###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###

On Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at 6:40 a.m., Central Precinct and Transit Division officers responded to the Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest Oak Street MAX Platform on the report of a robbery and stabbing.

When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived, they located an adult male suffering from what was believed to be a stab wound. Emergency medical responders provided the victim medical aid and transported him, by ambulance, to an area hospital for treatment of what is believed to be a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

As officers continued the investigation, they learned the description of two of the suspects believed to be involved in this robbery. While searching the area officers located and detained two people matching the suspects' descriptions.

Based on preliminary information, investigators believe three people were on the MAX platform when a suspect approached the three, brandished a firearm and demanded they empty the contents of their pockets. Officers believe additional suspects arrived at the platform and confronted the victims. Two of the victims ran from the suspect, and a third victim was assaulted and stabbed by the suspects. After the robbery and assault the suspects fled the scene.

Two of the suspects believed to have been involved in this robbery have been located.

Members with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Robbery Detail have responded to continue this investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.

The suspects will be identified and charges provided after which time they are lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.

The Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest Oak Street MAX Platform will remain closed for the next hour as officers and criminalists continue this investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Portland Police Bureau Robbery Detail at 503-823-0412.
