be found at  www.dcso.com/evacuations . Little River Road has been re-opened to traffic, although the public is asked to avoid the area due to emergency resources working in the area.  Residents are urged to monitor the situation through official sources and media outlets.  The Sheriff's Office received support and assistance from the Search and Rescue, Oregon State Police, Douglas County Public Works and the American Red Cross.

Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore . - Fire crews continue to fight the Mystic Mountain Fire on Little River Road near Glide that broke out around 4:00 pm on September 8, 2021.  The Sheriff's Office has issued the following evacuation notices: A Level 3 “GO!” evacuation notice has been issued for all homes on Mystic Mountain Road off of Little River.  A Level 3 “BE SET” evacuation advisory has been issued for all homes on Little River Road starting at Mystic Mountain Road up to the Peel Store. OSP FISH & WILDLIFE TROOPERS INVESTIGATED POACHING CASE AND CHARGED TWO SUSPECTS WITH THE CRIMES- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On August 30, 2021, OSP Fish & Wildlife Troopers from Roseburg began an investigation from information obtained from an area resident into the potential unlawful take of a trophy class bull elk in the Glendale in Douglas County.  By September 6, 2021, two suspects were identified, interviewed, and charged with the crimes.   The main suspect, Jeremy Pritchard (39) of Dillard, confessed to shooting the bull elk with a rifle on August 30, 2021, during the general archery season in the Powers Hunt Unit.   Additionally, the suspect used his general archery season Tioga Hunt Unit archery tag to tag the bull a day later after taking it with his rifle.  The suspect was cited and released for Hunting a Game Mammal Prohibited Method, Hunting Game Mammal Prohibited Area, Criminal Trespass while in Possession of a Firearm, Fail to Immediately Validate a Big Game Tag, and Unlawful Possession of a Game Mammal.  The suspect’s accomplice, Dean Hickok (62) of Glendale in Douglas

Shooting Investigation

Medford Police Tonight at 8:28 p.m. Medford Police officers and medical personnel were dispatched to a reported shooting in the parking lot of Fichtner Mainwaring Park, off of Holmes Avenue. Three victims were transported to the hospital, two with life threatening injuries.  The limited information we have is that the suspects arrived in a vehicle, shot the victims, and fled the scene in the vehicle. There is limited information on suspect description / vehicle  at this time. Please be patient as our detectives and officers investigate the incident. MAN REMOVED FROM SINK HOLE IN WEST EUGENE

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene Springfield Fire received a call at 1:40 pm on Tuesday for a man who fell into a sink hole.  The location of the call was near the area of Royal Avenue and Fischer Road, west of Eugene. Members of the department's Technical Rescue Team responded to find a 67 year-old man approximately 16 feet below surface level, partially submerged in water.  The hole was located near the foundation of his home.  It is unknown what caused the hole to appear and was not previously known to the victim.  Crews were able to quickly remove the man from the hole and determined that he did not have any injuries due to the fall.  The man was in the hole for 20-30 minutes prior to being able to being helped out.  The hole size remained stable throughout the rescue and did not pose any additional difficulties to rescuers.  Sink holes are not a common occurrence in the lower Willamette Valley.

MAN ARRESTED IN 25 YEAR OLD POLK COUNTY HOMICIDE CASE

Polk Co. Sheriff's Office On September 1, 1996, the skeletonized remains of an adult female were found in the hills overlooking the Mill Creek area in rural Polk County. Investigators determined the woman’s death was a homicide as the body was wrapped up in a tarp and bound with rope. Many efforts were made over the years to help identify the female. From doing sketches, CT scans, to 3D rendered images and even a real sculptures was made using the actual skull, to help put a face to the unidentified female. Even with all the efforts made, the woman remained unidentified until 2019. A new DNA technique was used in an attempt to put a name to her remains. Polk County Detectives were contacted by Yolanda McClary, who is a retired Crime Scene Investigator with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and was working on developing a new TV show to financially assist agencies in identifying unidentified remains in cold cases. VEHICLE VS. PEDESTRIAN FATAL ACCIDENT

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A 40-year-old Roseburg man died Sunday night after he was struck by a vehicle near River Forks Market. On Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 6:19 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers began receiving reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on Garden Valley Road near Fisher Road.  Deputies arrived on scene to learn a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by 38-year-old Brooke Nicole Willborn of Roseburg, had been traveling south on Garden Valley Road when a pedestrian, 40-year-old Mitchell Lee Bandy of Roseburg, stepped out in front of the vehicle and was struck. Witnesses at the scene stated Bandy had been looking down at his cellphone when he stepped out into the path of the vehicle.  Bandy was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Willborn is cooperating with law enforcement and the ongoing investigation. No arrests or citations have been made in the incident.  The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Douglas County

