Pursuit in Redmond leads to an arrest

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office

On 04/09/19 at approximately 1942 hours, a Deputy with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a dark green 2001 Chevrolet Corvette for running a stop sign at a high rate of speed at the intersection of Veterans Way and 10th near the Redmond Airport.  The Deputy initiated a short vehicle pursuit, but was unable to keep up with the Corvette.  The vehicle was last seen on Lake Road heading towards Highway 126 at a high rate of speed.

A short time later, a Redmond Police Officer spotted the unoccupied Corvette parked in a parking lot on Veteran’s Way near the airport.  A perimeter was established, and a Redmond Police K-9 team began a track heading in a Northwest direction.  A short time later a K-9 team from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office joined the search in the area of 10th and Highway 126.

At approximately 2044 hours, a citizen reported to an Oregon State Police Trooper that he witnessed a male subject run across Highway 126 near SE 9th heading north.  The perimeter was quickly adjusted, and the male suspect was located near SE 9th and Evergreen.  The male was taken into custody without incident, and later transported to the Deschutes County Jail on the above listed charges.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Redmond Police Department, the Oregon State Police, and the Bend Police Department.  There were no injuries to the suspect or the officers during this incident.
