Felony Vehicle Elude
Newport Police Dept. - 06/28/18
On June 27, 2018, at approximately 4:58pm, Newport Police Department was dispatched to a call of a reckless driver, in a white Mercury Villager minivan, traveling at speeds of approximately 85 mph down the center lane of Hwy 101 heading south.
Officer Randall located the vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to yield or stop and a pursuit was initiated with the Newport Police Department and assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Law Enforcement set out spike strips on Hwy 101 near the Newport Municipal Airport and successfully secured the vehicle safely, near Ona Beach State Park.
The driver, identified as Eric Hunter Worthey, from South Beach, Oregon, was taken into custody without further incident, and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the following charges.
