Image
Portland Police Bureau On Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 8:29 a.m., Portland Police officers from Central Precinct and the Traffic Division were in the area of the Bridge Pedal event when they were alerted to a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist midspan on the Morrison Bridge. They responded and found the adult male bicyclist with serious injuries. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.  Officers learned that the suspect driver left the scene, and several officers from both Central Precinct and the Traffic Division searched the area for the suspect vehicle, but were unsuccessful in finding him.  Preliminary investigation suggests the adult male bicyclist was westbound on the Morrison Bridge in the left (center) westbound lane. At the time, the westbound lanes were open to all traffic (eastbound was closed for the Bridge Pedal). The suspect driver struck the bicyclist from behind, knocking him to the road. The d...

Klamath County Sheriff's Office The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office is providing an important update regarding the incident involving former Deputy Jakob Brandt. On June 6, 2025, Deputy Brandt placed a 9-1-1 call from the Pilot Travel Center in Klamath Falls, claiming he had been kidnapped at gunpoint by three Hispanic males. In response, our agency, in collaboration with the Klamath Falls Police Department and Oregon State Police, initiated a thorough search and investigation. Surveillance footage and additional evidence soon revealed discrepancies in Deputy Brandt’s account of the incident. The investigation further determined that Deputy Brandt was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the call, resulting in his arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII). He was cited and released from jail, in accordance with state-mandated jail capacity limits. Following an internal review, Deputy Brandt is no longer employed by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office.
