Motorcyclist dies in crash with deer (Joesphine County)

On August 21, 2018 at approximately 2:18 am, Oregon State Police Troopers from the Grants Pass Area Command and emergency personnel were dispatched to a crash involving a motorcycle on Hwy 260, near MP 10.5.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Suzuki Motorcycle, operated by Donald P. Hoak (36) of Grants Pass, was traveling north on Hwy 260. The motorcycle struck a deer, which was in the northbound lane, causing Hoak to lose control of the motorcycle. Hoak was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Josephine Rural Metro Fire and ODOT
