LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING AN INDIVIDUAL WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Around 10 a.m., on Tuesday, November 16, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) patrol deputies received a report of a person attempting to steal a vehicle in the 44000 block of East Larch Mountain Road. The suspect was not found upon arrival. Based on a person description and information gathered by MCSO throughout the day, the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Logan Allen Cantwell. Deputies learned Cantwell was  wanted by law enforcement for shooting at a Wasco County sheriff’s deputy in Shaniko on Saturday, Nov. 13 . Out of an abundance of caution, a reverse 911 call was issued to properties in the area east of Corbett High School to the community of Bridal Veil and north of the Multnomah County line to I-84. The call asked for residents to shelter in place and report suspicious activity to 911. GRANTS PASS HIGH SCHOOL PROTEST

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, OR – Late last week the Grants Pass Police Department was notified by School District 7 officials of a student led walkout planned for today, November 16, 2021. The school district requested a police presence at Grants Pass High School and both Grants Pass Middle Schools to monitor what was anticipated to be a peaceful twenty five minute protest by students.  Officers were deployed at all three schools as requested. Both North and South Middle Schools had a small number of student participants with no reported problems. At 1:48 PM approximately 200-300 students gathered in front of the Grants Pass High School 9 th  Street entrance in an apparent protest that had moved into and blocked the street. Additional police officers arrived to protect the group’s right to freedom of speech and to maintain public peace and safety. EPD SWAT successfully takes E. Amazon residential armed barricaded suspect into custody

Eugene Police Department Central Lane 911 received multiple calls regarding shots fired in the E. Amazon Drive/Snell area neighborhood at 5:12 p.m. on November 15. Residents of a home sheltered in place after a bullet was shot from a nearby residence into their home through a window, with glass injuring one of the occupants. The neighbors initially sheltered in place and then were extricated by Eugene Police. The suspect, Nicholas Hanford Gerber, age 29, had access to multiple firearms within the home.  A CENS message was sent in three block radius to shelter in place for safety and some other homes were evacuated. SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone Team responded to the scene, along with Eugene Springfield Fire for medical contingencies. Crisis Negotiation Team worked for hours on the call with the barricaded suspect to try to get him to come out of the house. OSP INVESTIGATES CRASH HIGHWAY 20- DESCHUTES COUNTY

Oregon State Police On November 15, 2021, at around 1:59 P.M., OSP responded to a crash on Highway 20 and Cooley Rd in Bend, Oregon.  A School Bus, driven by John Norwood (59) of Bend, was stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection of Highway 20 at Cooley Rd when a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Jeffrey Ruthardt (48) of Bend, drove into the front of the bus.  No children were present on the bus.  Both drivers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  This is an ongoing investigation. The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Bend Police Department, Bend Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

MAN ARRESTED IN SHOOTING ASSAULT OF WIFE (MARCOLA)

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office LCSO Case #21-6397 Deputies and paramedics responded to the 39000blk of Woods. Rd. near Marcola on Friday after receiving the report that someone had been shot.  The victim’s husband called 911 and claimed that his wife had shot herself. Upon arrival authorities discovered a 59 year old female with a life threatening gunshot wound to her neck.  She was transported to a local hospital but quickly flown to OHSU for emergency treatment. Evidence on scene suggested that the victim’s husband, 57 year old Seven Illman, shot the victim.  Evidence also revealed that the suspect and victim had been in an argument just prior to the shooting. Illman was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail on the charge of Assault in the 1st Degree.  The victim remains hospitalized with serious physical injuries.

POLICE ARREST MAN FOR FIRING GUN DURING DISTURBANCE

Grants Pass Police Department On Monday, November 15, 2021, at approximately 1:45 AM, Josephine County 911 received an emergency phone call from a resident in the 400 block of NE D St.  The female caller reported two men, one known to her, were physically fighting inside her home. The caller also reported one of the male subjects was armed with a gun. Grants Pass Police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Police officers arriving at the incident location reported hearing several gunshots coming from the direction of the residence.   In the driveway of the residence, officers encountered the female caller who was loading her two small children into her vehicle. Officers evacuated the woman and both children to a safe location nearby. One of the male subjects involved in the fight was contacted at the residence and detained for questioning. Illegal Marijuana Processing Facility Burns Down Near Eagle Point, Authorities Discover Butane Honey Oil Lab Nearby, Seize Marijuana, Oil

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case # 21-6009 Eagle Point, Ore. - A fire at a local unlicensed marijuana processing facility alerted authorities to an illegal butane honey oil (BHO) laboratory Saturday night. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and Fire District Three (JCFD3) firefighters responded for multiple calls about a building on fire at a marijuana grow at 7:40 p.m. Saturday on the 6400 block of Butte Falls Highway near Eagle Point. Responding units found a detached garage on fire near other structures. The garage housed an illegal marijuana processing facility and was fully engulfed in flames. Authorities discovered the illegal BHO lab in a building next to the burning garage. Jackson County’s Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) was called in to investigate and seized 300 pounds of processed marijuana, and 100 mason jars full of butane honey oil. FATAL CRASH HIGHWAY 99E- CLACKAMAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On November 13, 2021, at about 7:46 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a multiple vehicle fatal crash on Highway 99E in Oregon City. Preliminary investigation revealed a Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by Daniel Lucero (33) of Gervais, was headed southbound on SR-99E near Dunes Rd when, according to witnesses, he ran a red light and collided nearly head-on with a Chevrolet Van, operated by Joel Gibson (39) of Medford.  As a result of the collision, Lucero suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The highway was closed for over three hours while the Oregon State Police investigated the incident. OSP was assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon City Police Department, Gladstone Police Department, AMR, Clackamas Fire, Clackamas County ME's Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

FATAL VEHICLE VS. PEDESTRIAN- LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On November 13, 2021, at about 7:09 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a pedestrian vs. Semi crash that occurred on Interstate-5 near milepost 234 southbound outside Albany.  The preliminary investigation revealed Daniel Montoya (39) of Albany was observed laying down on the northbound side of Interstate-5 and then began running across the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate-5. As he crossed the southbound lanes of travel, he ran in front of a non-involved passenger car that swerved to not hit him. Behind, the passenger vehicle was a 2021 Mack semi-Truck driven by Alan Steven (26) of British Columbia, Canada, who was southbound in the slow lane of Interstate-5 and could not avoid colliding head-on with Montoya.  Montoya was pronounced deceased at the scene. OSP was assisted at the scene by the Albany Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed

TWO ADULTS IN CUSTODY AFTER STRIKING MCSO PATROL CAR

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office On November 13, 2021 at approximately 1445 hours deputies on proactive patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the Motel 6 parking lot on NW Frontage Rd. in Troutdale.  The vehicle had extensive body damage and no license plates.  Deputies also noticed two adults passed out in the vehicle with drug paraphernalia in plain view. When deputies knocked on the window to check on the occupants, the male in the driver's seat, later identified as BRANDON JAMES ANTONIO LOPEZ, age 25, woke up and immediately put the vehicle into reverse and started to turn.  One of the deputies was almost crushed between the suspect vehicle and a parked car in the next parking spot over.  The suspect vehicle then intentionally struck the front of the parked patrol vehicle in an attempt to escape the deputies. The suspect vehicle became stuck on the push bumper on the patrol vehicle and the suspects refused to exit the vehicle.  After several minutes of verbal command
