THEFT SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER REFUSING TO EXIT HOME

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On 03/29/2023 just before 2:00pm the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a theft that occurred at a construction site in the 90200blk of Coburg Rd.  A construction crew advised that as they returned to their worksite they observed a Mitsubishi car speed away.  The workers then discovered that thousands of dollars’ worth of tools had been stolen.  Workers had been able to note the license plate number on the car. Deputies identified the suspects as 34-year-old Trevor Lee Hendricks and 31-year-old Jessica Marie Jackson.  Hendricks was also found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Eugene Municipal Court.   Deputies responded to the suspect’s residence in the 2800 blk of Matt Dr. in Eugene and attempted to make contact with them.  Jackson was cooperative with deputies, but Hendricks remained inside the residence and refused to come out.  Deputies, including K9 Ripp and his handler Deputy Chris Gardner, entered the residence.  Hendricks fin

SALEM DRUG TRAFFICKER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon MEDFORD, Ore.—On March 29, 2023, a Salem, Oregon man was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after he was caught transporting several dozen pounds of methamphetamine. David Contreras, aka Jorge Castillo-Gomez, 51, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. According to court documents, on April 9, 2019, Contreras and an accomplice were traveling north on Interstate 5 near Central Point, Oregon when they were stopped by an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper for speeding. As the trooper approached the vehicle, he observed a cardboard box inside containing a clear package with a substance resembling methamphetamine. While the trooper processed the traffic violation, he determined that the driver had a suspended Oregon driver’s license and Contreras, a passenger, did not possess a license. GUNS, DRUGS, AND AMMUNITION LOCATED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office Early this morning, deputies stopped a car that ran a red light. Shortly after, they located three guns, ammunition, and fentanyl in the car and on the driver. On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 12:12 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a 2008 red Chevrolet Impala for running a red light at the intersection of SW Dennis Avenue and SW Oak Street. Once the Impala stopped, the deputy contacted the driver, 25-year-old Jessie Chavez-Echeverria, and learned he had a suspended driver’s license. During the traffic stop, deputies learned that Chavez-Echeverria was a convicted felon and found a 9mm handgun in the center console. Shortly after, deputies located two additional guns, ammunition, and fentanyl in a bag that Chavez-Echeverria had with him. Chavez-Echeverria was arrested for three counts of felon in possession of a firearm and a parole violation detainer.   Charges for the fentanyl are pending, and additional charges are likely. Cl

Man arrested after running from the deputy and giving false name

Coos County Sheriff's Office On March 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Sgt. Slater from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling on Seven Devils Road near milepost 12 when he saw a man he knew had valid warrants for his arrest.  Sgt. Slater attempted to contact Brian R. Williams (45) of Bandon at the location. Brian subsequently fled on foot into the brush surrounded by garbage. Dispatch confirmed the warrants while Sgt. Slater removed K9 Cena to track for Brian. K9 Cena tracked to the back of the property, into the brush, and down a steep drainage, where she located Brian hiding in a small hole in the side of the hill. Brian was taken into custody at this time. When asked for his name, Brian responded with, “Casey,” and then became irate.  It was learned that Brian was also on abscond status regarding his probation; however, this could not be confirmed at the time. Sheriff’s Deputies And Myrtle Point Fire Rescue Young Woman From River

Coos County Sheriff's Office On March 29, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a young woman advising that her sister had been swept downstream in fast water on the South Fork of the Coquille River. The caller said she and her sister had been recreating at Albert Powers Park off of Powers Hwy. The caller told dispatch that her sister did not swim well, was wearing a life jacket, and was in a small blue and black raft.  Dispatch immediately dispatched the call to on-duty Sheriff’s Deputies and Myrtle Point Fire. After receiving the distress call, everyone, including the Sheriff and Patrol Commander, dropped what they were doing to respond and assist in any way possible.  Numerous Sheriff’s Deputies and Myrtle Point Fire Personnel went down to the river’s edge from milepost ten to eight, looking for any sign of the young woman. Coos Bay man arrested on a traffic stop after he provided false info to deputy

Coos County Sheriff's Office On March 29, 2023, at 10:37 a.m. Sergeant A. Slater from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop of a vehicle on West Beaverhill Road near Hemlock Lane for several traffic violations. The vehicle’s driver attempted to flee the scene on foot and was stopped by Sergeant Slater. The vehicle’s driver initially provided false information through a fictitious name and date of birth. The man then attempted to use his brother’s name, also unsuccessfully. After an investigation, the vehicle’s driver was identified as Brian J. Hembree (46) of Coos Bay. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised Brian had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  Brian was arrested on the outstanding warrants and charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine. UPDATED CHARGES: SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO ARRESTS

