Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue At 3:55 p.m. today, multiple callers reported a crash on the Interstate 5 northbound Nyberg Street off-ramp. Initially, it was reported that one vehicle was on its top, and the driver was entrapped. As Tualatin Police arrived, they communicated to firefighters that multiple vehicles were involved and that a second patient was entrapped in a vehicle that came to rest on its side. The first-arriving crew assessed the total number of patients and their status to prioritize the most critical. They also pulled a hose line as gas and fumes leaked from multiple vehicles. TVF&R’s truck and heavy rescue crews arrived and focused on the extrication of the two patients who were entrapped in two separate vehicles. Due to the precarious position and proximity of the two vehicles, they worked first to stabilize the vehicles utilizing a system of struts and shoring devices. Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On May 20, 2024, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) with the assistance of Josephine County Public Health & Building Safety, executed a search warrant in the 900 block of North Frontage Road, Wolf Creek, regarding an illegal indoor marijuana grow site. During the execution of the warrant, over 200 marijuana starter plants were seized and destroyed.  The property also had multiple electrical, water, and solid waste code violations. These violations could result in the criminal forfeiture of the property.  Kari Davis was taken into custody and lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On May 19th at about 1:30 p.m., Lane County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a dispute with shots fired in the 28700 block of Bailey Lane, south of Junction City. Investigation determined David Lynn Parker, 69, drove to the location while intoxicated to confront several Hispanic workers about a perceived theft.   Parker pointed a rifle at a worker and fired several times, injuring him. The worker then struck Parker, knocking him unconscious, and secured the firearm. Parker also made racially derogatory comments about the victims.   Parker was evaluated for his injury then lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Bias Crime in the First Degree x3, Menacing x4, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon x3, Reckless Endangering x4, Coercion, and DUII. Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — At approximately 8:30 a.m. today, callers reported a vehicle collision near the intersection of  Croisan Creek RD and Roberta AV S . The Salem Police Traffic Team and other emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a car crashed into a power pole and tree leaving downed electrical line across Croisan Creek RD.  The preliminary investigation by the Traffic Team revealed the driver of the car, Richard Gary Brunkal of Salem, was traveling southbound on Croisan Creek RD when he was unable to maintain control of the vehicle. The compact crossover car he was driving left the right shoulder of the roadway and sheared off a utility pole and struck two trees before stopping. Officers performed lifesaving measures for the passenger before paramedics arrived; however, the passenger, Judith Ann Brunkal, age 84 of Salem, was pronounced deceased. Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies responded to a call that a hiker had fallen from a cliff west of the Horsetail Falls trailhead. When deputies arrived, another hiker was performing CPR. Cascade Locks Fire & EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the hiker deceased at approximately 4:35 p.m. The deceased hiker is identified as 22-year-old Elisha Angelic Macias, of Hillsboro, Oregon.  Macias was hiking with friends on the Oneonta Trail. MCSO deputies determined, at some point, Macias separated herself from the group and went off trail. No one in the group saw her fall. It is estimated that she fell 50-60 feet. Oregon State Police GRANT COUNTY, Ore. 20 May 2024  – The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is seeking the public’s help in identifying the person(s) responsible for shooting and killing a wolf in Grant County.  On Monday, May 19, 2024, the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) notified OSP’s Fish & Wildlife Division a mortality signal had been received from a collared wolf from the Logan Valley Pack.  OSP Fish & Wildlife troopers responded to the scene with ODFW personnel and found a deceased yearling male wolf which died from an apparent gunshot wound. The deceased wolf was found on private property adjacent to County Road 62 near milepost 11, approximately 11 miles southeast of Prairie City.  The preliminary investigation indicated the wolf was likely shot from the roadway between the late evening on May 18, 2024, and the early morning hours of May 19, 2024.  Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact OSP ...

