Oregon State Police requesting public's assistance in waste of elk in Washington County

Oregon State Police - 11/29/18

The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is seeking public's assistance to help identify the person(s) responsible for the unlawful killing and waste of a bull elk in rural Washington County.

On November 10, 2018, Oregon State Police Troopers received information about a group of hunters that shot 2 bull elk.

The hunters were on Weyerhaeuser property near Wolf Creek Road and Timber Road and it is believed they did not have permits to be there.  One of the reporting parties was watching the subjects from some nearby trees as they were field dressing one elk.  When the Troopers arrived, the hunters were no longer in the area.  One elk had been harvested and the other spike elk was left to waste.  An area check for the hunters was unsuccessful.

The Troopers salvaged most of the meat from the wasted elk and it was taken to The Meating Place in Hillsboro for donation to the Portland Rescue Mission.

The Oregon State Police is requesting that anyone with information about this unlawful take contact Trooper Ben Turner at OSP (677) from mobile or via email TIP@state.or.us