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On March 28 th , the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the US Marshalls Office and Josephine County Animal Control, executed a search warrant in the 200 Block of South Caves Avenue in Cave Junction, Oregon.  The search warrant was obtained to recover a stolen John Deere tractor located on the property.     The occupants of the residence, Joseph Larue and Danielle Brown, were contacted and detained without incident.  While executing the search warrant, Deputies located the tractor and also discovered 10 dogs in a garage, some of which were in cages.  The living conditions for the dogs did not appear to meet the requirements of “providing minimum care” and a second search warrant was applied for and granted to seize the dogs.  Josephine County Animal Control transported the dogs to the animal shelter.  Joseph Larue and Danielle Brown are the suspects of a previous animal neglect case from September 2022 involving a local business

FATAL CRASH - HWY 101 - CLATSOP COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, March 27, at approximately 6:47 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 101, near milepost 30, in Clatsop County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a Toyota Corolla, operated by Maria Guadalupe Nolazco Luna (20) of Cannon Beach, was southbound on Highway 101, near mile post 30, at the intersection with Sunset Boulevard. While making a left turn onto Sunset Boulevard, the sedan was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Dodge Ram 2500, operated by Jeffre Cottrell (41) of Rock Springs (WY). The operator of the Toyota declined medical transport from the scene and the operator of the Dodge was reportedly uninjured.   A passenger in the Toyota, a male juvenile (12), was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.   The highway was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.   OSP was assisted by the Cannon Beach Fire De

Coos County Sheriff's Office On March 28th, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a woman trespassing at the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park in Bridge.  Deputies R. Baker and B. Freerkesn drove to the location and contacted the woman trespassing, who was identified as Cynthia Mayse. Mrs. Mayse was trespassed from the site and grabbed some of her belongings while leaving a purple backpack on the ground.  Mrs. Mayse was asked about the backpack and advised deputies that it wasn’t hers. No other owner of the bag was located. The pack was removed from the location at the R.V. Park’s request, believing it belonged to Mrs. Mayse.  A search of the backpack revealed a bag of a white/clear substance with visually sizable crystal-like rocks. The substance tested positive for Methamphetamine with a weight of 22 grams. The Methamphetamine was seized and logged into evidence for destruction. Click Here To Download Our App

LENGTHY POACHING CASE ENDS WITH CONVICTION- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On March 17, 2023, Albert Lampert (69) of Glendale was found guilty of 21 misdemeanor charges relating to criminal trespassing and wildlife violations in Douglas County Circuit Court.  He was convicted by a jury of his peers after a 3-day trial.  The charges stemmed from an elk decoy operation that occurred in November 2020 by OSP Fish & Wildlife Troopers from the Roseburg and Coos Bay Area Commands. The investigation was concluded in January 2020 with a search warrant being served at Mr. Lampert’s residence. On March 23, 2023, Albert Lampert was sentenced in the Douglas County Circuit Court and immediately remanded to jail for 30 days. Additionally, he received five years of probation where he cannot be hunting, in the woods with a centerfire rifle, or be with anyone who is hunting. The penalty for violating his probation is six months of additional jail time. Mr. Lampert was also fined $2100, received a 3-year hunting license suspension, and forfeited his rifl

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DUII AND SEIZURE OF SUSPECTED PSILOCYBIN MUSHROOMS-YAMHILL COUNTY

Oregon State Police On March 21, 2023, an Oregon State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding, driving 86 mph in a 55mph zone, on Highway 18 near milepost 31. The driver displayed signs of impairment, so the Trooper performed SFSTs.  The driver performed poorly and was arrested for DUII. While searching the vehicle for evidence of the DUII, the Trooper located 292 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, along with multiple firearms, and a scale. The driver was transported to the Willamette Valley Medical Center where a blood/urine search warrant was applied for, granted, and executed before the driver was cited and released.  Additional commercial drug offense charges will be referred to the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office pending a controlled substance analysis. REDMOND POLICE SEEK PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR ABANDONING 15 CATS AT PAUL HATHAWAY PARK -- ASSISTANCE FROM THE PUBLIC REQUESTED

Redmond Police Dept. Redmond, Oregon  - On March 27, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Redmond officers responded to Paul Hathaway Park, 1021 NW Rockcrest Ct., where 15 cats (10 adults and 5 kittens) had been left in totes and abandoned near the canyon edge.  The cats smelled of urine and feces and didn’t have access to food or water.  Also located was a suitcase with cat food inside.  The cats were taken to Brightside Animal Shelter in Redmond, where they were evaluated, treated, and vaccinated by veterinary staff.      The Redmond Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for abandoning these cats. HUMAN REMAINS POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED, MAJOR CRIMES TEAM INVESTIGATING

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore.  - The human remains found in the middle of February near Glide have been positively identified.   On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by a caller that his son, who had been antler shed hunting, located what were believed to be human remains in the Thunder Mountain area of Glide.  Deputies located the area described and confirmed the presence of skeletal human remains. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Medical Examiner were notified and have been investigating the incident since the discovery.  The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the remains of those belonging to Megan Dyanne Wendel of Roseburg. Wendel was previously reported missing to the Roseburg Police Department in July of 2022. She was 36-years-old at the time of her disappearance.  The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is continuing the investigation into her death, which is considered suspicio
