Bear Creek Fire


Callahan / Roseburg, OR:

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, at approximately 5:15 pm., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DPFA) responded to a smoke column that was located by DFPA’s camera detection.

The identified smoke column was located near Bear Creek, in the Callahans of Roseburg, OR.

DFPA’s responding air attack was first on the scene and estimated the size to be 5-10 acres, located in a fell and buck timber on private property, 7.2 miles east of Melqua Road, and 14.2 miles northeast of the developed city of Roseburg.

6 engines, 2 squads, 2 dozers, 1 tender, 2 helicopters, and 1 fixed-wing air attack are currently performing an aggressive initial attack. Dozers are currently making good progress and additional crews from CFPA are making their way to the scene. Crews will be engaged on the fire throughout the night and planning for tomorrow’s continued attack is currently in progress.

Currently, no homes or structures are threatened by this fire.
