Government Douglas County, Ore.) – Douglas County Public Works Department (DCPW) via our contractor, Knife River will be performing road construction work on Old Hwy 99 South (aka Dillard Hwy and Country Road #387) between Brockway Road and NE Dole Road (MP 1.89 to MP 5.83) near Winston, Oregon.  The project will begin on Monday, September 20, 2021, and is expected to be completed in mid-October 2021.  As with any construction project, unforeseen delays due to weather, equipment and material availability could extend the anticipated construction dates.      The road repair work will require periodic lane closures along the construction route during day light hours only.  DCPW will provide reader boards with advance warning notices, as well as barricades with traffic delineation to notify the motoring public of the lane closures for the project.   Safety is always a priority for the motoring public, as well as for our road construction crews, we are asking motorists to use c

GRANTS PASS CARJACKING SUSPECT ARRESTED AND IDENTIFIED

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Tuesday 09/14/21 at approximately 9:58 AM, Grants Pass Police Officers responded to the Safeway parking lot on SE 7 th  Street regarding a woman being robbed of her vehicle and being dragged across the parking lot. Officers arrived within minutes to find the victim and her passenger had both received minor injuries when pulled from the vehicle by the suspect. The suspect had fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which is described as a 2008 Hyundai SantaFe. The stolen vehicle information was immediately sent to surrounding police agencies. The investigation revealed the suspect had been inside Safeway just before the robbery where his image was captured by surveillance cameras.  At approximately 12:24 PM the Grants Pass Police Department was advised the California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of the vehicle southbound on I-5 in the Mt. CREWS BATTLING SPRINGFIELD HOUSE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire crews are on scene of a house fire on the 1200 block of West Olympic St.  Arriving firefighters found a fire on the back of the house that had extended to the attic.  Windy conditions provided challenges in the fire attack, but crews were able to keep the fire contained to the attic space.  one occupant was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.  The cause is under investigation. 

EXPLOSION IN TROUTDALE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday, September 13, 2021, at 2:19 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Southeast 42 nd  Circle in Troutdale after callers reported a loud explosion and vehicle fire in the area. Deputies arriving at the scene located the vehicle. Gresham Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Upon further investigation, a person was located inside the burned vehicle. The individual, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.  MCSO detectives are being assisted by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office, Gresham Police Department Explosives Disposal Unit, Gresham Fire Investigators and Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). ATF is providing a certified explosives specialist, a certified fire expert and an explosives detection K9. Missing Person – William Harold Specht

Eugene Police Department   Eugene Police and a local family are asking for the public’s help locating an at risk missing man. Williams Harold Specht, has alzheimers and left his home in the Gilham and Crescent areas around 4:57 p.m. today, September 11 in a vehicle. It is unknown where he may have gone. He has not been able to drive, and will not be able to find his way home on his own.  Specht is a white male, age 77, 5’8” tall, 220 pounds and very thin grey, slicked-back hair. He has a short, grey beard and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing an i.d. bracelet, white t-shirt with a picture of a painting on the front and black jeans.  He left in a 2016 Silver Subaru Forester, Oregon license plate 014LRH.  If anyone has information, please call 911 the non-emergency line at 541-682-5111.   Case #21-14240

142ND WING TO CONDUCT SEPTEMBER 11TH CEREMONY FLYOVERS

Oregon Military Department PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing will conduct 9/11 memorial flyovers this Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 in Vancouver, Wash. and Albany, Ore. According to Colonel David Unruh, 142nd Wing Commander, these flyovers give the wing a chance to reflect. “It’s a privilege to remember all of those who were lost on 9/11. They are lost to us but they are never forgotten,” said Unruh. “Our flybys represent that remembrance of those friends and families taken from us too soon.” The F-15 Eagle fighter jets are scheduled to conduct flyovers at the following community locations at, or around, the designated times on Saturday, 11 September. 9:03 a.m. Albany, Ore. SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