Man Arrested for Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree

Eugene Police Department   Rick Michael Abbott, age 59, of Springfield, agreed to meet with a juvenile female who was actually a Eugene Police Department Violent Crimes Unit detective investigating online crimes against children. Abbott had initiated contact with the ‘teen’ without any solicitation from the undercover detective. Abbott arranged to meet the juvenile at a location for sexual acts. At 1:08 p.m. on September 3, when Abbott showed up, he was met by detectives and detained without incident. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and a battery-powered sexual aid he intended to share with the child. He was lodged at Lane County Jail for Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 101-LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, September 3, 2021 at approximately 12:20 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a four-vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 182. Preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge 1500 pickup, operated by Jessica Herselius (39) of Elmira, was northbound when it failed to yield for stopped traffic. A chain reaction crash occurred with the Dodge 1500 pickup rear-ending a Toyota Rav4, operated by Cynthia Bue (61) of Elmira. The Rav4 then struck the rear of a Mercedes Sprinter van, operated by Adam Woods (43) of Albany. The Mercedes Sprinter van struck a Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Marcia Yoder (75) of Hubbard.  Bue was transported via air ambulance to Sacred heart Medical Center at RiverBend where she was pronounced deceased. Herselius was transported to Peace Harbor Medical Center with injuries. OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

Sheriff's Office On 09/06/21 shortly prior to 10:00pm the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a physical dispute in the 37000 blk of Camp Creek Rd.  Family members called and requested assistance after 59 year old Robert Gutierrez physically struck another family member.  Gutierrez was reported to have retrieved a gun and had fired the gun prior to deputies arriving on scene.  Other residents of the property felt they were unable to leave safely.         Prior to deputies arriving at the location, a deputy made phone contact with at least one of the family members and developed probable cause that Gutierrez had committed crimes including Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Physical Harassment.   The initial investigation indicates that once on scene, deputies attempted to establish verbal contact with Gutierrez and de-escalate the situation; however he responded with profanity, and pointed a firearm at them.  One deputy fired rounds, striking Gutierr

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 38-DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, September 3, 2021 at approximately 8:43 PM, Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 38 near milepost 3.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Nissan Pathfinder, operated by Robyn Loonam (50) of Eugene, was eastbound when it lost control and crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Joely Jimenez (32) of Bronx, NY. The Nissan Pathfinder had been the subject of a driving complaint several minutes prior to the crash. Loonam sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Jimenez was transported by air ambulance to  PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend . A passenger in the Toyota 4-Runner, Levi Rodriguez (46) of  Redway, CA was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital with injuries.  Hwy 38 was closed for approximately 2 hours. GRESHAM POLICE IDENTIFY SUSPECT AND VICTIM TO FRIDAY EVENING HOMICIDE; SEEK ADDITIONAL WITNESSES

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police responded to reports of a stabbing at 4:26 p.m. on Sep. 3rd at the Hogan Woods Apartment complex located at 1645 NE 20th St. Officers arrived and located one injured male victim and one male suspect. The victim, 68-year-old Robert “Randy” Ricketts, was transported to a local hospital but later died of his injuries. An autopsy by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be homicide. Officers learned the disturbance was over a parking space at the location which led to the deadly stabbing. The suspect, 53-year-old, Shawn Hamilton was booked on one charge of Murder II at the Multnomah County Detention Center. Detectives continuing the investigation learned there were several additional witnesses to the altercation who have not been contacted or interviewed by police. Reedsport Reserve Officer Passed Away

Reedsport Police Department  It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that (Gerry) Gerald Clark (Do Good), who was a Reserve Officer for the Reedsport Police Department, has passed away today 09/04/2021 due to medical complications.  On October 04, 2016, I met Gerry after he came into the lobby of the Reedsport Police Department to ask if we needed any volunteers.  At that time, the only application to be a volunteer was the City Employment application, which is about 14 pages long.  I remember hearing him say I just wanted to volunteer I don’t want a job and he handed the application back to the dispatcher.  After hearing this conversation I went to talk to the chief at the time and reworked the employment application to a one page document that would work for a volunteer.  The chief approved the form and I went to find Gerry.  I located him in front of Heidi’s Coffee Shop seated on a bench.  I sat down and asked him if he would be willing to fill out a one-page volunteer applicatio

DEPUTY STRUCK AND INJURED BY IMPAIRED DRIVER

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 2:53 a.m., two deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were completing a DUII investigation on SW 185 th  Avenue, just north of SW Blanton Street, in the community of Aloha. They arrested an adult female suspect and one deputy was placing her in the back seat of the patrol car when the patrol car was struck from behind by a truck traveling at a high rate of speed. One deputy was able to get out of the path of the truck, but the other was struck and thrown to the ground about six feet away. She was treated at the scene by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Metro West Ambulance and transported by ground ambulance to a local trauma center. The female adult in custody was not injured and later provided a breath sample which exceeded the legal limit.
