Arrest made in Encouraging Child Sex Abuse

Bend Police Dept.

On March 13, Bend Police Detectives in assistance with Sunriver Police Department  became aware of a person inside Sunriver, Oregon downloading images depicting child pornography. The investigation revealed the images were downloaded at the residence in the 17000 block of Wickiup Lane.  Further investigation identified a local school bus driver, Karl Trinrud, as a possible suspect.

On March 15, Bend Police Detectives and Sunriver Police Officers executed a warrant at Trinrud’s residence.  Trinrud had been in contact with the Bend Police Detectives and was identified as the suspect who had downloaded the images in question.

Administration with the Bend-La Pine Schools was notified of Trinrud’s involvement in the case and his arrest today.

Trinrud was transported to the Deschutes County Adult Jail where he was lodged on three counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree.  Bend Police are continuing the investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.

We would like to thank the Bend-La Pine Schools and the Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task force for their assistance in the investigation.
