Adult Son Arrested by Grants Pass Police after Mother Stabbed with a Butcher Knife

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Ore. – This morning at approximately 10:16 a.m., the Grants Pass 9-1-1 Center received a call from a mother who said her son had stabbed her in the back, and the knife was still impaled in her. Grants Pass Police officers, Grants Pass Fire & Rescue, and AMR medics expedited their response to the scene on SW Vicki Lane. Upon arrival, police officers arrested Adin Kimball, a 33-year-old male, and began first aid for the victim who still had an approximately 12-inch butcher knife sticking from her shoulder blade area. The arriving medics stabilized the victim and transported her to the Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment, where she remained in serious condition. Grants Pass Police Detectives assisted with the investigation, and Adin Kimball was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Assault in the first degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

COOS COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 162 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE FOLLOWING ODOJ CYBER TIP INVESTIGATION

Coos County Sheriff's Office Salem, OR – A Coos County man has been sentenced to more than 162 years in prison, after a jury found he was guilty of nine counts of sexual abuse of five children. The trial involving 53-year-old Dewayne Forrest comes after an investigation by the Oregon Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. ICAC received two cyber tips in 2021 about child sexual abuse materials being uploaded to an online storage account connected to a cellular telephone number registered under Forrest’s name. After executing a search warrant, Forrest admitted to ODOJ special agents that he had been previously investigated numerous times for child sex abuse since the 1990s in Coos County but had never been charged.  The agents followed up on the abuse complaints spanning 20 years, and after a thorough investigation, Forrest was charged with Rape, Sodomy, Unlawful Sexual Penetration, Sexual Abuse and Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degr...

Beaverton Police Seeking Suspect in Hit-and-Run Incident

Beaverton Police Department   Beaverton, Oregon – The Beaverton Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred on May 5, 2025, at approximately 6:16 AM on westbound Highway 26, between Highway 217 and Cedar Hills Boulevard.   The preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may have been the result of a road rage interaction between the driver of a blue late-model Kia Carnival and a motorcycle rider. The Kia sideswiped the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control. The driver of the Kia then fled the scene. Investigators believe the driver of the Kia’s actions were intentional. The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.   The driver of the Kia has been described as a white, male, adult, approximately 30 - 40 years of age, with a black beard. Marion County Jury finds Woman Guilty of Attempting to Stab Two Keizer Police Officers

Marion Co. Dist. Attorney's Office   On April 29, 2025, a Marion County jury found Brandi Lea Cortes, 41, guilty of two counts of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Assault of a Public Safety Officer, one count of Attempted Assault of a Public Safety Officer, and two counts of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer.   The charges result from a July 28, 2024, incident where  Cortes eluded law enforcement and attempted to stab two Keizer police officers with a knife upon her arrest.   Officers Jeremie Fletcher and Cody Stupfel were wearing ballistics vests during the incident and were ultimately not injured by Cortes' knife; however, Officer Fletcher susteained a sprained wrist effectuating her arrest.   Marion County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Tracy Prall presided over the two day trial. Medford Police On April 28, 2025, at approximately 3:50 PM, we responded to a reported disturbance at Jackson County Community Justice on W. Main St. Officers learned that a male suspect, identified as Alfred W. Mabrier, 47, had allegedly stolen a black Honda Civic from a female acquaintance following a domestic disturbance and fled the scene recklessly, causing multiple hit-and-run accidents. A Jackson County Sheriff Office (JCSO) deputy located the stolen vehicle traveling south on S. Pacific Highway in South Medford and attempted a traffic stop. Mabrier eluded the deputy at high speed, driving dangerously through South Medford, Phoenix, Talent, and into Ashland, where he rear-ended another vehicle and continued to flee. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to announce the passing of K9 Ozzy due to health complications.   Ozzy, an 8-year-old German Shepherd, was certified for duty on May 22, 2020, and faithfully served the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Douglas County until his retirement on April 23, 2025.   After thoughtful consultation with the veterinarian on Friday, April 25, 2025, it was determined that it was in Ozzy’s best interest, as his quality of life had been steadily declining, and he was showing signs of significant deterioration, that he be put to rest.   Ozzy was partnered with Deputy Barden throughout his career, and together they formed a strong and effective team. Ozzy’s contributions to the Sheriff’s Office and Douglas County were substantial.
