Ongoing investigation revealed the elk was killed with a 29 ¼ inch Beman ICS Bowhunter 400 arrow (measured from insert to knock base), with yellow and white vanes, with “Don’t Tread on Me” printed on the white index vane, and a 100 grain Muzzy Trocar broadhead. No effort was made by the person(s) involved to harvest any of the meat from the animal.

The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for #PublicAssistance to identify the person(s) responsible for the unlawful taking of a bull elk in Douglas County.

On the evening of August 31, 2018, OSP Fish and Wildlife Troopers responded to a report that a 6-point bull elk had been shot with an arrow and left to waste in the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area, outside of Reedsport.

The investigation revealed the elk had been killed around 7:00 PM that evening, and no effort was made by the person(s) involved to harvest any of the meat from the animal.
