Man Arrested on Multiple Charges after Crash Involving Five Cars

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, 2018, at 10:40 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an injury crash involving five vehicles at SW 170th Avenue and SW Farmington Road in Aloha.


When deputies arrived, they were told that the male driver who caused the crash ran from the scene. Witnesses reported that he had been driving recklessly prior to the crash and had intentionally rammed one vehicle before losing control and striking the other vehicles. One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.


Hillsboro Police Officer Matthew Schmidt deployed his K9, Blazer, who located the suspect a short distance from the crash scene, hiding in vegetation.


The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Wesley Howard Scott, of Beaverton. Mr. Howard was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Washington County Jail. He is charged with the following:

  • Felony hit and run
  • Criminal mischief in the second degree (two counts)
  • Reckless endangering
  • DUII (alcohol and controlled substance)
  • Assault in the fourth degree
  • Reckless driving
Mr. Scott refused to provide a breath sample. His blood-alcohol level will not be available until toxicological testing is completed in the future by the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory.