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore- On May 15, 2024, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Erwin found Jair Leyva Noriega, age 21, guilty of Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Unlawful Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance to a Minor in a bench trial. He was sentenced to 75 months in prison which will run consecutively to a prior sentence of 13 months in prison on domestic violence-related charges, for a combined prison sentence of 88 total months. Senior Deputy District Attorney Andrew Freeman prosecuted this case.  This verdict is a rare occurrence in Oregon. Unlike some states and federal law, Oregon does not have a crime that specifically addresses drug dealers who cause overdose deaths. Sometimes the crime of criminally negligent homicide or manslaughter can be charged. However, those cases are rare and require specific evidence. Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to swimmers in distress near the low head dam on the Willamette River in Glenwood  Saturday afternoon .  Crews were alerted to the water rescue call  at 3:19 PM and the first land based fire crews arrived 5 minutes later to guide the water rescue boats.  In all, 7 college age males were assisted following a near drowning incident involving the defunct dam and debris in it.  The individuals were floating the river in non-rated floatation devices without wearing life jackets.  Some of all of the swimmers were forced under the water due to currents and obstacles called strainers.  Most were washed down stream from the dam while one was able to escape the churning current by grabbing a branch to pull himself up concrete wall.  The low head dam is a dangerous obstacle in the waterway on a good day.  With cold water, changing flows and debris caught on the dam, it is much m...

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue At 12:00 p.m., a 911 caller reported smoke coming from the window of a home in the 6000 block of Southwest Zabaco Terrace in Aloha. The caller rang the doorbell and attempted to find out if anyone was inside, but no one answered.  Shortly thereafter, fire crews arrived and saw smoke venting from a window on the home's second story. Crews quickly made entry and located a fire in a bedroom. As they knocked down the flames, firefighters also thoroughly searched the structure. Unfortunately, they located one deceased occupant. A TVF&R chaplain was dispatched to provide on-scene counseling and support as needed.  During the fire attack and while searching for occupants, firefighters found it difficult to maneuver due to an extensive number of personal items inside the home. Coos County Sheriff's Office On May 11th, 2024, Sergeant J. Clayburn engaged with a burglary victim from an incident on April 24th at North Ten Mile Lake, collecting initial details. Deputy R. Baker obtained further information and game camera images from the victim the following day, revealing Kile Elder (28) as the suspect with his vehicle. The property had been forcibly entered by cutting through two gates and the residence’s side with a Sawzall, leading to the theft of various items. Deputy Baker discovered Mr. Elder owned a property in Douglas County. Although Mr. Elder was absent, a Douglas County Deputy verified his identity from the game camera images, and stolen goods were found on-site. Probable Cause for Mr. Elder’s arrest was issued by Deputy Baker, who promptly notified law enforcement agencies of the search for Mr. Elder. Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 14 year old runaway who is considered endangered because he is missing his anti-seizure medication. Kaleb Bolin Moore, 14, left his home in the 2400 block of NE Division St., in Gresham, last night without permission. Kaleb may have gone to a friend’s house in the area.    Kaleb is described by his family as 5-feet and 7-inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Lebanon Fire District At Approximately 1:21 AM Lebanon Fire District was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at an adult foster care home. BC31 arrived on scene to a two-story home that was well involved in fire. The owners of the adult foster home stated that there was still someone inside the structure. BC31 upgraded the fire to a second alarm fire, requesting additional resources from across the county. The first arriving engine and medic unit forced their way through a locked door to search the room for the missing victim. The victim was located and removed from the burning building and then emergently transported to Lebanon Community Hospital. Hot embers from the fire were being blown across the street and started another structure on fire. A single engine was able to quickly extinguish the second fire and return to the original fire. Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Friday May 17, 2024 at approximately 4:44 pm, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a citizen report of a backpack and dog leash that was found on the Rogue River Trail and there appeared to be no sign of a person or dog in the area.  The reporting party stated that they noticed the backpack on their way down the trail. Upon seeing the backpack and belongings still in place later that afternoon on their way out, the citizen made a report to the Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday May 18, 2024, a Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputy hiked the trail and located the backpack on the trail approximately 1 mile south of the Grave Creek Boat Ramp. A search with verbal callouts did not locate a person or dog.  