DUII Related Crash on Hillcrest Road

On Saturday, February 23rd at about 12:32 am, officers from the Medford Police Department along with Medford Fire Department personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle accident on Hillcrest Road near Evenbrook Road. There were five total occupants in the vehicle, two of which had to be extricated by Medford Fire personnel. Both of these passengers were transported to local area hospitals with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. Members of the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team (STAR) were called to the scene to conduct the accident investigation. The investigation revealed that 19 year-old Oscar Espinoza Jr was operating a white 1993 Lincoln Mark 8 sedan eastbound on Hillcrest Road at a high rate of speed and lost control, leaving the roadway. The vehicle crashed into a light pole, multiple fences and multiple trees. The driver, Oscar Espinoza, was arrested for DUII along with other crimes and then transported to a local hospital for treatment due to injuries from the crash. He was cited and released at the hospital for medical reasons. A portion of Hillcrest Road was shut down for a brief period but has now been re-opened.
