STATEMENT CONCERNING VIDEO OF INDIVIDUAL RELEASED FROM DOUGLAS COUNTY JAIl

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office

January 24th, 2019
We are aware of a video that was posted to social media by a member of the community which shows a man lying on the ground outside of the jail facility.

The individual in the video had been ordered to be released from custody by the Winston Municipal Court. The individual would not cooperate with deputies in his release process and refused to leave. As we no longer had any lawful authority to keep the individual in custody, deputies had to escort the individual outside of the jail facility.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently reviewing the facts surrounding this incident before additional statements are released.

  1. So now that you have made a statement. Will the district attorney please file charges and maybe offer you a plea deal. That way you can admit your guilt and be punished accordingly.

  2. My question is why weren't
social services notified and mental health? Rather than just toss him out like a bag of trash? Where is the humanity? So sad!

  3. Pretty sure that I know this individual. If it is who I think it is, he has refused help time and time again. He goes out to commit crimes for the 3 hots and a cot. He has said, "I don't care who it hurts, I will get what I want". Our government does not allow us to lock these people up for our safety and theirs. Take it up with your state legislators.
