JUVENILES INVOLVED IN ANIMAL ABUSE CASE REFERRED TO DETENTION -- UPDATE -- ADDITIONAL JUVENILE IN CUSTODY

Salem Police Department Yesterday, Salem Police Felony Crimes Unit detectives arrested another juvenile in the animal abuse case.  A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody at his residence in northeast Salem on the following charges: Aggravated animal abuse, first-degree Tampering with evidence Interfering with a peace officer The juvenile was transported to the  Marion County Juvenile Department . The case remains an active investigation. Anyone with information about the case can call the Salem Police Tips Line at 503‑588‑8477. ANIMAL NEGLECT SUSPECT SENTENCED TO 4 YEARS IN PRISON, 3 YEARS POST-PRISON SUPERVISION IN LANE COUNTY, CONCURRENT SENTENCE IN LINN COUNTY

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office In 2020, Creswell area resident Raina Ott entered into a deferred sentencing agreement related to neglect of horses. In January 2023, she was found to have violated the agreement. Ott was convicted, given a 45-day jail sentence, and was put on probation. She was prohibited from any dealings or contact with animals. Between April 2023 and January 2024, Ott committed a series of probation violations and crimes. Ott purchased nearly 100 head of cattle at livestock auctions in Linn and Lane County using fake names, then sold them via social media. The check used to finalize one purchase bounced. The cows were not returned, nor was the balance paid. In a separate case, Ott switched price tags on items she then purchased at an animal care supply store in Eugene. The total loss to the store was just under $1,000. FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH - REEVES CREEK RD

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On June 11th, 2024, at 3:08pm, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash in the 4600 block of Reeves Creek Road. Prior to law enforcement arrival, the driver, Paige Collyar, and passenger, Shannon Hewitt, were pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Evidence at the scene indicated the vehicle was traveling north on Reeves Creek Road at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway striking a tree.  Next of kin have been notified. Gresham Police Dept UPDATE -  Gresham, Ore.—Missing 23-year-old, Brendan Bolsinger was located yesterday and returned home. Brendan left his home in the 1000 block of NE 193 Ave., shortly after 3:00 p.m. He was located in Portland by a TriMet employee near SW 5 Ave. and SW Yamhill St. Gresham Police thanks everyone who shared Brendan’s photograph and helped find him so he could be safely returned home. Gresham, Ore.—Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance with locating a missing 23-year-old male, Brendan Bolsinger. FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH

Roseburg Police Dept. On June 11, 2024 at approximately 8:40 AM, the Roseburg Police Department and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of S.E. Pine Street and S.E. Oak Street in Roseburg, OR. Preliminary investigation indicated a 2019 Ford F-550, operated by Bowan Middlesworth (20) of Azalea, was traveling eastbound on S.E. Oak Street through a red light when a 2012 Toyota Prius, operated by Gene Manor (69) of Roseburg, struck the side of the F-550 near the rear axle. Manor was declared deceased at the scene.  The passenger of the Toyota Prius, Christopher Ronan (57) of Roseburg, suffered a broken arm.  Neither occupant appeared to be wearing their seatbelts. The operator of the F-550, Middlesworth, was not injured. UPDATE: SUSPECT SHOOTING AT CITY-OWNED PROPERTY ARRESTED

Portland Police Bureau The man who has been shooting a firearm at city-owned property is in custody after several additional shootings. On Monday, June 10, 2024, at 1:14 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Oregon Street. When officers arrived, they determined a man driving a dark-colored sedan stopped his vehicle and fired shots at city-owned property before driving away. A short time later, similar shootings were reported along Southeast Stark Street at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast 148th Avenue. Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect vehicle near Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has been identified as Chase P. Grijalva, 28, of Portland. He will be booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on gun and vandalism charges. PURSUIT OF STOLEN SEMI-TRACTOR ENDS WITH ARREST

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Monday morning after he rammed patrol cars and led deputies on a pursuit in a stolen semi-tractor. Interstate 205 was closed in both directions between Mill Plain Blvd. and State Route 500 for more than an hour. Around 9 a.m., the owner of the semi called 911 to report that they were tracking the vehicle in Southeast Portland. The semi was described as a red, 2022 International cab over. It was not pulling a trailer. It is owned by Knight Transportation. About a half an hour later, the owner reported the semi was in the area of NE Marine Drive and NE Interlachen Lane in Fairview. Around 9:45 a.m., deputies located the stolen semi parked at Blue Lake Park. When deputies attempted to box-in the semi, the driver rammed a patrol vehicle, forcibly pushing the vehicle backward into another patrol vehicle. FATAL CRASH - INTERSTATE 5 - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police Douglas County, Ore. 6 June 24-  On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:21 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5, near milepost 108, in Douglas County. The preliminary investigation indicated a pedestrian, William Nailus Baird (74) of Myrtle Creek, was walking on a curve in the northbound fast lane when he was struck by a northbound Peterbilt commercial motor vehicle, operated by Jashandeep Sran (24) of British Columbia. The Peterbilt attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. The pedestrian (Baird) was declared deceased at the scene. The Peterbilt operator (Sran) was not injured. The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation. DOG SEIZED FOR ANIMAL ABUSE ADOPTED BY DEPUTY

Sheriff's Office On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of animal abuse in the 3000 block of SW 198th Avenue in Aloha.  When deputies contacted the caller, they were introduced to “Dice,” a mixed-breed female dog cowering in the corner. Dice was covered in facial, head, and neck wounds, and her whiskers were burned down. Deputies learned the previous owner gave the caller the dog in this condition. The caller relinquished any ownership interest in Dice to deputies who took her in for immediate medical care. After meeting with the veterinarian, deputies believed the previous owner to be responsible for Dice's injuries and returned to contact the man.  41 year old Brandon Ash of Beaverton was arrested and will face the following charges: animal abuse in the first degree, animal neglect in the first degree, and animal neglect in the second degree.  The investigating deputy fell in love with Dice and decided to...