Roseburg Police Dept. On September 9th, 2021 at about 8:00 PM, officers with the Roseburg Police Department responded to the 1300 block of SE Magnolia Street after it was reported John Kliestik (39) was attempting to light his parent’s home on fire while they were inside the residence. Officers on scene verified there were fires inside the residence and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence and make the scene safe. The officers were confronted by Kliestik, who presented an imminent threat to his parents and to the officers, resulting in an officer involved shooting; one officer discharged their firearm, striking Kliestik in the leg. The officers were able to secure Kliestik, render aid, and extinguish the fires within the home. Roseburg Fire Department and ambulance services responded and provided further medical care to Kliestik, whom was transported to Mercy Medical Center and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 09/09/2021, detectives with the Grants Pass Police Department traveled to Roseburg, Oregon for an investigation related to online corruption of a child.  With the assistance of Roseburg patrol and detectives, Ernest Langford Jr was contacted, interviewed, and later lodged at the Douglas County Jail after Ernest Langford Jr attempted to have sexual contact with two minor females via the internet.   ARRESTEE:  Langford Jr, Ernest Dwayne CHARGES:   Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree X2 Luring a Minor x2 This criminal investigation is on-going and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Grants Pass Police Department Detective Yerrick at 541-450-6260. 

SEARCH WARRANT SERVED FOR AN ILLEGAL MARIJUANA OPERATION

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Thursday, September 9, 2021, members of Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) in partnership with Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (Grants Pass DPS, OSP, Josephine County Parole and Probation), Bureau of Land Management and Josephine County Code Enforcement; served search warrants relating to illegal marijuana grow operations in the 6000 block of Caves Highway and 5000 block of Holland Loop Road, outside of Cave Junction, Oregon. During the execution of the search warrants, 7,600 illegal marijuana and hemp plants were seized and destroyed. Additionally, 5,000 pounds of processed marijuana was seized and destroyed along with 200 pounds of illegal cannabis extract.  Also seized were 19 firearms and approximately $210,000 cash. (Side note: the cash, which is subject to forfeiture, can only be used for training and equipment, not personnel.) AIRIAN JOVAN MISURACA SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On September 8, 2021, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Erik Buchér sentenced 44-year-old Airian Jovan Misuraca to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Misuraca had been convicted by a jury in July of six counts of first-degree rape, nine counts of first-degree sodomy and four counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the case against Mr. Misuraca.  “The defendant was unanimously convicted on every count. The jury was clearly impacted by the horrific abuse the child victim had to endure,” said SDDA Brown.   The defendant was facing a life sentence because he had been previously convicted twice of felony sex crimes against children. SDDA Brown urged the court to impose a true-life sentence based on the severity of the crimes, the defendant’s lengthy criminal history, and his lack of any remorse for his actions.   Judge Buchér ultimately agreed with these ar

Amanda Wydur was arrested yesterday in Tualatin, OR and is currently in custody at the Douglas County Jail where she has been charged with Theft in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree. UPDATE 07/22/21 11:30 AM The Roseburg Police Department is seeking the publics’ assistance with locating 29-year-old  Amanda Wydur,  as investigation has established her as the suspect in this case.    Amanda is known to wear wigs and attempt to change and/or disguise her appearance. Joint Task Force Sweep Arrests Six Local Suspects for 61 Felony Counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse, Investigations Uncover Nearly 7000 Explicit Images

Jackson County Sheriff's Office Rogue Valley, Ore. – The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) joint inter-agency task force arrested six separate suspects Thursday on 61 Encouraging Child Sex Abuse felony charges. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and the US Marshals’ Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) along with Central Point Police Department (CPPD), and Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) assisted with the operation that included warrants served throughout Jackson and Josephine County. Although the cases are not connected, in total investigations uncovered nearly 7000 images of child exploitation among the six suspects. Felony charges include 44 first-degree, and 17 second-degree Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse. Out of those arrested, one-third had local child victims. Investigations led the task force throughout the Rogue Valley including addresses in Ashland, Central Point, Grants Pass, Medford, Talent, and White City. Th

Mystic Mountain Fire Update

Douglas Forest Protective Association Firefighters assigned to the Mystic Mountain Fire continue to make good progress toward full containment of the incident.  Overnight, crews completed the construction of fire trails and installed hose lays around the perimeter of the fire before shifting their efforts to mop-up operations.  Today, 70 firefighters are assigned to the fire and are working to extinguish the smoking and smoldering materials within the burned area.   Mapping of the Mystic Mountain Fire was also completed today using GPS coordinates which put the final fire size at 55 acres.  The increase in acreage is due to more accurate mapping rather than additional fire growth.   Tonight, two engine crews will be patrolling the Mystic Mountain Fire.  These crews will utilize handheld infrared cameras to help locate hot spots that are still smoldering inside the fire area.  Hot spots that are located will be flagged and mapped for day shift resources to work on.