Additionally, a drone was utilized to try to locate the owner. Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to reports of inappropriate behavior by a man inside the city library. The concerning information involved a man seen masturbating at a table in an area where minors were present. Staff from the library contacted the police.  Investigators gained access to video footage depicting inappropriate behavior on May 1, 2024, by the man in close proximity to minors. There is concern that multiple victims were in view of public indecency.  The man, identified as 30-year-old Aaron Leap, was located on May 8, 2024, and taken into custody. Oregon State Police Jackson County, Ore. 15 May 24-  On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:23 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a motorcycle versus log truck crash on Hwy 66, near milepost 11, in Jackson County. The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by George Henry Macomber (66) of Klamath Falls, crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons and struck an eastbound Kenworth log truck, operated by Robert David Sandene (44) of Cave Junction, head-on. The operator of the Harley Davidson (Macomber) was transported and declared deceased at the hospital. The operator of the Kenworth (Sandene) was not injured during the collision. The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Oregon State Police Lane County, Ore. 14 May 24-  On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 2:13 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-126, near milepost 1.5, in Lane County. Oregon State Police CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. 14 May 2024  – On Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:54 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Hwy. 213 near milepost 13 in Clackamas County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a black Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Steven Andrew Boyles (38) of Oregon City, was traveling northbound when he lost control of the motorcycle for an unknown reason and left the roadway off the northbound shoulder.  The operator of the motorcycle (Boyles) was declared deceased at the scene.  The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—The leader of Portland’s 18 th  Street Gang was sentenced to federal prison today for his role in a conspiracy to traffic large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine into the Portland area for redistribution and sale. Gustavo Torres-Mendez, 38, a Portland resident, was sentenced to 168 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, in 2019, following his release from state prison for first degree robbery with a firearm, Torres-Mendez established himself as the leader of the 18 th  Street Gang in Portland. At the time, investigators were aware that Torres-Mendez maintained a significant stature with and history in the gang developed while serving time in Oregon state prisons and for his activities out of custody. Portland Police Bureau On the morning of Tuesday, May 14, 2024, officers assigned to Central Precinct’s Neighborhood Response Team (NRT), in coordination with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Strategic Prosecution and Services Unit, served a search warrant at a home near Northeast 11th Avenue and Northeast Skidmore Street in the Sabin Neighborhood. Gabriel Rodriguez-Lee, who is responsible for the OMEGA tag, lives at the home. During the service of the search warrant, a substantial amount of evidence, including hundreds of iterations of the OMEGA tag, was seized. Eight felony cases of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, as well as one misdemeanor case of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, will be referred to the District Attorney’s office. U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon MEDFORD, Ore.—A Medford man was sentenced to federal prison Monday for distributing fentanyl that caused the overdose death of a local teenager. John Rocha, 31, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison and four years’ supervised release. According to court documents, on September 7, 2021, officers from the Medford Police Department responded to a report of an overdose death of a local 17-year-old high school student. Investigators soon learned that the teenager had taken counterfeit Percocet pills containing fentanyl. Within days, investigators identified Rocha as the victim’s fourth-level drug supplier and, when confronted by law enforcement, he admitted to having recently sold counterfeit pills. On February 3, 2022, a federal grand jury in Medford returned a five-count indictment charging Rocha and four others with distributing fentanyl, possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug...

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire is on scene of an apartment fire at the Boulders on the River 655 Goodpasture Island Rd in Eugene.  Firefighters were alerted to the fire at 3:02 AM and Engine 9 from the Valley River station arrived at 3:06 AM.  The crew found fire burning in a second floor apartment, conducted a search for victims and stretched hoses for fire attack.  The fire was contained to the apartment of origin and there were no injuries to civilians or fire crews.