Portland Police Bureau A man who is shooting and damaging city property is being sought, and detectives are releasing photographs and video in an effort to gather information about the case. Since Monday, May 27, 2024, the suspect has fired a handgun at city equipment at least 7 times, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. The type of city infrastructure being targeted by the vandal is not being released at this time for investigative reasons. MAN ARRESTED FOR ABUSING MULTIPLE CHILDREN; ADDITIONAL VICTIMS SUSPECTED

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office Over the past several months, Violent Crimes Unit detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating a sexual abuse case after multiple children disclosed being abused by the same person. A Washington County grand jury issued an indictment against 39-year-old Jacob Paul Luther Bentley of Bay City. With the help of the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Bentley was arrested on June 3, 2024. He was booked into the Washington County Jail for 12 counts of sexual abuse in the first degree and two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. During the investigation, detectives learned two other children also disclosed that Bentley abused them as well. The abuse was reported to have happened in both Washington and Tillamook counties. MISSING 10 AND 12-YEAR-OLD SIBLINGS LOCATED; UNHARMED

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Missing siblings reported to have run away last week have been located. Gresham police asked the public for assistance with locating missing 10 and 12-year-old siblings, Alexander “Alex” and Alissa Lewis on May 29. They left their home in the 1200 block of NW Wonderview Dr., in Gresham, sometime after school on May 28. Their mother had received reports of sightings while they were gone but those tips did not lead to their return. On June 4, Gresham Police renewed the call for help, asking for anyone with information of their whereabouts to call 911. Today, both Alex and Alissa were located safe and unharmed. Detectives are thankful for the support of the community and partner agencies who helped with the investigation. Traffic Safety Mission Leads to 5 Arrests, 14 Towed Vehicles and 121 Traffic Citations

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office led a traffic safety mission focused on a planned car rally with a past history of attendees engaging in unsafe and illegal conduct. These events have previously resulted in numerous traffic disruptions and reckless driving behaviors, including attempts to takeover streets. Activities such as these create a public safety risk, disrupt traffic, and delay first responders responding to emergencies. Beginning around 4:00 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and several partner agencies used saturation patrols in the Clackamas area of SE 82 nd  Avenue and SE Monterey Avenue to deter criminal conduct and enforce traffic violations. Oregon State Police Josephine County, Ore. 3 June 24-  On Monday, June 3, 2024, at 7:08 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 199, near milepost 16, in Josephine County. The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Dodge Ram 1500, operated by Brandon Richard Cain (28) of Grants Pass, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a tree on the southbound shoulder. The operator of the Dodge (Cain) was declared deceased at the scene. The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. Speed is considered the primary factor in the crash. On June 3 rd , 2024, the Oregon City Police Department responded to a missing person investigation near the 900 block of South End Rd.  During the investigation, it was determined 35-year-old Maddie Holmes left her mother’s residence two days prior on June 1 st , with her two children 4-year-old Teagan and 5-year-old Axl.  Ms. Holmes is believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis.    Ms. Holmes is a frequent visitor to various camping sites and may be in the vicinity of the Tillamook National Forest in Yamhill County.  Ms. Holmes is further described as a white female, 5’3’’ tall, weighing 180 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes. District Attorney's Office Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today announced that a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge sentenced Christopher Lee Pray, 39, to 22 years in prison after he entered a plea for multiple charges from incidents that took place between 2022 and 2024. Senior Deputy District Attorney Eric Zimmerman represented the State in Pray’s cases. The total sentence is the result of a negotiated plea agreement with the defendant and his counsel to resolve several open cases. UPDATE: THOMAS COOPER SENTENCED TO 75 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR MANSLAUGHTER

Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today announced that a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge sentenced Thomas Earl Cooper, 36, to 75 months in prison for causing the death of Tyrell Penney, 27, in July 2020. The trial took place in front of Judge Christopher Marshall from May 20-31, 2024, with Deputy District Attorney Brad Kalbaugh and Chief Deputy District Attorney Kirsten Snowden as prosecutors. The jury returned a verdict on May 31, finding Cooper guilty of one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree with a Firearm. Judge Marshall imposed the 75-month prison sentence on June 3, 2024.  In a previous trial, Cooper was acquitted of one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (victim Masico Walker Jr.), one count of assault in the First Degree, and one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.   Cooper is currently in custody in Multnomah County and will be transported to the Oregon Department of Corrections to ser...

Portland Police Bureau A woman is recovering from injuries after jumping from a moving car to escape a kidnapping, and the suspect was arrested on felony charges. On Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1:39a.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a woman screaming and running from a man in the area of Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Lincoln Street. When they arrived they found the woman hiding in a driveway. The victim, a 47-year-old woman, reported that the suspect, a stranger, pulled his car over near Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast Division Street and offered her a ride home. When they arrived at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Division Street, the victim opened her door to get out. The suspect then accelerated to a high speed, preventing her from leaving.
