Online Sex Crimes

Myrtle Creek Police
10/14/18

On August 18, 2018, The Myrtle Creek Police Department began an investigation into William Callahan, 55, of Roseburg, after he contacted someone he thought was juvenile female on social media. That juvenile was actually a Myrtle Creek Police officer. During their online conversations, Callahan tried several times to get the female to send him nude photos of herself. Callahan sent the girl photos of his exposed genitals on more than one occasion, along with using graphic sexual talk with the girl.
On October 12, 2018, at about 7:00 PM, MCPD, along with assistance from Oregon State Police Troopers, served a search warrant at Callahan’s residence on Oak Hill Road in Roseburg. Callahan was taken into custody when he was located on the property. Other evidence was also seized at the scene.
Callahan’s Probation Officer was contacted, and she also detained him for a felony probation violation.
Callahan was transported to the Douglas County Jail, where he was lodged on charges of Luring a Minor, Attempted Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct and the Probation Violation. More charges are pending in this case.
MCPD would like to thank OSP for assisting with the service of the search warrant.
